PACKING: Packing, while not great, wasn't too bad either. Mine came wrapped in a healthy amount of bubble wrap placed inside a appropriately sized cardboard box. That said, it wasn't a snug fit. The HDD had some wiggle room inside the box. More bubble wrap or perhaps some foam/thermocol would have made it even more secure. Plus, a bit more tape on the outside wouldn't have hurt. WEIGHT: Quite a bit lighter than the drive it replaced, a Seagate 1TB 7200rpm (ST31000524AS) HDD. Probably the lightest 1TB HDD I've held. SPEED: Much faster than my old Seagate HDD. I don't recall its exact speeds but the max read speeds it could hit was only about 110 MB/s with average speeds under 100 MB/s. A quick Google search shows similar results. This thing on the other hand gets close to 200 MB/s with a max read speed of 196.5 MB/s and an average read speed of 156.5 MB/s. Its lowest speed of 96 MB/s is close to what the average speed of my previous drive was. TEMPERATURES: Runs pretty cool. When I tested the HDD before installing it in my case, it was running close to 40C. After installing it in my case right in front of a 120mm fan, it sits around 34-35C. SOUND/NOISE: No clicking, grinding or any other weird sounds. Just normal HDD sounds. I would say its ever so slightly more audible than my old HDD (understandable given its much faster) but nothing that should bother anyone. Not inaudible but fairly quiet considering its a HDD. If you want total silence, buy a SSD. WARRANTY: The HDD I received was a brand new sealed unit manufactured in March 2018. Confirmed warranty by checking the serial number on Western Digital's website. But before registering the HDD, my drive was under warranty only till April 2020 which is less than 2 years from the date of purchase. After registering the HDD with the correct purchase date, it now shows close to the full 2 year warranty period. You should register your HDD on the Western Digital website the first chance you get. Sadly, both WD and Seagate offer only a measly 2 year warranty these days. My old Seagate HDD had a 5 year warranty. SUMMARY: Definite upgrade over my previous 1TB drive in terms of performance and a great complement to my Samsung 256GB SSD. PS: Short-stroke your HDDs. Look it up on Google for more info. Basically, download HD Tune, run the benchmark and see where the speed start dropping off noticeably. For a 1TB drive, its usually around 200-250GB. Make a primary partition of 200-250GB. This is the fastest area of the disk where you'll get close to the max read/write speed consistently. Put your OS/programs/games on this partition. Create a secondary partition with the remaining space and use that for storage purposes. Very handy way to get better performance especially if you don't have an SSD.

I bought it to replace 320 GB western digital 7200 rpm caviar blue HDD of my 2010 model Dell Vostro 230 slim tower. My desktop has digitally activated copy of Windows 10. So I installed Windows 10 pro version 1803, 64 bit. On start up, the HDD made different types of sound, heavy vibrations, all unusual types of things happened. So I referred Western Digital website for troubleshooting. It was a brand new hard disk so I thought the problem somewhere else. It advised me to disconnect the data cable and switch on the computer but, I formatted the computer and reloaded it with Windows XP and made a dual boot with Linux mint 18.3.Since then it is running very silently and satisfactorily. The hard disk is imported from Thailand and slightly inferior to the original hard disk fitted with the computer but I am satisfied with the product and will recommend to anyone who is willing to run Linux or has a higher output SMPS. Mine is 250 watt.

Excellent two day delivery by Amazon prime, but I received a defective product. I was eagerly waiting for this product because I am in need of it very urgently. I have received the product with a poor packing condition which is not at all suitable for hard drives. The drive is not protected by any thing like bubble wrap etc, and simply enclosed in a polythene bag. I checked the disk with three systems and its not working. Windows 10 and Windows 7 showing the disk capacity zero. Unable to initialize the disk. Even checked with WD data lifeguard diagnostic tool. Disk showing 0 sectors and capacity 0 GB. And even failed to recognize the disk model. I have asked for a replacement with in three hours of receiving the product. Thanks to Amazon's hassle free return and replacement. I really love that. this is the feature makes AMAZON stand apart from others. Latest update : I have received new replacement hard drive one week ago and it's working fine. But again it was sent without proper protection. Packing is not at all suitable for hard drives. Seller should take note of this. Hard drive is running very smoothly without any noise. I am fully satisfied with it. Though it's an internal hard drive I am using it as an external one. DATA transfer is very fast. You can go for it, but before that contact the seller and request him to send it with proper packing.

SUGGESTION- JUST BUY IT ON YOUR OWN RISK.AS I HAVE CHECKED THROUGH SOME LOCAL STORES THEY TAKE ABOUT 400-500rs more with installing genuine windows in it. I have bought this product while believing in the review and ratings,and waited for it about 8-9 days.It was a genuine product,as I also looked it in the WD official website. BUT IT WAS TOTALLY MESS. HARD DISK WAS COMPLETELY DEFECTIVE AND HAD SOME SERIOUS ISSUE WITH IT.I ALSO REPORTED IT TO THE AMAZON ON THE 2ND DAY AFTER IT'S DELIVERY BUT STILL DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH TIME IT WILL TAKE TO REPLACE IT OR I WILL BE REFUNDED.

Got this for Rs. 3636 in March. You get 931 GB of available storage (remember hdd makers use 1GB = 1000GB while windows counts 1GB=1024GB hence the difference). I'm using this hard drive to storage multimedia files and games like GTA V. The loading times although not as fast as an SSD are minimal, quite better than my 6 years old Seagate HDD. I've also transferred files to internal as well as external drives and via versa, the read write speeds never disappoint. The warranty check is available on WD website and it started the same month I purchased meaning the seller recently bought this piece. Even after filling the drive to 60% capacity I did not any slowdown in performance. Even power surges didn't affect the drive at all. If you're looking for a good storage extension within this budget then go for it, if performance then look for WD Black or SSDs. Check your PC case for space as this HDD is larger in size. 5 stars for excellent HDD and early delivery by Amazon.

WD the brand we all know,that do not need any reviews. World best HDd system. Only local market sales it a bit cheaper. Like locally it 500/- to 800/- lesser.

Drive is good, proved to be fail-safe and efficient. Mine arrived from third-party seller not being entirely new (it was removed from server/nas/etc) and repacked. 1TB version is definitely more reliable. Though I can't recommend Amazon delivery as they surely throw it dozen times on the floor and it will be packed into cheap cardboard and a plastic bag, which definitely doesn't increase drive lifespan.

J'ai acheté ce disque pour remplacer mon DD sur le point de "mourir" pour mon PC vieux de 5 ans (Quad Core + 4 GB Ram et Vista SP2). Western Digital fourni sur son site (penser à télécharger avant) une version limitée, mais suffisante et gratuite de Acronis True Image pour cloner (transférer tous les fichiers du système) du "vieux" disque sur le nouveau. En quelques heures, le tour était joué, mon PC redémarrait avec ce nouveau WD 1TB, bien plus silencieux et surtout plus rapide que le vieux. Aucune vibration n'est à noter. Faire attention cependant: pour effectuer le clonage il faut avoir les 2 disques (ancien et nouveau) banchés simultanément dans votre PC. Il faut donc vérifier si des câbles sont dispos dans votre tour, et le cas échéant en commander, car à ce prix Amazon ne livre que le disque: pas de vis, ni câble alim, ni câble SATA. Si vous avez un PC vieux de plusieurs années comme moi, ce disque fera parfaitement l'affaire à un prix bien moindre que les SSD (les anciennes cartes ne permettent pas de tirer le plein bénéfice des SSD). Perso, j'ai par la suite acheté un SSD Samsung, mais ce 7200 tr/min + 64MB tampon fait tourner Vista presque aussi vite et coûte moins cher que mon SSD 120Gb Samsung. J'ai juste eu un souci avec Windows update qui refusait de fonctionner après le clonage. Cela est dû au fait que Windows Update tient compte de l'identifiant du disque et se résout simplement de la façon suivante: 1. Cliquez sur Démarrer, tapez cmd sur la barre de recherche, faites un clique droit sur cmd.exe 2. Choisissez exécutez en tant qu'administrateur. 3. Tapez net stop wuauserv et validez par la touche Entrée, cette commande permet d'arrêter le service Windows Update. 4. Tapez ren %windir%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.Old et validez par la touche Entrée, cette commande permet de renommer le ficher « softwaredistribution ». 5. Tapez net Start wuauserv et validez par la touche Entrée, cette commande permet de démarrer le service Windows Update 6. Après cette manipulation vous pouvez relancer la recherche des mises à jour et l'installation.

Die WD Blue mit 1 TB hat bei mir zuverlässig ihren Dienst verrichtet. Sie bietet ausreichend Speicherplatz für Spiele, Programme, Fotos und andere Dateien und wurde nach dem Einbau problemlos erkannt. Die Geschwindigkeit ist für eine klassische HDD ordentlich und im normalen Alltag absolut ausreichend. Besonders positiv ist für mich die Zuverlässigkeit – die Festplatte lief bei mir stabil und ohne Probleme. Eine solide interne Festplatte für zusätzlichen Speicherplatz im PC. Mit meiner WD Blue war ich sehr zufrieden
