The Pensado Papers (Music Pro Guides)

Great read. I started watching Pensado's Place earlier this year, and love it - it's a treasure trove of great audio information, and I've used a lot of what I've seen in my own recordings. The book is everything you'd expect from Dave and Herb: laid back, funny, genuine, and straight up. Much of how they describe their approach to their careers and the show itself is applicable to more than just that - it's great information for anyone who's involved in a creative or business pursuit. Right on.

I have watched every episode of Pensado's place at least once (and most twice or more!), so when this book was published I Kindled it as soon as I could. The Pensado Papers fall right in line with the philosophy of the show however, the book offers some behind-the-scenes glimpses into Dave and Herb's lives that never really come out in their weekly journey into audio excellence. Because of this my respect and admiration for both Dave and Herb has been elevated to a whole new level as well as my appreciation for their humility and that Je ne sais quoi - the intangible, yet personal connection that the book provides. These are real cats that have a real love for sharing what they do because they understand: That's how you make the world a better place. You can read all the books and watch all the videos you want about the technical and the technique of professional audio. If you don't have this book in your library you are missing out on some of the insights into the "middle ground" that connect the ear to the heart. Chapter 7 alone is worth the price. Thanks guys!

Thoroughly enjoyed the book.

One of the best books on mixing I've read! Finally got me thinking right, the mix isnt about mixing really, it's about the feel and emotions the music gives you! And for that I own you Mr. Pensado! It's simply is a must read for anybody who isnt satisfied with their mixes or needs a reminder, about what really make a song sound good!

I have been following Pensados Place for a while and I enjoy the show very much and after reding the book I am now a bigger fan. Excellent work.

This book is simply an inspiration! A must read! I was captivated within the first page or two and hooked. I could not put this book down and am thankful for Pensado's Place.

This is mainly about Dave-Herb friendship, Pensado’s Place genesis and very little about mixing. Not bad but it wasn’t was I was looking for.

Captivating inside story of how some of the greatest records ever made were realized. The humanity and superlative brilliance of Dave Pensado that puts him in a class all his own shines through.

After recently watching the amazing show that is Pensado's Place, I saw this book and I couldn't help myself but buy it. This is one of the most interesting and best books I've ever read. It gives a great insight into what the industry is like, lots of great mixing tips as well as getting to find out about the immense effort that Dave and Herb do to make Pensado's Place as incredibly good as it is. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

This book is for those who watch the show every week. Very interesting and give some details about how the show came about, and the way it is prepared, things or difficulties that they had to face. e.g. some of the shows once recorded were accidentally deleted and had to be re-recorded... etc

I enjoyed this short book, much like the TV show it is Dave and Herb talking about their love and respect for the world of audio and the people who inhabit it. The book charts the inception and growth of the Web based TV show we know, and love; Pensado's Place. The back and forth between the co hosts on the TV show is mirrored in the writing as each section is headed either 'Dave' or 'Herb' and it is hard not to hear their voices in one's head whilst reading. I feel that the book should really been viewed as a companion piece to the TV show which it complements and for this reason I have only given 4 stars. The show itself is so enjoyable and fascinating that it is natural to want to read more about it and anyone who knows the weekly broadcast will not be disappointed. If you have not seen the show I doubt you will be considering buying this book but if you search one of the many platforms it airs on (I watch on You Tube) and give it a try you may well come back and snap this book up as a welcome addition to the unique Pensado experience. The world of audio is something we all experience daily and Herb and Dave are enablers, prophets and teachers in that world their message is worth attending to. This book is worth a read.
