Good cheap radio
This is a good cheap analog radio with 3 bands AM, FM and SW. I got this to replace an old portable I had been using for many years for commentary at sports events. I only used the FM frequency and it seemed to pick up the signal just as well as my old one. The audio jack puts outs audio on both left and right channels, I'm not sure if this is stereo or mono across both channels. The radio runs off of 2x AA batteries. This radio does feel a little bit on the cheap side but I think this is how radio of this type are going as they are getting less and less popular.

Good value for money
Good value for money.I fitted the little radio with 2 x Energizer AA 2000mAH (2AH, which I recommend) to check operational life. With the speaker volume set half way, it finally stopped working after 62 HOURS continuous use.The tuning dial is rather coarse but once tuned it does not 'drift'. The tuning knob is reasonably smooth so not too fiddly.Reciever sensitvity is acceptable. The little speaker is sufficient for personal use and maybe a few people to listen to sports or background music outdoors in quiet areas. To expect hifi audio is unrealistic. However, audio is acceptable with headphones. There is a little red 'on' LED on the front panel, which at least confirms the batteries are okay.Just wish I could find a small travel case for it....

Portable AM/FM/SW Radio
Remember those portable radios we had in the 70’s and 80’s that you might take out with you to a picnic, or carry to the greenhouse, use in the garden or take on random days out etc? Yes? Well this is basically one of those. You just need to insert 2 x AA batteries and away you go. No installing apps, no perusing through a badly translated manual for 30 minutes trying to figure out how to switch it on.This radio is as basic as it gets, and that is no complaint.Simply switch to either FM, AM or SW tune your channel then turn the volume up or down to suit your needs. My only minor gripe is that occasionally when tuning a channel you need to adjust the tuning knob left and right a few times to hit the sweet spot of best reception.Sound quality is slightly tinny but not overly so, but exactly as I expected it to be.Battery life is of course dependant on the batteries you insert but on a decent pair of AA batteries could last for weeks and weeksHighly recommended

Cheap and cheerful radio, gets the job done , but is a bit fragile in places
The media could not be loaded. At just under ten pounds it’s not surprising this isn’t the last word in portable radios, but it certainly gets the job done.It was quite nostalgic rotating the tuning wheel, although the travel isn’t great so trying to get those stations close to each other was a bit tricky. The good news is both the tuning and volume wheels are sturdy and don’t wobble like some. The speaker is pretty tinny as you might expect , again it’s pretty good for the price though and didn’t distort at moderate volumes. You get Sw,AM and FM bands, and a headphone out. It’s portable , pretty plasticky, but for the money it’s good value. It’s not that durable , the battery spring popped out when I removed the batteries , but it was easy enough to put back in.If you need a cheap radio , this is worth a look.

This is the worst pocket radio I have ever come across.
I ordered this small portable radio from a combination of need and nostalgia. I'm not sure about the need but in the days before mobile phones I would take a similar sized portable radio when hill walking so that I could catch the weather forecast for the next day and occasionally decide to remain tucked up in my tent. Now, besides its GPS and OS maps my phone also has a radio which works extremely well. The nostalgia is memories of listening to Radio Luxembourg fading in and out on a "transistor radio" that cost even less than this one does; but of course, I am forgetting inflation.Sadly, this radio is not very good. Its ability to pick up anything at all is crucially dependant upon location in my house. Orientation yes, if I recall correctly, the internal antenna used to be a horizontally mounted ferrite rod so AM reception depended on which way the radio faced. FM reception should be determined by the extending vertical antenna. I am not at all sure about the shortwave reception. Only a very limited part of the band seems to be available anyway and even at 10 PM I could only hear a hiss. The major problem is the gearing of the tuning knob. Tuning is indicated on a linear scale for all three frequency bands The pointer Indicating the frequency is 1/8th of an inch across. The scale itself is 1 1/4 inches lomng. The tuning knob rotates less than 180 degrees from one stop to the other. It is just not possible to tune accurately. The slightest fingered tremor will send you fatally or frequency.I did so want to like this radio. Instead, t think it is the worst pocket radio I have ever come across.

Neat but not so powerful as described.
Hi, this well made little radio might work well in a city but out here in Lincolnshire I can only receive Radio 5!!!! FM does not pick up very well. It works a little better upstairs. I did not need the Short Wave - but it seems to pick up a few things.

Small and simple
This portable radio came safely boxed. It's lightweight plastic but build quality seems OK. It's not rechargeable so you need batteries. It's not digital, instead having frequencies listed on the front and a dial to go between them. The radio can pick up AM, FM and SW and features an earphone socket as well as a built-in speaker so covers all the basics as far as functionality goes. Performance is OK, reception isn't always the best but I find that adjusting the direction of the antenna usually helps, there are spots in my house where digital radios struggle too. The main benefit of this radio for me is the simplicity, no worries about charging or digital displays, all I have to do is just turn that dial. Overall I am very happy with this radio, it's lightweight and works well.
