We found a simple solution - we replaced the original hook with a crappie hook from the Eagle Claw Crappie/Bream Hook Assortment (also available on Amazon). We also added a split shot weight just at the top of the hook. And just like that, we were back in business! Every cast the hook goes down! The first time my son reeled in a crappie, the look on his face was priceless. He went from watching the fish nibble at his lures to actively catching them. It was a proud dad moment for sure. The concept works well enough. Easy to attach. I would suggest checking the knot on the attachment piece already attached to be sure it will hold strong. My son had to go in and retrieve the bobber cause it unattached after first cast. My husband just made sure to tighten up the knots already in place from packaging after that.

Got them for grandchildren so haven't tried them yet but looks like they are going to work out well. Good quality.
