Needed a saw hole to cut through 3/4 pine toungue n groove on ceiling for can lights. Big Store wanted $40 plus had to buy an arbor. Only needed six holes and this did the job and was fun. A cordless drill doesn't give you the power you need typically so a 1/2 corded drill is better. Be careful as the bit will skip across the top of the wood until you get the circlele started. I actually marked the center and then put both 1 by 6 boards on the ceiling...........i.e. installed right over the can light. (Don't forget to remove the light bulbs or you will break them with the center drill bit) I then cut the holes and they worked perfectly. Seems like good quality steel and I would imaging getting many more cuts out of this product. No hesitations purchasing one again.

Bought this to cut holes in a shed to install 6" round vents. Sharp, cuts well but found blade wanted to spin off shaft if you were not in contact with the wood. Tried tightening more not no avail. My solution was to attach some Gorilla Tape (see pic) to keep it from spinning off. Worked! After cutting four holes and all done, ready to put away removed tape but found I could not get shaft to come off. It figures, but no big deal, put it away assembled to try again another day.

I bought this to cut the holes in a set of cornhole boards I made for my wife. It cut the holes cleanly and quickly in 1/2" plywood. HOWEVER, be aware that such a large diameter saw requires a strong drill with a 1/2" capacity chuck. My Ryobi 18V cordless drill wasn't up to the task. Well, It probably would have worked if I had gone really slowly with the cut and was willing to use multiple battery charges to cut the two holes, but it was much easier to use my corded 5/8" hammer drill. Also be aware that the saw develops A LOT of torque as it cuts the wood, so be sure your boards are securely clamped to something sold before you begin. Also, after using the saw to cut the two holes, the arbor nuts are basically fused in place and there's no way that I can unscrew them to remove the saw blade from the arbor. Based on past experience with other hole saws, I do not believe that this is unique to this particular product or is indicative of a fault or quality issue with it. It just happens with these things. I don't expect that I will use this setup again, so durability isn't an issue for me. Given my past experience with smaller diameter hole bits like this, I would expect that the blade would be good for about 10 holes in 3/4" plywood before it gets seriously dull. This is not a tool for production use.

My dad makes cornhole boards for sale. The cornhole cutters in Lowes were double this price. My Dad thinks the ones in Lowes may be better quality but since he only makes about 10 to 15 boards a year, it suits his purposes. He thinks it's the kind of thing where your market will eventually dry up once your family, friends and maybe a few "friends of friends" all have boards. He doesn't actively advertise outside of his circle of family and friends. He's retired and was just looking for something to do. This is the perfect amount of investment for a hobbyist. But if business ramps up, he thinks he'll need better quality. He said the metal is thick which I thought would be a good thing but it isn't because you have to use a lot of upper body strength to drive the cutter. He thinks the ones at Lowes are thinner, sharper and stronger so that he won't have to use as much energy to drive the cutter through.

I purchased this to create pair of cornhole boards. The hole saw itself looks and feels sturdy. I was able to easily cut through 3/4 inch plywood. The holes came out nice with little tear out. I am not sure the saw will remain sharp long, but for a pair of boards it worked fine the arbor that goes with it seems well constructed. There were no instructions, so if you haven’t used a holesaw before you may need to get some help. The drill bit that comes with it (that fits in the center of the arbor) broke on the first board I used it on. I used one of my bits in its place without difficulty. My rating is based on lack of instructions, the fact that the drill bit broke, and my uncertainty as to its longevity. I plan to make some more boards, but not for a few months, so time will tell.

When this hole saw came in, I knew it was quality by the weight of the box. This heavy duty hole saw works well, but you better hold on tight as it can injure someone with little experience. I’ve cut a few holes with it and shows no wear, for the money and quality, this hole saw can’t be beat.

Does what it's supposed to do. Great for making holes in drywall, plywood, pretty much anything but metal. Make sure you have a powerful drill to run this thing, as it is rather heavy and requires a bit of torque to get started. It is made out of durable steel and the teeth on mine are still in like-new condition after using this hole saw to drill countless holes over the past 2 years I have owned it. Would buy again! (but shouldn't have to!)
