It involves strategizing, which is a great way to exercise the brain. The small game pieces are brightly colored and easy to differentiate, and handling them requires some dexterity, making it an excellent activity for kids. The board is solid, and there were enough rubber bands for the entire game before we had a winner. The rubber bands are durable, and they could easily be replaced in the future if needed.One minor downside is that the trays for the game pieces are quite flimsy, about as delicate as the inner plastic trays used in food packaging, like Girl Scout cookies. I am not sure why it has chess in the name as it has no relationship to the actual game of chess, but regardless it is a fun game.
