⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is not my first pair. And if something happened to these tomorrow, I'd order another pair before the panic attack was over. I'm a caregiver, which means my day doesn't stop because my phone rings. I can't always drop what I'm doing to answer a call, check a text, or stop helping my mom just because somebody wants to talk. These headphones let me stay connected while keeping both hands free and my attention where it needs to be. I've also never had anyone complain that I sounded far away, muffled, or difficult to hear during calls. In fact, people who know me usually ask if I'm hands-free. The answer is always yes. Not because I'm being efficient. Because my hands are always busy doing something other than talking on the phone. When I tell you I use these every single day, I mean every single day. Seven days a week. From the moment I get up until I go to bed, they're either on my head or charging for tomorrow. In fact, I keep two pairs so one is always ready to go. The best part is they're bone-conduction headphones, so they're not shoved in your ears all day. I can still hear what's going on around me, hear my mom call for me, hear the dogs, hear the door, and still take calls, listen to podcasts, audiobooks, or music. Now, if you're looking for complete silence, that's not really the point of these. Unless you put earplugs in, you're still going to hear the world around you. Personally, I consider that a feature, not a bug. If I wanted complete silence, I'd have to start by muting my household, and unfortunately Shokz hasn't figured out how to manufacture that yet. One thing I learned with this purchase is that I probably should have been buying the Mini version all along. I've always bought the regular size, but this time I decided to try the Mini. For me, it fits much better. The regular version always left a larger gap behind my head between the band and my neck. The Mini sits closer, feels more secure, and is just more comfortable for everyday wear. So if you've ever felt like the regular version sits a little too far off the back of your head, don't automatically assume that's just how they're supposed to fit. The Mini might be worth a look. Apparently my head was Mini-sized all along and nobody bothered to tell me. One thing I absolutely love about these newer ones is that they charge with a regular USB-C cable. No hunting for some weird proprietary charger. No digging through a drawer trying to figure out which mystery cord belongs to which device. Just plug them in and move on with life. My first pair was purchased around 2020 or 2021. The only reason I'm replacing one is because it took an unexpected swim in a river. They are water-resistant. They are not "fell in the river and went exploring with the fish" resistant. That one's on me, not Shokz. The other replacement wasn't even for me—I gave it away. I've actually gifted several pairs over the years to people I really like. They're one of my favorite gifts to give because once people try them, they get it. Even the kids have gotten them. Granted, there are days I'm not sure I like the kids all that much, but overall they're still worthy recipients. For right around $200, considering I get years of daily use out of them, the value isn't even a question for me. The battery life is fantastic. The comfort is amazing. The sound quality is excellent. And they've survived years of daily use from someone who treats them less like electronics and more like essential life-support equipment. One small suggestion for Shokz, if anybody from the company happens to be reading reviews. I love the colors. I really do. But for those of us who wear these all day, every day, I'd love to see a skin-tone option. Sometimes I want my headphones to make a statement. Sometimes I want them to disappear. When my hair is pulled back, it would be nice to have a version that blends in a little more instead of announcing itself to the world. Let's be honest. Not everybody needs the entire room to know they're wearing headphones. Sometimes incognito is a good thing. Sometimes you don't want your boss immediately spotting them during a meeting. Sometimes you don't want people assuming you're ignoring them when you're actually listening perfectly well. And sometimes you just don't feel particularly social and would like your headphones to participate in that decision. The colors are great. I'd just love one that quietly minds its own business. Honestly, if I could remember who first recommended Shokz to me, I'd probably kiss them right on the mouth. And I'm not even sure I liked that person. That's how good these are.

I am an avid runner, and have typically used various iterations of Apple AirPods when doing so. I don’t have many complaints about them, as the sound quality and noise cancellation are both excellent, but I was getting a bit of ear fatigue after a while, and on these humid Southern days, things get a bit slippy after a few miles, to the point where I was having to constantly jam them back into my ears. I am a glasses wearer, and was somewhat unsure if the Shokz would work, but decided to give them a try. I was very pleasantly surprised by them. They work just fine with my glasses, especially if I put the headphones on first and then slide the glasses over my ears. The sound quality is not quite in par with the AirPods, but it’s actually shockingly good, and when you are laboring up a hill, sound quality isn’t exactly a priority. Bass response is the most noticeable difference from the AirPods. They are also super light, and I kind of forget they are there at all. The things I really love about them are that they stay in place and don’t move a bit, and I can listen to music or podcasts but still have situational awareness. I never listened to music on my trail runs for exactly that reason, and I probably still won’t, but a podcast is a perfect compromise that allows me to have some entertainment while still being able to hear if there is a bike coming up behind me. Battery life seems quite good, and I like the case as well. As a side note, I have a pretty dang big head, at least going by hat size, but the mini actually provided a better fit for me. If you are on the fence about these I can say they are worth the investment. I’ll be using mine as my primary listening device for running from now on.

The SHOKZ OpenRun Pro 2 headphones are worth the price. I tried a few cheap pairs first To see if I liked the bone conduction headphones. I also have something to compare them against. The sound is excellent. Music sounds very good And the volume is adequate for audio books. The one-piece design prevents drops, and they stay comfortable all day, even in rain. The orange color is easy to find. The buttons work accurately And are easy to press by feel. The phone call quality is adequate compared to other choices. The microphone is maybe not the greatest, but you can take phone calls while wearing these. One of the most important things these create for me is that, because my ears are always open, I can hear what's going on. It also means that I can keep them on while running errands, and I can increase my audiobook time. I just regularly pause and resume depending on what I'm trying to do. I'm kind of a maniac about audiobooks. I listen to over a hundred of them every year, and this gives me a few extra hours of listening time during the week, so it's a pretty good investment. The battery lasts all day, and a voice prompt states the power level in English upon startup. I've used them for eight hours at a time and have never gotten below a medium. The charging port is solid with a clear indicator LED. While the connection does not hop devices Pairing is stable and straightforward. A small downside is that on Apple you have to turn the volume up fairly loud to get them to work properly, so you will get warnings that your headphones are too loud.

Do I like these headphones: Yes! I have used insertable earpieces my entire life, and love the sound of them, deep base, and pleasant highs. I have been reticent to try bone conduction headphones as I worried about sound quality... However with the insertable headsets, while riding my bike, I can not hear vehicles or people, even when the insertable is in transparent mode. These headsets have solved all issues! They sound nice-- deep base, and a really bright high end, and I can now hear the vehicle that is trying to run me down while on my bike. Another difference between the Shokz, and the "other" high end headsets is the comfort level... After an hour or so of the insertable headphones, my ears start to hurt... With the Shokz headphones, I actually forget they are on, no matter how long I wear them. Controls: The most needed controls are right on the side of the headsets, volume, phone pickup, power, etc. Shokz choose to use a soft rubber covering over the controls as well, this makes them non slick so when you touch them, your finger stays were you put it. The volume up, volume down, and power controls have engraved markings on them so my finger can tell what control I am touching without removing the headset. They connected right up to my iPhone via bluetooth and have stayed connected. No disconnects... They reconnect instantly as well... I just turn them on, put them on, and start riding my bike. I can also pick up, hang up, and move forward in my playlist all from teh headsets, all with no setup done on my iPhone. Microphone: I have asked people how my audio sounds while riding the bike, and am told it sounds great... Battery: I have yet to run these dead... I take them to work, and use them all day... I ride my bike for several hours, never a dead or even a low battery indication in either situation, so I can't say how long they last... They charge up in an hour or so, again, I have never been able to run them down, so I can't say how long it would take from a dead battery to full charge. This is however how batteries like to be treated for max life, never running then down totally. Storage: I was unaware they came with a really nice case! The case is a bit on the largish side, but it will protect them. It has a good feel to it, and seems well built. Connectivity: I have yet to connect them to a second audio source like my TV, but the instructions say they will do this. The App: The app allows me to select various modes, only bone conduction, bone conduction and speaker, an EQ setup, and a few other things I don't use. I have set the EQ up, and it works, and I run the headsets with both speaker, and bone conduction on. The bass suffers slightly if you turn off the speakers, but is still good. Recommendation: Yes, get these... I wish I had done so prior to spending a bunch more money on insertable headsets.

I had the older version of the open run headphones and these do sound better than the old ones but I wouldn't say they sound almost double the price better. One thing that's a little disappointing about them is the volume level. I wish they got just a little louder at max volume. Having said that for what they are made to do there's nothing better out there. I must have a weird ear shape because I have trouble getting anything that goes inside the ear canal to stay put especially if I'm exercising and get sweaty so these are the only choice. I also love that I can just hang them around my neck when I'm not using them keep my ears from get tired/fatigued. You can be very active with them just sitting on your neck and they won't fall off which is really nice. I think these have a better battery life than the old ones I had too which was another gripe that I had with the old ones. They just didn't have a long enough play time for me but these should be better based on the specs. We'll see!

This is my 12th pair of Shokz headphones I have purchased for both me and my family since 2019. Why so many, because I am a runner and so is my son, but I also have them on throughout the day. I like to have a pair to swap out and a backup pair. That is how integrated these are into my routine. I have recommended these to many people and they all own and swear by them now. I was hesitant to buy this new model because I saw this as a lateral move at best, but wanted to leave a review since I bought them on sale and realize the improvement over the previous model. CON: I will start with the only con I have so far. They eliminated the magnetic charging port which was convenient and I felt an improvement over the earlier models. They have moved to a USB-C connection with a rubber stopper to cover the port. Also, I have not tested the microphone for phone calls on this model, but I can say it was not the best on the previous model and they do make a different pair that is made specifically for that purpose. PROS: These are more comfortable and feel even lighter. The battery seems to be better. But the bigger difference (which I actually read on another review) is the fact that they fixed the vibration when you turn up the volume. I always tolerated it, especially if I was running in a loud area or on the riding mower and trying to listen to a podcast. But now that it is gone, I realize what a big improvement it is. Another thing they fixed on this new model that I felt like was damaging my hearing were the audio cues. When you would turn turn the volume up, the indicator for the max volume, pausing music, or changing tracks would also go up and blow out my ear. If certain notifications came through on my phone, that would also be at max volume and extremely loud even when compared to the music. This is a big fix for me and worth noting. I always recommend SHOKZ. They stand by their products. When I did have issues early on, they replaced the headphones within their generous warranty period. If you have not tried them yet, particularly if you are a runner or active, I suggest trying this model. UPDATE: While I am not changing the rating of these headphones and would still recommend them, I made an assumption that these would be great for really loud situations like using the riding mower with earplugs in. This was based on them fixing the vibration and audio cues at loud volumes. However, what I have notices as I have been using them is that they seem to have moved to a hybrid external speaker / bone conduction model rather than primarily bone conduction. Anyone who has had the earlier models might remember that they used to include earplugs for loud situations, and if you plugged your ears, everything go much louder because the sound was not relying on speakers pumping sound into the ears. That no longer seems to be the case based on my testing. This also explains other reviews stating at loud listening volumes, people would be able to hear what you are listening to. I would recommend looking further into this if any of these are concerns to you.

I have been wearing Shokz headphones for 2 or 3 years and really enjoy them. I hike and being able to hear runners or mountain bikes coming from behind is great. Last week I bought my 1st Shokz 2 headphones and love them !!! The sound is better. The booting up and attaching to my iPhone is quicker. It’s nice to see a good product pickup their game and make a great product!!! The only downside is that they tend to only last about a year. Either the buttons stop working correctly or the battery stops taking a charge. Hopefully the Shokz 2 corrects those problems.

This is a review of Shokz Open Run Pro 2 purchased in June 2026 to supplement my current Apple AirPod Pro 2. I purchased these based on a recommendation for good sound and full transparency for ambient sound. I purchased these for $175 which is the same price paid for the AirPod Pro 2. The unit comes with a USB-C to C charger which means most US buyers will likely need to buy an adapter if this is your first C to C charging device. The sound IS good and clear and I CAN hear my surroundings. Make sure you understand their definition of “bone conduction” as the sound is still transferred to the ear canal by two speakers by the ears. The accompanying app lets you change equalizer settings. I have it set to the standard settings which give clear vocals and good treble. Bass could be improved but I haven’t explored that yet. I ordered the standard size and at 5’9” with long hair I should have ordered these mini size - there is a lot of extra material in the back which interferes when wearing a hat or bicycle helmet. I use the Shokz with iPhone and iPad and unlike the AirPod the Shokz have no compatibility with Siri, any voice commands, or any of the standard features of AirPods such as alerts or messages and no noise cancellation features. The Shokz do not charge in the case like the Apple products. For these reasons I would not recommend Shokz for Apple users when you get far more features with AirPods for the same price. I downloaded the accompanying Apple app while the headphones were first charging. You need to create an account to take full advantage of all features. I attempted to create an account with my email address and was returned a comment, “An account with that email address already exists.” I don’t know how that is possible as I have a very unique email address and have no previous interaction with the company (unless they merged with someone…). So from that perspective the app is useless to me and not worth the space on my phone. I doubt I will keep the app. Editing my review to add that I returned the headset for 3 reasons: 1. The standard size was too big and was uncomfortable to wear with a ball cap or bike helmet, 2. I really didn’t think it was a good value as it was the same price as Apple AirPod Pro 2 with none of the features, 3. I experienced volume issues that others reported - at times I would click the volume control 3-4 times with little change.

I’ve been using it for one year now, honestly, I got addicted to it. People forgot how I used to look without it. Just keep in mind it’s an open ear concept, so don’t expect a crazy bass that blows your head. It’s amazing for the idea, a headphone that will make you smart, being on your phone watching reels but still listening to the gossips your friends are talking, is a skill

This is my first ever Bone Conduction headphones I have used or purchase. Having gone through multiple reviews, finally decided to purchase these. As all reviewers have emphasized do not have expectations for it to perform like a normal Headphone/Earphone. With that in mind ordered Openrun Pro 2 after eliminating all the others. On opening the box, it comes with a nice case, the headphones, USB cable (A to C), warranty card with serial and reflective stickers After downloading the app, I pared it with my phone and the registration was done on the fly along with a firmware upgrade. App allows you to multi-pair and adjust EQ to your liking. The build quality is very good and robust. The band sits comfortably on both ear and found no issues with it. I can probably wear this much longer than any headphones/earphones I have owned till date. Coming to the audio, I started with 50% volume on standard EQ, I was pleasantly surprised to hear the audio almost similar to having a headphone/earphone on. Only thing was the bass wont be able to compare to standard ear/headphones, but it was not such that you could not appreciate the bass. In fact it sounds much much better than any mobile phone speakers and better than most portable bluetooth speakers, regarding bass (only way to give an easy comparative description) Picking and answering calls is easy and the mic noise cancellation is awesome, such that the person on the other side will not realize you are on a wireless. Going on a walk or jog the headphones perform 100% to what they are specified for. Have not given a full run for its battery life but will update on it soon. Conclusion: Very happy and satisfied with the purchase abet the price kinds pinches on the pockets. At the time I bought this the similar bone conducting Bose was selling lower than this by 1k+ Would definitely to people who completely understand what they are signing up for.

Not for the audiophiles, but for people, who want sound on. the move (cyclists in my case) and want to hear the surrounding traffic, there is not better option. Would definitely buy again.

Would I recommend them? Yes — especially if you’re a runner or cyclist who prioritizes safety and awareness over pure sound quality. If you want rich, immersive audio, look elsewhere. But if you want headphones you can wear for hours without discomfort while still hearing what’s going on around you, the OpenRun Pro 2 are one of the best in their category.
