SHOKZ OpenRun Pro 2 Bone Conduction Bluetooth Sport Headphones, Black

I am an avid runner, and have typically used various iterations of Apple AirPods when doing so. I don’t have many complaints about them, as the sound quality and noise cancellation are both excellent, but I was getting a bit of ear fatigue after a while, and on these humid Southern days, things get a bit slippy after a few miles, to the point where I was having to constantly jam them back into my ears. I am a glasses wearer, and was somewhat unsure if the Shokz would work, but decided to give them a try. I was very pleasantly surprised by them. They work just fine with my glasses, especially if I put the headphones on first and then slide the glasses over my ears. The sound quality is not quite in par with the AirPods, but it’s actually shockingly good, and when you are laboring up a hill, sound quality isn’t exactly a priority. Bass response is the most noticeable difference from the AirPods. They are also super light, and I kind of forget they are there at all. The things I really love about them are that they stay in place and don’t move a bit, and I can listen to music or podcasts but still have situational awareness. I never listened to music on my trail runs for exactly that reason, and I probably still won’t, but a podcast is a perfect compromise that allows me to have some entertainment while still being able to hear if there is a bike coming up behind me. Battery life seems quite good, and I like the case as well. As a side note, I have a pretty dang big head, at least going by hat size, but the mini actually provided a better fit for me. If you are on the fence about these I can say they are worth the investment. I’ll be using mine as my primary listening device for running from now on.

I was a bit hesitant to buy these, I am very new to bone conduction as a means of headphones but I needed a device that didn't hurt my ears. I can't do earbuds/in ear at all and over the ear is hit and miss (headband pressure and the ear cup putting pressure on the shell of my ear). This has been money extremely well spent. These do everything I need them to and one thing I didn't know they would do. Set up was easy, they connected to Bluetooth without a problem, and they have an app for the settings (it will require the serial number which is included in the headphone package). Controls have been simple to figure out, power, volume +/-, pause. Charging cord is short and if you don't have one get a C connector plug. Sound quality has been great, I use them for music while I work out and I've had no problems with connectivity or volume. The fit which I was somewhat worried about has been perfect. They don't budge no matter how much I move around or sweat. Now the thing I didn't know they did, I got a phone call and was able to take the call without a problem. There were no issues with the person hearing me or me hearing them. All around, I am happy with the headset and they are perfect for my use case.

Do I like these headphones: Yes! I have used insertable earpieces my entire life, and love the sound of them, deep base, and pleasant highs. I have been reticent to try bone conduction headphones as I worried about sound quality... However with the insertable headsets, while riding my bike, I can not hear vehicles or people, even when the insertable is in transparent mode. These headsets have solved all issues! They sound nice-- deep base, and a really bright high end, and I can now hear the vehicle that is trying to run me down while on my bike. Another difference between the Shokz, and the "other" high end headsets is the comfort level... After an hour or so of the insertable headphones, my ears start to hurt... With the Shokz headphones, I actually forget they are on, no matter how long I wear them. Controls: The most needed controls are right on the side of the headsets, volume, phone pickup, power, etc. Shokz choose to use a soft rubber covering over the controls as well, this makes them non slick so when you touch them, your finger stays were you put it. The volume up, volume down, and power controls have engraved markings on them so my finger can tell what control I am touching without removing the headset. They connected right up to my iPhone via bluetooth and have stayed connected. No disconnects... They reconnect instantly as well... I just turn them on, put them on, and start riding my bike. I can also pick up, hang up, and move forward in my playlist all from teh headsets, all with no setup done on my iPhone. Microphone: I have asked people how my audio sounds while riding the bike, and am told it sounds great... Battery: I have yet to run these dead... I take them to work, and use them all day... I ride my bike for several hours, never a dead or even a low battery indication in either situation, so I can't say how long they last... They charge up in an hour or so, again, I have never been able to run them down, so I can't say how long it would take from a dead battery to full charge. This is however how batteries like to be treated for max life, never running then down totally. Storage: I was unaware they came with a really nice case! The case is a bit on the largish side, but it will protect them. It has a good feel to it, and seems well built. Connectivity: I have yet to connect them to a second audio source like my TV, but the instructions say they will do this. The App: The app allows me to select various modes, only bone conduction, bone conduction and speaker, an EQ setup, and a few other things I don't use. I have set the EQ up, and it works, and I run the headsets with both speaker, and bone conduction on. The bass suffers slightly if you turn off the speakers, but is still good. Recommendation: Yes, get these... I wish I had done so prior to spending a bunch more money on insertable headsets. EDIT: After several months of use, I still like the headphones, and now my wife wants a pair. I just bought them for her...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is not my first pair. And if something happened to these tomorrow, I'd order another pair before the panic attack was over. I'm a caregiver, which means my day doesn't stop because my phone rings. I can't always drop what I'm doing to answer a call, check a text, or stop helping my mom just because somebody wants to talk. These headphones let me stay connected while keeping both hands free and my attention where it needs to be. I've also never had anyone complain that I sounded far away, muffled, or difficult to hear during calls. In fact, people who know me usually ask if I'm hands-free. The answer is always yes. Not because I'm being efficient. Because my hands are always busy doing something other than talking on the phone. When I tell you I use these every single day, I mean every single day. Seven days a week. From the moment I get up until I go to bed, they're either on my head or charging for tomorrow. In fact, I keep two pairs so one is always ready to go. The best part is they're bone-conduction headphones, so they're not shoved in your ears all day. I can still hear what's going on around me, hear my mom call for me, hear the dogs, hear the door, and still take calls, listen to podcasts, audiobooks, or music. Now, if you're looking for complete silence, that's not really the point of these. Unless you put earplugs in, you're still going to hear the world around you. Personally, I consider that a feature, not a bug. If I wanted complete silence, I'd have to start by muting my household, and unfortunately Shokz hasn't figured out how to manufacture that yet. One thing I learned with this purchase is that I probably should have been buying the Mini version all along. I've always bought the regular size, but this time I decided to try the Mini. For me, it fits much better. The regular version always left a larger gap behind my head between the band and my neck. The Mini sits closer, feels more secure, and is just more comfortable for everyday wear. So if you've ever felt like the regular version sits a little too far off the back of your head, don't automatically assume that's just how they're supposed to fit. The Mini might be worth a look. Apparently my head was Mini-sized all along and nobody bothered to tell me. One thing I absolutely love about these newer ones is that they charge with a regular USB-C cable. No hunting for some weird proprietary charger. No digging through a drawer trying to figure out which mystery cord belongs to which device. Just plug them in and move on with life. My first pair was purchased around 2020 or 2021. The only reason I'm replacing one is because it took an unexpected swim in a river. They are water-resistant. They are not "fell in the river and went exploring with the fish" resistant. That one's on me, not Shokz. The other replacement wasn't even for me—I gave it away. I've actually gifted several pairs over the years to people I really like. They're one of my favorite gifts to give because once people try them, they get it. Even the kids have gotten them. Granted, there are days I'm not sure I like the kids all that much, but overall they're still worthy recipients. For right around $200, considering I get years of daily use out of them, the value isn't even a question for me. The battery life is fantastic. The comfort is amazing. The sound quality is excellent. And they've survived years of daily use from someone who treats them less like electronics and more like essential life-support equipment. One small suggestion for Shokz, if anybody from the company happens to be reading reviews. I love the colors. I really do. But for those of us who wear these all day, every day, I'd love to see a skin-tone option. Sometimes I want my headphones to make a statement. Sometimes I want them to disappear. When my hair is pulled back, it would be nice to have a version that blends in a little more instead of announcing itself to the world. Let's be honest. Not everybody needs the entire room to know they're wearing headphones. Sometimes incognito is a good thing. Sometimes you don't want your boss immediately spotting them during a meeting. Sometimes you don't want people assuming you're ignoring them when you're actually listening perfectly well. And sometimes you just don't feel particularly social and would like your headphones to participate in that decision. The colors are great. I'd just love one that quietly minds its own business. Honestly, if I could remember who first recommended Shokz to me, I'd probably kiss them right on the mouth. And I'm not even sure I liked that person. That's how good these are.

Really love this product. As someone who obsesses over all the details of headphones and use them a lot every day, I think these headphones knock it out of the park on most metrics. Earbuds don't work for me because they always fall out of my ears. Most other sports headphones are too big and bulky and the quality is low. Compared to earbuds, Shokz are much faster to put on securely and power up. Sound is great. Doesn't get as loud as other products, but that isn't an issue for me even when I'm wearing them while riding my bike in the wind. But only 4 stars due to a couple firmware issues. The issues: * When connected to two devices (e.g. iPhone and iPad), hitting the play button always defaults to starting the first device connected; so if iPhone was your first device connected and you are wandering around listening to your iPad hit pause and then play again, it will start playing whatever was last playing on your iPhone; it should obviously default to playing whichever device was last being played (Please fix your firmware guys :-) * I'm disappointed in the power management policy; there is no auto power-down after inactivity so you always have to remember to power off when you're done; instead they should auto power down after 5 or 10 minutes of inactivity

Included a picture of the box these come in, I think it looks cool enough for a picture. This doesn't tell the product quality on it's own, though. The OpenRun Pro 2 is a bone conducting headphone which has a trick up it's sleeve: a mini speaker that plays bass and low midrange sounds. The "air conducting" unit (which is just a speaker) makes a substancial difference in the overall sound quality which took me by surprise. With the speaker enabled (via "Standard" in the app, or simply default) the sound is relatively natural with a very big soundstage. These aren't bass monsters but based on what I'm hearing, I'm getting bass down to approximately 60 or 70 Hz. I get almost no bass with the "Classic" mode enabled which disables the speaker. Speaking of, if you care any amount about sound quality, you're not turning off the speaker. IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to psychoacoustic effects caused by the unavoidable sound-bleed of the bone conductor, and sound wave reflections within the ear canal, the sound will change dramatically when you use earplugs. With earplugs in, the sound gets more bassy, which makes this sound like a very bassy headphone but with more muffled lower midrange (stuffy, warm voices), a bit less treble, and significantly smaller soundstage. My review is in reference to these WITHOUT earplugs in. Battery life is just passable. I have to charge them once during my 12-hour shifts which isn't a big deal because they go from 20% to 100% in 20 mins. I would like a bigger battery though, I'm not sure how easy that would be with this design. Comfort is great. However, I don't recommend using any eyewear more than a single pair of thin-legged glasses. The legs can push the headphones and consequently change the sound by changing the bone conductor's pressure against the skin. Overall, I strongly recommend these if you need premium - grade bone conducting headphones for whatever purpose they're appropriate for. I use them at work, with and without earplugs in. These might be the best sounding bone conductors on the market.

This is the best headset I've owned ever, especially at this price point. I have mostly used it in my HTPC at night during the summer when the windows are open. The range of these headphones after properly setting equalization, and volume on the Shokz app. I wish they had a windows app. Of course they don't match the bass of closed ear headphones, but I can take those for about 10 minutes, and the Shokz, headphones hours without even noticing. I estimate the bass goes down to 30ish Hz, My Test is Ray's first encounter in Closed Encounters. I had to adjust the bass down a little to avoid clipping. Though this particular model is one and done, and then I can use FX sound for further fine tuning, on my HTPC. While setting the equalization and volume I saved the setting. And I did make one phone call successfully to my magic jack phone. Worked fine.

I’m surprisingly impressed with these headphones — but if you’re anywhere near the cutoff between Standard and Mini, learn from my mistake and get the Mini. My measurement is exactly 9.25”, which unfortunately puts me right on the boundary of the sizing recommendations. Because the guidance wasn’t particularly helpful for someone exactly at the cutoff, I did some additional research before ordering. Based on what I found, I chose Standard, figuring slightly too large would be better than too tight. That was a BAD decision. The Standard isn’t just a little loose on me — it’s comically enormous. I can literally fit my entire flat hand between the back of my head and the band. I’d estimate there’s a good 2” of excess space. I also can’t comfortably lean back against a chair or car headrest because the band hits it and pushes the headphones forward. The loops around my ears seem quite large as well, although that may be another consequence of having the wrong size. That’s particularly frustrating because I really like everything else about them. The cheekbone contact points sit very securely, which is important because I bought these primarily for yardwork. My AirPods tend to work loose when I’m bending over, and I wanted something that would stay put without plugging my ears. The sound is much better than I expected from bone-conduction headphones. It has a surprisingly spacious, immersive quality — almost as though the sound is coming from around me rather than from two devices sitting against my head. Initially, I had to turn my iPhone considerably higher than I do with my AirPods to get enough volume. Interestingly, the Shokz app actually puts a “Volume too low? Tap to fix” option right on the main screen, so Shokz clearly anticipates this and provides a way to address it. The app itself is excellent. It shows battery level, supports multipoint pairing, and has several EQ modes including Standard, Vocal, Bass Boost, Treble Boost, Classic, Volume Boost, and a customizable EQ. Surprisingly, Classic is my favorite mode. According to the app, Classic uses only the bone-conduction driver. To my ears, it sounds deeper and more immersive, with an almost surround-sound quality. There is a tradeoff: occasionally I can physically feel a slight vibration against my cheekbones. It isn’t painful or outrageous, but it’s definitely a sensation you have to get used to if you’ve never used bone conduction before. I can’t fairly comment on battery life because the Standard is simply too large for me to wear normally for an extended period. Despite the sizing disaster, I’m impressed enough that I’m returning the Standard and ordering the OpenRun Pro 2 Mini rather than giving up on them. That probably says more about how much I like the headphones than anything else. Bottom line: Excellent sound, secure contact points, great app and a much better first experience with bone conduction than I expected. But if your measurement is around 9.25” (or even 9.5”),based on my experience, get the Mini.

I’ve been using it for one year now, honestly, I got addicted to it. People forgot how I used to look without it. Just keep in mind it’s an open ear concept, so don’t expect a crazy bass that blows your head. It’s amazing for the idea, a headphone that will make you smart, being on your phone watching reels but still listening to the gossips your friends are talking, is a skill

Item is very good and I use it every single day, somehow, the power button failed to work. I contacted the vendor for the warranty. Without any questions and drama, they arranged the pickup and delivery. After a couple of days, I received a brand new item in unopened box.

This is my first ever Bone Conduction headphones I have used or purchase. Having gone through multiple reviews, finally decided to purchase these. As all reviewers have emphasized do not have expectations for it to perform like a normal Headphone/Earphone. With that in mind ordered Openrun Pro 2 after eliminating all the others. On opening the box, it comes with a nice case, the headphones, USB cable (A to C), warranty card with serial and reflective stickers After downloading the app, I pared it with my phone and the registration was done on the fly along with a firmware upgrade. App allows you to multi-pair and adjust EQ to your liking. The build quality is very good and robust. The band sits comfortably on both ear and found no issues with it. I can probably wear this much longer than any headphones/earphones I have owned till date. Coming to the audio, I started with 50% volume on standard EQ, I was pleasantly surprised to hear the audio almost similar to having a headphone/earphone on. Only thing was the bass wont be able to compare to standard ear/headphones, but it was not such that you could not appreciate the bass. In fact it sounds much much better than any mobile phone speakers and better than most portable bluetooth speakers, regarding bass (only way to give an easy comparative description) Picking and answering calls is easy and the mic noise cancellation is awesome, such that the person on the other side will not realize you are on a wireless. Going on a walk or jog the headphones perform 100% to what they are specified for. Have not given a full run for its battery life but will update on it soon. Conclusion: Very happy and satisfied with the purchase abet the price kinds pinches on the pockets. At the time I bought this the similar bone conducting Bose was selling lower than this by 1k+ Would definitely to people who completely understand what they are signing up for.

Not for the audiophiles, but for people, who want sound on. the move (cyclists in my case) and want to hear the surrounding traffic, there is not better option. Would definitely buy again.

Son mis primeros audífonos de conduccion osea y me dejan muy buenas sensaciones. Si los comparas con unos in-ear, es cierto que les falta un poco de detalle y volumen, pero considerando que su propósito principal es no aislarte del entorno, cumplen su función de maravilla y mejor de lo que esperaba. Son súper cómodos; después de un rato de uso, casi olvidas que los traes puestos. El ajuste es perfecto: los utilizo para ir al gimnasio, correr y andar en bici con casco, y en ningún momento he sentido que se vayan a caer. Además, la duración de la batería es excelente y el tiempo de recarga es muy rápido (se cargan mediante el cable USB-C que viene incluido)
