Excellent product
Awesome pot! I could no longer use my heavy cat iron Dutch oven and bought this to replace it. Works just as good if not better than my old Dutch oven. The splatter guard lid is a great bonus that fits great on my frying pans too. Well worth the money!

Functional and Well Made
All-Clad is a well know respected brand so there is nothing more to say about the great quality of this pan. It’s an awesome piece to have that also comes with a ‘lid’ like top that can strain or keep covered that lets a ton of steam out. Truly a great addition. Shout out to the seller- I received an air purifier instead and returned it for the correct product immediately (thank you). I plan on using this pan for year and years.

Beautiful, heavy duty cookware
The All-Clad D5 8 qt pot with strainer is a beautiful piece of cookware. It comes very well packaged, the strainer, lid and pot all secured in two separate boxes (and has a limited lifetime warranty). The strainer seats nicely on the pot. It doesn't make a 'tight' seal of course, it's not designed to. But it sits level, and it pours well. When holding the strainer onto the pot and pouring water out of it, very little drips down the outside of the pot, which is nice. And, it's easy to hold the strainer on the pot when pouring because of the ample (and sturdy) handle design on both pot and strainer. You could use it to strain pasta of most any size, although angel hair might get caught up a bit in the holes. I can see using it to strain homemade stock, which will be very convenient. On it's own, it's a rather heavy pot even without the lid & strainer, which is quite sturdy as well. I have a 'made-in' brand 8 qt. pot that I bought last year (it is the 'duller' one in the photos), and it weighs noticeably less. Not by much, but less. If you're older or have an issue with lifting, just know that when not quite filled with water the weight would be around 25 lbs. Eight qts. water = ~16 lbs. (in any pot, of course). This is not a negative by any means, as any well made, commercial-quality cookware isn't apt to be lightweight. It's just something I pay attention to now that I'm older.I don't have induction, so I can't speak to that feature. I also haven't cooked in it (*update below) - I just put it through the paces of checking the seating of the strainer and lid (both sit properly on the pot, no warping or gaps), pouring water out of it and checking to see how well it pours (very nice), and setting it on my iron/gas burners to see that it sits evenly, which it does. I have no reason to think that it won't be a pleasure to cook in, especially with 5 ply and a rating to 600F, there isn't anything not to like...if there ever is, I'll definitely update my review.**UPDATE: I've cooked in this pot several times now and it performs as expected.I like that it is wider rather than tall. I'm short, so a tall pot is harder for me to manage (as in, to see down into without sticking my whole head over the pot), and I like a shorter pot better for storage purposes as well. This pot is just a tad shorter than the Made-In brand pot; in the photo where they are side by side on the stove, note that the (adjustable) burner is sitting higher under this pot making it look taller than the Made-In on the left, but it's not. The pot alone is actually about 1/4" shorter than the Made-In, and it has a lower profile lid handle.Although the All-Clad is a brushed stainless, the Made-In has a less shiny finish, if that matters to you. It doesn't to me, I'm just showing it for comparison. Both are very nice.I have a tall 12 qt. All-Clad that is around 15 years old, and it still looks like new. This All-Clad D5 cookware is definitely attractive, heavy-duty, 'home-chef' cookware that should last a lifetime, and then some.

Very high-quality and beautiful 8-qt. stock pot/lid, includes a high-quality strain/splatter lid
This large, 8-quart stockpot is beautiful to look at, and the construction is unusually high quality. The outer layer and the innermost layer on the pot are made from heavy-duty, brushed, stainless steel. Contained inside the stainless layers are layers of metals that conduct heat, thus the entire pot heats up (the advantage of “all-clad” pots and pans). The handles, which are riveted on, can get warm due to reflected heat, but they aren’t all-clad so they stay cooler. The pot lid and the splatter guard/strainer lid are both made from shiny stainless steel. This stockpot is several inches wider and several inches shorter than my standard-sized 8 qt. stockpot. Including the handles, it is about 13.5 inches in diameter. The wider, shorter size is an advantage if you’d like to sauté foods before adding other ingredients to the pot. It’s also more versatile than the taller pots. I think it could also be used as a large, deep frying pan, or as a very large casserole dish, for example. In my opinion, the separate strainer/splatter guard lid is genius. I make a lot of large soups and stews from scratch and, no matter how careful I am in trying to avoid splattering, invariably the cooktop ends up with spots and splatters of cooked-on soups, etc. This splatter-guard will end that battle. It will also work well for straining liquid from the pan without getting out a separate colander. The splatter guard/strainer lid is extremely well-made, just like the pot and regular lid. It’s made out of heavy-duty stainless steel too, and it has handles exactly like the handles on the other two pieces. It nests perfectly under the pot lid in case you want to move the pot lid on and off (to retain and/or reduce liquid, for example). The pot is also induction-friendly.The only downside I can think of with this beautiful pot, lid, and splatter/strain lid combo is that it isn’t lightweight. Since it’s large, it’s made out of substantial and durable materials, and it’s multi-layered, it’s heavier than thin-walled stainless cookware. I’m older and it isn’t too heavy for me. However, I’m used to using heavier, multi-layered, stainless steel cookware.Another consideration is that, since it’s wider than a standard 8-quart pot, it does take up a little more space in the cupboard. But not much. My standard pot is probably only two inches smaller in diameter than this one. This is an outstanding piece of high-quality cookware and I highly recommend it.

Top Notch Cookware
I own a set of All-Clad already (which is nothing short of awesome), but didn't have this particular stockpot with splatter/straining lid. I actually really wanted one of these, and was super pleased to come across it. I mainly use it for straining pasta, but theres so much more than can be done with this. The lid fits some of my other pans as well, which is fantastic. I have been using my All-Clad set for some time now, and I have nothing but good things to say about this brand. You can see, and feel the quality right away. They hold up over time, don't tarnish, wash amazing, and cook evenly. This cookware feels like it will last a lifetime, and this is definitely a case of “ you get what you pay for”. This stockpot has been a wonderful addition to my set, and I highly recommend it.
