Orion Motor Tech OMT Wheel Hub Removal Tool Kit, Wheel Hub Buster Puller

I’m no mechanic and anything too technical I have to take in but the price to replace the rear hub/bearing assembly on my 2017 Subaru Crosstrek was too much to not at least give it a try myself. I spent three or four days fighting the rusted hub and could not get it off. We live in the rust belt and this car spent a weekend at the salt flats once so it was extremely rust welded together. I ordered this and another tool and decided to try this one first. This tool made all the difference and the hub came off with minimal effort. I did have to go a little bit at a time otherwise it would get cocked at an angle as it came out so I ran a little bit on one of the caliper mounting ears, then released it and moved it up and ran it on the other and back-and-forth about six or seven times and the hub slowly walked all the way out. Also hitting it with a hammer between each small turn of the air wrench helped to break the hub loose. I was able to repeat on the other side and have the entire job done in just a couple of hours. This tool was perfect! Worth every penny. It’s probably one I won’t use again, but it saved me a ton of money from having to go into a shop.

I should have bought this damn thing years ago. It's truly a no brainer to have. I did all 4 hub assemblies on a 2012 Caravan yesterday it and literally saved HOURS over the last time I did a job like this. By far the best $40 I've ever spent on a tool. It's heavy duty and stout as hell, I was using a Dewalt 20V that puts out 700 ft lbs of torque and this tool was a champ.

If you have ever replaced wheel bearing on a subaru, this is the tool you should have bought. After years of fighting wheel bearings I bought it thinking how good could it be. If you live in the northeast and every tried to remove wheel bearings, you l ow what I am talking about. Didn't really expect much. Surprised me by working so well. Instead of heating up the bearing or trying to beat it out with a hammer. I used this tool. Time to remove wheel bearing after stripping everything down, 10 minutes. This was a 11 year old car. Original wheel bearings, and spent it's winters in pa (brine and salt on the roads). Most of the time this was at least an hour. Beat money i ever spent. Have done 6 others after the first. Same results.

works great however it isn't made for smaller hubs such as Subaru Crosstrek.it crushes a nickle sized area in the rim of the dust shield and i had to place a Hudson bay ax head in between the plate and knuckle to get a press on both sides. it's the only thing I found to get it off except buying a compressor set with hammer chisel. its made of heavy steel.versatile and very durable. a bit much but costs less or the same as a slide hammer but gets the job done quickly. not much rust resistant (but not much is ) ! it'll stay clean as you want it to be.

I wasted a day trying to remove 2 rear hubs on a 2011 ford explorer. I used the slide hammer method and cutting off a stud, then using automotive grade bolts to push it out against the knuckle. While attempting that method I broke multiple bolts in the process. The hubs did not budge. Then soaked it with rust penetrant for a few days. On day two I bought 1/2-inch grade 8 bolts to push them against the knuckle again. I barely got separation while destroying those bolts. First picture will show metal washer & metal strip I used to protect the knuckle while I pushed the bolts against it. Literally, gouging & smashing the metal thin & not budging the hub. On day two I finally had this hub removal kit on hand. This kit was a game changer & time saver. This kit is worth every penny & keeps the headaches away. This kept me from removing it off the knuckle because the next step would have been the press machine. It took about 20 minutes per hub while using an impact wrench. I methodically placed & adjusted the kit at 12,3,6 & 9 o'clock positions to slowly remove the hub out evenly. Can be a little tricky depending on the size/type of knuckle on where to place the forcing screw against the knuckle. Consider placing metal strip to protect your knuckle. I mostly did not use a metal strip with this kit & did not cause gouging to my knuckle. This is perfect for those tough removals. This heavy-duty kit will not disappoint,

I disassembled my car first time and whatever I tried to take out the bearing hub, it didn't work. This time I used this tool and in boom, in just 1 minute the hub was out with this tool. I was hesitate between this and the other design that you hammer on but thankfully this was like magic! Totally recommend it. Go for it if you have a stuck hub.

I've bought plenty of Orion motor tech tools in the past and it's always been great, except for their ball joint press but that ain't what this is about.. I decided I'd give this thing a try and bought it. it arrived today, everything was wrapped like new except the tool itself was obviously used. Don't know how that one slipped and made itself by Amazon or Orion itself. I'm sure it'll still do what it's instead to it's just I didn't want to buy it used
