Fool-proof!!! Makes deviled eggs easy enough for kids.
I bought this after a family member said how easy it is and that the eggs peel better than regular hard boiled.Disclaimer, I think regular hard boiled eggs are super easy themselves. But this thing makes it impossible to screw up eggs.We have chickens and I’ve been using this every week or every other week to use up any fresh eggs we haven’t needed. My kids 10 & 8 can now use it on their own to hard boil eggs and make their own deviled eggs. Who know deviled eggs could be classified as an easy snack? But it totally is now. After the time is up, they flip the switch and let the eggs come to room temp and after awhile put the trays on paper towels in the fridge to cool. They can do this when I’m not even around. The only thing better would be to add in a timer on the device itself!!! Then I could put my eggs in before my shower and not worry about watching the clock. I almost gave it 4 stars. I wish I could give it 4.75 stars. But one time at the beginning I left to go do something and asked the kids to turn it off and they didn’t, do an hour later I turned it off. We still ate the eggs. They were a little overdone but not bad at all. So I wonder if once the water ran out it the eggs just stopped cooking due to the lack of steam. Maybe a safety hazard to do that, but as far as the eggs go they weren’t ruined. After that was when I started letting the kids make them on their own. I realized they really can’t screw eggs up no matter what. I just made them promise promise promise to turn it off when the timer goes off.I haven’t tried the steam tray for veggies or scrambled eggs. I guess I’m just old school. But I do think it would be easy. Especially for a college kid or someone with very little time or no cooking experience, this could really liven up your morning or dinner routine.

Great little cooking device, just make sure to pierce the large end of the egg!
Received my 12-egg Egg cooker today and tried it out after cleaning with soap and water. If the cord appears to be too short as some reviewers complained, turn the base over and you'll find the cord wrapped around a holder. Unwrap the cord and voila, you have now have a 2-foot cord. The manual instructions states to pierce the large end of the egg but doesn't state why. So I pierced 4 of the eggs at the large end and two of the eggs at the small end to see what happens. I loaded the machine per instructions and turned on the unit. Founded out the eggs that were pierced at the small end oozed a little egg white out of the hole and down the egg whereas the eggs pierced on the large end just showed a dimple of steamed egg white. When the buzzer (more like a fire alarm) sounded and the power light turned off I immersed the steamed eggs into ice water bowl for 3 minutes. The heating plate had a funny smell and it turned out the small-ended peirced eggs oozed just enough white into the water and was burning on the now dry plate. Not much of a smell and not an true issue but I'll be piercing all future eggs at the large end! The heating plate was easily cleaned with a wet paper towel. Tried an egg and it peeled really easy and the egg white didn't have the rubbery texture of a boiled egg. Great little device!

Easy, beautiful eggs
So I always hated making eggs in the shell, hard, soft, didn't matter. This works great. The times listed are a little off, how can you make 14 hard boiled eggs in 15 minutes? I increased the time and the eggs came out perfectly.

Buy it.
This is my first review on this site, I have been buying stuff on amazon since its inception, and have never felt as compelled as now to write a review.I purchased this to save time while consuming 3+ dozen eggs a week.I have probably boiled upwards of 10,000 eggs within the past 5 years. Over the years I have learned every trick there is to boiling eggs. This product is a combination of the best aspects I have learned. It also removes most uncontrolled variables from the boiling process. To cut to the point...>Boil with a tad more than the recommended water. (At ~500ft. above sea level)>Use vinegar to clean any hard water spots following use.>Times for soft boiled and medium appear to assume you will be rapidly cooling the eggs to slow internal cooking. (Hard w/out cooling will result in green layered yolks).>Puncturing the eggs on the fat side (top in carton 99% of time) and following directions will result in the shells virtually melting off.>This unit will leak slightly more than the non deluxe version. The leakage is purely due to the pressure buildup from the evaporation of the water. I personally place an upside down coffee mug ontop to prevent spillage. With this product my unquenchable thirst for the unborn may actually be quenched.

How did I live without this?!
Works great! Makes perfect hard boiled eggs every time. I've been boiling eggs in a pot all this time and always have 1 or 2 crack on me and sometimes they are still undercooked....no longer with this handy gadget! Requires very little cleaning too. After use, I rinse the trays and cover with water and set it in the rack to dry. I wipe the metal base with a wet paper towel and that's it. After the buzzer sounds, I unplug it and let the eggs sit about 5 minutes longer because I like them extra hardboiled. I also prick each one before cooking and never had one break/explode on me. The footprint is small and it fits nicely in my cabinet but looks cute on the countertop too.

Very disappointed
This egg maker has no beeper so you have to watch it constantly. The measures for doneness are way off so it is a big guessing game. Very disappointed. Very nice looking but pretty much useless. I bought it because it cooks up to 14 eggs. Can’t even imagine, cannot do 2 properly. This is not our first egg cooker.

Unclear directions
The amount of water used is by ml so if making 14 eggs, you have to convert to teaspoons to figure out the amount. When boiling 14 eggs, I had to double the time of cooking. This could have happened because of water amount I used. There are no markings on the cup for boiling 14 eggs. The markings on the measuring cup are also difficult to see - maybe should be written in black.
