I can NOT compliment Kopp enough on his writing
After reading "If you meet the Buddha on the road...." by the same author, I felt a need to check out his other work. From reading the book mentioned above, I was expecting a similar anti-selfhelp selfhelp book focused more on the positives of individuality. To a degree this IS what this book is about but it is more thought provoking than that.Using mostly quotes and exerpts from Hasidic religious teachings, as well as work by the philosopher Martin Buber, Kopp manages to illustrate the importance of individuality and how losing this would/could/will lead to a life that may be both unhappy and unfulfilling. In doing so Kopp also highlights how religious teachings were the psychotherapy/selfhelp of previous millenia. It is of no surprise that traditional psychotherapy, particularly psychoanalytic psychotherapy is thought to have it's foundations christianity or catholicism.Whether you are interested in psychology or psychotherapy, are looking for answers to your own life or just fancy an easy enjoyable read I would not only advise you to buy this book but also look into other works by Kopp. You will NOT be disappointed.
