The winner
As a musician I’ve been traveling for more than 18 years, and the need for a great portable speaker was always there, to work, to listen to mixes or just to stay updated with the music in the world, I tried everything, from the first Sony’s and Logic to the Bose line, passing trough the B&W and the B&O, some of them with very good audio quality but a lack of battery life, and sometimes with a need of a little more punch or volume. Finaly I get to the Dali Katch, that combines everything I’ve been looking for for years, easy connectivity, amazing sound in definition and quality, tremendous volume without distortion and a long long battery life. Very resistant and reliable speaker, pricey and not very small but in an overall view, the best option out there.

Fantastic bluetooth speaker - highly recommended for classical music
I listen to mainly classical (choral in particular) music and was far from convinced that this speaker would live up to the hype, especially having owned other bluetooth speakers (admittedly cheaper) and been disappointed. However, I am absolutely thrilled with this speaker, as it is able to produce amazingly realistic sound quality from a small unit... it is on constantly in my kitchen or conservatory (both reasonably large spaces) and produces more than enough volume for me, which had been a concern from reading other reviews. It might not suit people looking for booming bass on their pop music but for me it is perfect, as I am more interested in achieving (as close as possible) reproduction of a true performance than a particular ‘style’. NB the laws of physics still apply of course, so don’t expect the same result as from a large pair of floor standing speakers... even with that caveat, this sound is exceptional, to my ears at least...The ‘cloud grey’ version I purchased has a decidedly pink tinge, but this does not bother me and it looks classy, fitting in well with a light and airy environment (eg my kitchen, where this is mainly used). The battery life is great (24 hours claimed and seems about right on my usage to date).I am, overall, delighted and feel I have had value for money, despite the seemingly high price tag.

Small and perfectly formed
I was not completely sure about this purchase, having done a lot of research. Yes, it had won a lot of rave reviews in specialist Hi-Fi magazines and on-line sources, but equally, some of the youtube video reviewers were less than enthusiastic and recommended alternative products. And, the Dali Katch is expensive. I have now had the product for three days and have tested it with my PC, phone and tablet in different locations in my house. I have no hesitation in saying that it is every bit as good as the top reviews have indicated. The sound has fantastic clarity and range and, for its size, real depth of sound. I already have a Bluesound wi-fi Mini Pulse connected to my home wi-fi, and this is a superb little speaker. It is, though, heavy, quite large and needs to be permanently plugged in to the power source. If you have a BT Home hub like me, you will also find that it loses the connection from time to time (BT hubs cannot separate the 2.4 Hz and 5Hz signals, so you can't permanently connect the Pulse to one or the other). I wanted something I could easily move around the house, but that would give good sound quality . The Dali Katch fits the bill perfectly, but not only gives good sound reproduction - it is outstanding. Not quite the depth of sound that the Bluesound can manage, but that is a larger speaker and costs a hundred pounds more. If you have been put off by a few negative reviews, don't be. This is an excellent product. It connects very easily to any bluetooth source and gives brilliant sound reproduction.

This is a wonderful speaker. The sound is clear and deep
This is a wonderful speaker. The sound is clear and deep. I found it best on classical, voice and single instruments like the guitar or piano (listen to Gershwin's rhapsody). There is real depth and clarity. It lacks a little on deep bass for rock numbers. It is very simple to set up and aesthetically pleasing. The description as a cloud grey colour is misleading because actually it is a very dull pink with strong beige tones. An elegant colour though for sophisticated tastes. I am buying another one to get the full stereo effect as a pair although it has pretty decent stereo separation. It sounds different if you put it on the table, floor or against the wall. Had a lot of fun experimenting.

Fantastic speaker. Expensive but worth it.
I have been pleasantly surprised by the sound quality from this speaker. Listened to audible books and plenty of music. There are two settings. A clear setting and a bassier setting. Both have merit depending on the placement of the speaker. Volume is plentiful but I would recommend getting the firmware update from their website as it improves sound quality at high volume. I’m going to try two soon in stereo mode. Has worked with my MacBook. Phone flawlessly and connects easily too. Has a 3.5mm jack in for non wireless devices and a USB port to charge your phone - it doubles up as a portable battery charger.

NOT JUST SOUNDS GORGEOUS - IT`S ALSO BOMBPROOF
Naturally being into HI-Fi since 1971 and knowing about Danish loudspeakers like DALI I thought I`d get my third Kali Katch ( I gave one to my next door neighbour and she adores it) on black Friday for £260 three years ago,I didn`t need to read the reviews - I knew the build quality and reputation from the 1970`s.Anyway to cut to the nitty gritty - on full blast it lasts over four hours but it needs the included multi national mains charger to build up the built in replaceable Samsung battery for 4-5 hours from dead to full.It sounds gorgeous within it`s limits. It`s a multidirectional two times 2 way at 25 watts per side and sounds very detailed and smooth however it is not a party speaker. It is cohesive and very musical and foot-tapping and that is coming from someone seriously into HI_fi since 1971 and selling very serious kit.So I live up North and the Dali can handle heavy rain for two hours no problem. The sound has depth and 3D which is amazing for the size and sounds a lot bigger than the one foot wide two inch thick single speaker. It`s clarity not loudness.Emotion not just boom and tizz.Just buy one I`m on my third and yes they can do discrete stereo no problem at 100 watts on battery - I have a stereo pair but different colours but one sounds fantastic. Two Katch`s sound like a good little micro system indoors. In a word - Amazing.Buy without reservation or hesitation.Still state of the art after all these years.Oh yes the firmware update helps the bass and dynamic range when you give it the beans.
