I purchased the Diaper Genie Select model, intending to use it for cat waste disposal. Overall it seems well-made - good capacity, and easy to open to tie off and change the bags. It is vastly better quality than the Litter Genie, and the hatch is spring-loaded so it closes tightly and does a much, much better job of keeping smells in. The bags are also nice and thick and look very unlikely to tear, it opens easily for bag changes, and the smooth stainless steel interior will be easy to clean (if it ever even needs cleaning, those bags are so thick it may not!). The top opens with the foot lever, but mine doesn't close on its own, it stays open until I either push the top closed or I push the foot lever back up with my toes. This is probably a benefit for a busy parent trying to keep one hand on an infant while they throw out the diaper - you don't have to keep standing on the foot lever to keep it open. I was surprised at first, but I've decided I like it - it's easier to use if you don't have to keep a foot on it while you operate the hatch. It has one notable drawback though - when you put a diaper (or cat droppings) into it, you have to push down on the thing you're putting into it with your hand to open the hatch. Advice for cat owners looking for something better than the Litter Genie - the Diaper Genie is great, but it requires a little creativity. The area around the hatch is wide enough it's no problem depositing cat waste into it, but it's narrow enough you won't be able to fit most litter scoops in to push down and open the hatch. You can either use some sort of "poop disposal stick" to push the hatch open, or you can do what I do and put the cat waste into one of the little bags meant for picking up after your dog on walks. Then you just push the little bag through the hatch with your hand, and the whole thing is very clean and easy. The trick with the dog waste bags would probably work with a full or icky diaper too. There are special brands of dog walking bags meant to break down within 5 years in landfills and leave no microplastics, so it's guilt-free, and less than $25 for a one-year supply. It removes all grossness from pushing... whatever... through the hatch with your hand, and it offers a second layer of odor and moisture control. I highly recommend the Diaper Genie select for diapers *or* cat waste. It's 10000% nicer than the Litter Genie, and the spring-loaded hatch closes tightly enough to prevent any issues with odor or insects.

As a first time mom to a 6 month old, I didn’t necessarily think I needed this product at first. A lot of people told me to buy a product with regular bags or just throw diapers in the trash. I’m here to tell you that I’ve seen those other options in other people’s homes and they suck compared to our diaper genie. Did I want to buy separate bags? Maybe not but I’m a forever customer now! It RARELY stinks bad, it’s easy to use, and we use it multiple times a day! Now I can’t imagine having anything else. If I could give it 10000/100 I would. I think buying the special bags is a small price to pay for a nursery that doesn’t constantly smell like poopy diapers. Every now and then the lid gets stuck at the top like other reviews say but not really a big deal to us. Honestly the only thing I’d do differently is not get a taller one, we do have to take out this size pail maybe once a week, but we don’t mind. Also Costco sells the bags so it’s not bad! I will die on the hill that the diaper genie is superior to the ubbi or any other pail. Nothing can compare to this!

This diaper pail is very convenient and really helps keep the nursery smelling fresh. It seals in odors well, which is a big plus when dealing with diapers every day. The only downside is that the refill bags can be a bit pricey over time, but overall it’s a great product and definitely makes life easier for new parents.

I would rate this 4.5 stars. It's a great pail from diaper genie, but it could be improved. We didn't have any issues with the continuous refills, which are easy to tear-off with the built-in cutter and tie-off. It does a great job of blocking the smell. I'm not sure how many diapers it holds, but we only have to replace the bag every ~5 days. It's metallic, so durable and looks great (not too big, like a small trash can). You can also use for other dirty things, like wipes. Cons - It's metallic, so it does make some noise when opening. However, the soft close does help. In contrast, tried the plastic pail (received accidentally), which makes less noise when opening, but more when closing. - You have to push the diaper through the opening, so may get your hands dirty, and/or caught in the opening.

Great purchase! It controls all odor! Its lid works well it opens and closes with the foot pedal. It stays really clean and the bags are easy to replace. It’s metal and very sturdy. The size holds about 4 days of diapers at a time. So like 30-40 diapers.

I didn't realize how much we need this before we actually had a baby! This was life saving. We thought we will just be taking the diapers out every time. Nope, forget. Buy this, you will safe yourself some time and sanity haha!

I wish the height was taller but other than that, we love it. The lid works great and it keeps the smells out. Love the color and compact enough to put discretely in a corner. Just make sure you order the right refills lol!

Tried the cheaper options and it just does not work as well. With Diaper Genie the smell stays contained and it also has a bigger capacity plus it looks nice. Expensive but definitely worth the money for a reliable and high quality diaper pail that ensures the room does not smell.
