Le Guin: Conversations on Writing Review: Mindful words - Ursula we all know has a way with words, but this book is the wisdom of a woman, writer and sage that makes want to grow even closer. Wish she were still with us, so we could expect just one more. Review: Enlightening - Interesting read. Hadn't realized the depth and breadth of her work. Recommended read whether not aspiring writer or not. Great.

Mindful words
Ursula we all know has a way with words, but this book is the wisdom of a woman, writer and sage that makes want to grow even closer. Wish she were still with us, so we could expect just one more.

One of my favorite wrtiers
These are from a number of talks about writing the late Ms. Le Guin gave. She gives a lot of insight. She's one of my favorite writers, so I had to get it.

Love Le Guin's work, and this is very informative as to her thoughts on writing and experience.

Last Things
I don't really think Ursula K. Le Guin was finished with these when she died. Like all her work, these "conversations"are lucid and persuasive. The kinds of revelation that appear in her completed works, however, are not delivered with authority and come across as openings to interesting conversations rather than fully fleshed-out texts. Worth reading, (of course they are) but lighter and less well thought out than her great fictions or her elegant poems.

Excellent, of course. I'll be using it when I teach a course in writing in the fall.

Too Short by a mile.
Loved this, but it left me wanting more. 109 pages of Ursula is not enough. Makes me want to own everything she's ever written.

Good for Le Guin Fans, So-so for Everyone Else
I suppose fans of Le Guin would be delighted with the interviews in this book as they give much insight into her thoughts and personality. For someone like myself, though, hoping to learn more about writing from a well-liked author, it was a bit of a disappointment. So, if you love Le Guin, get this book. But if you're not particularly interested in knowing more about her, you might was to skip this one.
