Imagine how horrified I was to move into an apartment after selling my house, only to have bedbugs turn up! The inspector couldn’t find any evidence of infestation other than the live one I found, so we still don’t know if it was the apartment, the movers, or the used moving boxes my Realtor kindly gave me. Nevertheless, part of the protocol for eliminating them is to use full encasements for the mattress and box springs if I don’t want to throw them out. There was no sign of bugs on them, so I went for the encasements. I have a king size bed with the usual split box springs, so I had to buy three encasements altogether. FYI, an eastern king split box spring is equal to two twin extra longs. Just saying. I posted a review for the mattress encasement, which was really more important on a comfort level, but a box encasement is important, too. These are tightly woven, lab tested, and if there are any residual critters, they are trapped inside until they die. MWAHAHAHA!!! Oops! That was evil. But that's how I feel about the bugs. I hope I'm the apex predator here. Oops! Back to business... the biggest issue I had against encasements was getting them installed by myself. I’m just a 50-something short chick. I would have appreciated some tips and tricks included with the package, but I was on my own. I struggled with the first one, but the second one was easier having learned from my mistakes. Certainly in the testing process they tested the best way to put the darn thing on your bed. Right? If not, they should have. Again, the value of this is in the dust, allergen, bug properties. The whole thing is tightly woven fabric to keep the heebie jeebies out. Given how long you will keep your bed, and how long this will extend its life, plus that it doesn’t rustle, crackle, crinkle, etc., it’s worth the price.

Firstly, I don't have an issue with bedbugs, so I can't review this product for that. However, I do have a cat and a small dog (pug) who decided to take up residence inside of one of my twin XL box springs (I have a king size bed with two twin XL box springs). They ripped a hole in the underside fabric covering of my box spring and started having parties in there (to which I was rudely not invited, might I add). I tried everything to get them to stop because they were damaging my bed, including using a cheap fitted sheet upside down to cover the bottom of the boxspring, but nothing worked. I found this product and figured it was worth a try. It got here fast. My partner helped move our king size mattress so we could put these on and it took about 5 minutes total. The zippers made it super easy to install. They cover the twin XL boxsprings perfectly without a ton of loose fabric. It's been a few weeks and they've held up to my destructive pets really well. They can't easily claw/pick/dig at the fabric so they quickly lost interest. Highly recommend if you have issues with pets getting into your box springs!

The quality of this product is unmatched by its competitors. I purchased these for my expensive mattresses and then I purchased Walmarts version of this for my cheaper mattresses. Not even close the same. The extra $ IS worth it. I couldn't imagine Walmarts version doing anything beyond protecting the mattress from food and drink messes, so if your looking for something hypoallergenic or God forbid, bedbug control, PLEASE don't go cheaper and count on the cheaper product to help you because it WONT. This WILL. They are expensive so if you are looking for something to help get rid of bedbugs, at least get this product for your box springs if you can't afford to get the cover for both the mattress and box spring. According to research that is their favorite place to hide so you will have much better success, even if you can only get the box springs covered. This is one of those "you get what you pay for", type of product. Also, I guess I made my Mastiff really upset one day because out of no where, he jumped up on my Cal King bed, and peed ONLY on my side of the bed! Urg! I still don't know what got into him, but I do know what didn't get into my mattress and that was a MASTIFF SIZED gigantic puddle of dog urine. I was definitely glad I had this cover on my expensive pillow top mattress for sure. Also, there is a big difference in comfort. I can't even tell the cover is on my mattress, but the Walmart ones are more of a plastic, tarp like feel to it. Don't even use it now. It was a waste of $ AND it(the Walmart brand) said on the label that is could be machine washed and dried. NOT! It melted on one side. Just get this. It's worth the $ and I'd rather spend $60 well, then ultimately waste $20 for nothing.
