Q: How do the trays attach together? Or do they just sit on top of one another and you must pick up from the base?

Hi, they just stack one on top of the other, and yes you need to pick the whole thing up from the base, the top stack is the only one with a lid and it's got a clip closure, so the contents in there are secure. If this jewellery box gets knocked over the whole lot and it's contents are going to spill everywhere, so a good solid position is needed to keep it safe, having said that, it's a really generous size, and solidly built, plus lifting each tray off each other means you can use the whole space of each stack for your jewellery.

Q: The photo shows mink with cream inside however in the description it say its Dove grey with mint inside. Which is it please?

The item I bought for my wife is grey inside. Hppe that helps.
