Some don't think nothing much of it as they can purchase silverware from their local department store for cheap.While others, who especially care for silverware, there are symbols of quality and Mepra is a name and brand that people who are into silverware are familiar with.Mepra was born in 1947, founded by the sons (Pietro, Felice and Giacomo) of Giovanbattista Prandelli in Italy.The name which stands for "Metallurgica Prandelli" was the name that adorned the modernized plant in the upper side of the valley near Lumezzane, Italy which produced aluminum and brass flatware.Because the materials were available after the war, Giacomo focused on the production, Felice focused on sales and Pietro focused on the accounting side of the business.By the 1950, the Prandelli brothers converted their production to 18/10 stainless steel and the business became successful.While the company has grown a lot since then and adding a lot of products to their lineup. They stayed on top of the game by working with influential and avante-garde designers and today, Mepra brings three generations of Italian tradition, design and lifestyle. Products that are still made in Italy.Recently, I had the chance to check out Mepra's Natura five set piece.Continuing Mepra's longstanding tradition of using 18/10 stainless steel, this set is sleek and gorgeous and the Natura collection offers high-end, long-lasting quality without the need of constant polishing.While in Italy, a 20 piece Natura set is sold. In the US, one can get a five piece Mepra Natura set which includes: 1 Table Fork, 1 Table Knife, 1 Table Spoon, 1 Salad Fork, 1 Coffee Spoon and also a variety of other Mepra sets and cookware are sold on Amazon as well. And it's important to note that the products are still manufactured in Italy.The silverware is dishwasher safe and I absolutely love how this silverware looks classic, gorgeous and reflective. And if you are a Mepra fan, knowing the history of their 18/10 silverware, it's great that the company, no matter how much it has grown and products they are make, the 18/10 stainless steel flatware is part of their longstanding tradition many decades later.This Mepra Natura set is a perfect compliment to those who host lunch or dinner parties and want quality silverware and you really can't go wrong with it.Definitely recommended!

I was not previously familiar with Mepra as a brand, However, I looked into the company, which is European. The company is apparently well-known and regarded but no a major American brand yet.I was offered a few different designs but decided to try this iteration without any ornamentation. This is a rather simple but elegant setting.1. What's in the box?: I received a five piece place setting, including knife, dinner fork, desert/salad fork and a large spoon and coffee spoon.2. Aesthetic?: The look, as I stated above is plain. I found the design to be elegant but simple. The handles are curved so it isn't entirely accurate to state it is plain but it is unadorned. I actually really liked the look upon receiving the item, as a matter of fact.3. Use?: It seems when I picked these up that the settings are small. In fact, they are the same size as what we have been using prior, but after so many years, the change seems larger than it really is. Thus, I got more used to the settings. I was impressed by the weight and quality of the build. These are presumably built in Italy.The knife is sharp and can really be used as a steak knife, frankly, it is pretty darn serrated. The forks are nice, The dinner fork has a good form and the tines for both forks are not going to be bent, The spoons are also nice, though the larger spoon is just a little smaller than I used to for the morning cereal. I like the handles, which are curved and present a good feel.Overall: I also ordered this set because I have been considering getting a new settings. I am certainly impressed with the build quality. This is very nice. To me, it is better to spend for a nice set once than things you have to replace. At first blush, this is a nice set at a reasonable price point.

Mepra Natura is a superior quality set of flatware designed and made in Italy. This is a 5-piece set for one person that includes a coffee spoon, table spoon, table knife, salad fork and table fork. This flatware is an investment (families or those who entertain should consider 12 sets to have enough as pieces get lost over time and patterns get discontinued), but this is a high quality weighty 18/10 stainless steel set that should last a lifetime. This design is understated with simple clean lines, but it's classic and elegant too. It has a brilliant shine as opposed to a satin finish. The pieces are balanced and a pleasure to hold as they're a heavy weight and are smooth and rounded with nice curvatures. Mepra Natura is easy to care for as its dishwasher safe and doesn't require polishing.Mepra Natura is a solid and lovely set perfect for everyday use and company too. Italian sizing seems to vary somewhat from what's customary in the USA, but the Natura pieces are close in size and feel natural to me. For total length, I measure 9" for the table knife, 6-1/8" for the coffee spoon, 6-3/4" for the table spoon, 6-3/4" for the salad fork and 8" for the table fork. The coffee spoon handle feels shorter to me than a regular teaspoon, and the table spoon handle seems sized in between a teaspoon and soup spoon. I love the table spoon as the handle length and bowl feel perfect to me for eating everything from cereal to soups. The sizing of the fork handles feel pretty typical, and I find the tines to be a comfortable length for eating. The table knife has fine tooth serrations and feels sharper than my stainless steak knives in another brand and cuts meat well. This Mepra Natura is a beautiful quality set of Italian stainless steel flatware that feels natural and comfortable to use and is an all occasion style. Definitely recommended.
