I am a big fan. I bought the cross 5 version. This cross 6 version has a slightly higher sole - enough to cause knee pain. And I am not sure, but it doesn't feel as giving also.

I spent a lot of time looking into new water proof trail shoes. I walk 2 hours daily minimum, mostly on trails, and I have worn a lot of shoes previously that just don't meet expectations. They might seem comfortable when I first try them on, but when you walk as much as I do, it doesn't take long to find problems that end up causing painful feet which really sucks when you are at least an hour away from home out on wilderness trails. The biggest issue I have found are toe boxes that are too small or the shoes are just too constricting width-wise in general, and my feet are an average width (B). Other problems with previous shoes have been wet feet in supposedly gortex waterproof shoes, and sliding around on wet or uneven surfaces. It has been really difficult finding the perfect fit that is comfortable for hours of daily use on trails. I have never tried Salomon shoes before but I took a risk and I am really very happy that I did. I started out wearing them for several hours in my house and they seemed quite comfortable initially but the real test was wearing them for my three hour trail walk today. They were extremely comfortable for my entire trek. It wasn't raining but the ground was pretty wet and my feet stayed dry. The other thing I really like about these shoes besides the fit is that these shoes seem to have a better grip on wet grass or mucky uneven ground than any shoes I have tried before. Before, I found it frustrating to obtain a good fit in gortex shoes in particular. It has been my experience that gortex runners usually fit smaller than regular runners and it is a bit of guess work to decide if I should buy my usual size 6 B, or go down a half size, or a whole size. I used the provided size guide and measured my feet using a ruler and by putting my heel and the ruler up against a wall. Plus I noted other people stated that the Salomon Speedcross 6 Women's Trail Running Shoes fit true to size. But did they mean "true to gortex size?" or "true to their regular shoe size?" I decided to order according to my measured size via the size guide and my usual size 6 B. My gortex size is usually 7B. These shoes definitely fit true to my 6 B regular size. They are a perfect fit. I am really happy with these shoes and I wish I had found them sooner instead of wasting money on several pairs of previously inadequate painful and/or leaking shoes. To maximize shoe performance and comfort, I recommend pairing the Salomon Speedcross 6 shoes with a good pair of quality hiking socks if you want to do serious trail walking or running as I do. Your feet will thank you. If anything changes to alter my opinion of these shoes, such as not lasting very long, I will update my review but so far I am very happy with the Women's Salomon Speedcross 6 shoes. They are pricey at over $200 Canadian, but they are much better than all the other brands I have tried to date.
