Beyond my expectations
Blown away for the price point and when you hook it up to a larger mo tier it makes things even better so happy I finally pulled the trigger on this microscope

Almost 5 stars, I'm keeping it
Andonstar AD210S-Pro: Very good, not perfect. Close to 5 star. (With update)Assembly was intuitive and easy. The support pole is tilted a bit forward, and that seems to be intentional. The angle looks adjustable, but don't do that before using it - it's probably in exactly the right place. The micro-SD card is next to the power plug in back of the screen, but it's so close to things it's not easy to remove and replace. More room or a different location would help. A graphic to show the correct orientation of the card would be nice.Mechanically the product is solid and stable enough. Probably not enuf to tolerate abuse, but I'm satisfied. The pole and sliding surfaces are aluminum - that's a notoriously bad material for bearing surfaces, it galls easily and doesn't move so smoothly, but the load is light & it should be OK.There is no cap for the lens and it would be hard to clean. I'll need to make a transparent cap - soldering can generate smoke and soot. The manual is adequate for setting up and taking still photos. It says nothing about how to use the video settings, and not much about the PC interface. The manual says it needs a 3A battery pack. Maybe it does, if used with PC, but it worked OK with my 2A pack. A clip or pocket or shelf under it might be nice to hold the battery. At lowest magnification, the field of view is 80x45 mm. Still images show 60x45 mm, but video shows 80x45, so there might be a setting for aspect ratio. Image and photo quality is really impressive, color not quite perfect but pretty close. I didn't notice any latency or lag. There is no problem getting it focused at high power. The slide viewing box is a very nice idea, but this design isn't good. The circular illuminated area has a thick dark ring in the middle that defeats its purpose. It seems like the LED's reflector is the problem, and maybe the diffuser if there is one. I'll have to disassemble it and see if it can be improved, because it's fairly useless as-is. That said, the image quality even at high power remains impressive.I didn't try to use it with a PC. My 2 biggest issues are the slide box and no way to keep the lens clean. A more detailed manual, even if on-line, would also be nice. Otherwise I'm very pleased with this, especially for the price. Almost 5 stars.Update - Andonstar replied quickly to my message about the slide viewer accessory, and asked for photos, which I sent. They inform me that dark ring is inherent in the design - not a mfg defect. So it's not going to be very useful, and should be easy to fix. They offered me a modest refund for the accessory. It's a minor disappointment, but the good news is, they were prompt, responsive and professional about it. No language issues either.

Andonstar AD210S-Pro
Good product very good details when zooming in. Great value for money. Can be used for streaming on popular platforms. You need to adjust the lighting to get best picture, a ring light might help with this. This is true 4K video quality. Aside from the plastic lens housing and lack of wifi, this is better than the AD409 model.

Buyer's regret
Cheap focuser, average image, and only one of the two lights work. The support number is in China so I'm using this with a flashlight.

An excellent microscope for moving beyond the basics.
This device is a significant upgrade from my previous inexpensive, small digital microscope. In addition to a much larger 10.1-inch screen, it has capabilities for both reflective and transmission microscopy, much higher magnification, and higher image resolution.Assembly of the scope requires a few steps, which are covered in the short manual. The power cord splits, with one segment plugging into the monitor and the other powering either light source. The lights for reflective microscopy are two gooseneck lights, while the upward-facing light for transmission microscopy is in the slide viewer. The light power cord must be changed manually depending on which type of microscopy you are performing. The power cord has a power button and two buttons for adjusting the brightness of either light source. To switch from reflective to transmission viewing, you will need to move the microscope up manually by lifting the entire apparatus on the support column to the appropriate height, locking it in place with the thumb screw. Fine focusing is accomplished by turning the adjusting knobs on either the left or right side. The screen resolution and image quality are excellent using either reflective or transmission. I also connected it to a 24-inch monitor, as pictured. The magnification resolution of the provided specimen slides was better than I imagined.A 64 GB micro SD card was preinstalled, and a USB adapter is included for transferring images to a computer. Alternatively, connect the microscope to a PC with the USB cable to save pictures. The onscreen settings available in the menu system are all intuitive. Two AA batteries power the remote, and a diagram in the manual shows its various functions, including lighting control, screen image tweaks, and capturing photos or videos, which is great because you don't have to touch the microscope, which would otherwise affect image stability.Overall, this is far above typical digital microscopes and worth the upgrade if you have maxed out a smaller model.
