Love this knife! Great value. Not the sharpest out of the box but good enough. Button lock is where it's at. Very sturdy when locked in open position. Very smooth action. Button does not lock blade in closed position but keeps enough pressure to avoid accidental opening. Just love the ability to easily open and close knife with one hand. Also the grip feels great and isn't too aggressive so doesn't damage my phone in the same pocket (I do have a case on my phone and might damage phone without case but idk for sure).

This is a solid knife with a serious demeanor and a wicked sharp factory edge. It has a substantive feel in the hand with good ergonomics, a finger choil for choking up on the blade, and ample jimping along the top spine of the blade for additional control. While the deep carry pocket clip won’t win any design awards, it functions well and on this black handled version, blends in innocuously. Here’s the caveat and why I ordered this knife twice. Check the quality control on your copy upon receipt. On the first copy, the blade operation isn’t buttery smooth and the blade sticks and hangs up (see the video). The button randomly jams and requires some force to actuate. It just doesn’t seamlessly deploy and retract without effort. The second copy by comparison, is great! The blade operation is smooth, consistent, and requires very little effort to operate. The button action is less sticky and seems to work as intended. And, the blade doesn’t drag or hang up like the first one. Overall, this is a good knife with a pleasing shark like aesthetic and a solid build quality that looks to perform for years to come. At this price, it’s a good buy. Just make sure you receive a good copy. Time to send the first one back. Hope this review is of help!

This knife is lighter than you expect. In my long line of pocket folders, this 8 inch-er is visually one of the biggest, yet it's surprisingly lighter than most of them. I bought it because it's perfect looking. The top makes one continuous curve from heel to tip. There's no added angles to make it look like a space ship. Someone just removed all the noise and designed a perfect looking thing. It's a subtle set of Earthy grays and every surface absorbs light - it's not reflective. Just sharp looking. Out of the package, it's sharp as b*lls. I didn't sit there slicing paper or shaving my arm like a weirdo, but to the touch, it's a scalpel. But what stands out the most, is the surfaces on this knife. It's just 'different'. The blade has a very fine 'stone wash' to it. The handle's a dark charcoal ( basically black ) when you take it out of the case. It actually reminds me of a good pair of jeans. Nothing rubs off of it ( color-wise ), but it immediately begins to weather with use, and the fabric looking texture in the handle gets more revealed. I personally love that. I'm surprised people complain about it. If you want your knife to look like black plastic and stainless steel, you have a zillion other options. This handle reminds me of an old waxed canvas tool bag. It gets cooler looking with age. I'm into it. But, a reviewer on YT mentioned that he puts some kind of wax on his and it returns to a new finish - if that's what you want. I really dig this knife. Here's my CON: I hate the button release. I prefer a frame lock all day. And every time I close it, my thumb reaches for the frame release ... then I gotta readjust it and sit there pinching the sides and swinging the blade. Buttons are stupid.

Not an organized review. Just putting down some points as I think of them. It's a little pricy for a CIVIVI. It might be the Nitro-V blade that makes it higher priced or CIVIVI has gotten popular enough now they can charge more. Anyway, it came sharp but not as sharp as I like. I have a high standard for sharpness. I have gotten $300 knives that I felt I needed to sharpen right out of the box. This is the first Nitro-V I have ever had. I like it so far it takes a little work to sharpen and can be gotten super sharp. Kinda makes me think 20CV. I can't speak much about edge retention because I have had it for less than a week. It's still razor-sharp. The handle fits fine in my med/lg hand. You can feel the pocket clip but it's not that pokey. I have the black micarta version and the pocket clip has good retention and slides easily in and out of the pocket. The flipper tab works but has very little traction and is a little weak. You can easily fail to flip it. That was disappointing but might be the nature of the button lock. I don't have any other button lock flippers to compare it to. It has a fuller or grove that gives enough traction you can spydi flick it. Mine will not drop shut, even with the button fully pressed. I have been playing with it a lot so I know it's broken in enough but I have not tried to adjust the pivot yet so it could get better. The centering is spot on and the lockup is solid.
