I had to put back up with some other 3M backing. It wasn’t that the ones provided aren’t sticky, but not strong enough for how rough I am with things and how heavily I filled them initially. I feel like these might be useful for makeup too.

**Q: Is the adhesive permanent and hard to remove or are they like 3m command strips that remove easily without leaving glue on my monitor? thanks**
A: It's super easy to remove.. I've had mine for so long the adhesive stop working.   .. I used 3mm to keep using them. I love them

**Q: Why not use magnets to hold them on the screen?**
A: Because screen / frame is plastic or a metal that magnets don’t “stick” to

**Q: Can these free hang or do they need to use the desk to keep them stable?  I ask because my computer screens are mounted and are up high from my desk**
A: The don’t hang free very well at all. I have my monitors raised and could not use then there. Attached to the side of my printer that’s within reach.

**Q: Would they hold tape?**
A: These would not even hold a couple of pens for me. If you want them to stay on you will need to find your own adhesive and not use whatever tape they have pre adhered to the plastic.

As mentioned in many of the reviews, after about three weeks, the pencil holders fell off the monitor - the adhesive would no longer hold them. I removed the adhesive and replaced with some velcro on the monitor and the pencil holders, and problem solved. Disappointed that I had to do that, but I do really like the product otherwise.
