Fun kit!
This kit was fun to build. It is a near duplicate of PEMENOL's Rotating Universe Model kit. The base PCBs are the same, but have different graphics, while the top piece is entirely different in appearance but operates on the same principle. As with the universe kit, power for the upper levels is passed through concentric traces and a pair of springs attached to screws that in turn attach to traces on the next level. This allows the motor to rotate the upper levels of the model while at the same time providing power for the top level LEDs. It's a clever design.Like the universe model, this kit includes one surface mount component in the form of the KT148-A voice/music chip. This chip allows designers to include up to 420 seconds of audio in these projects without dedicating much PCB real estate to it. And so, as the astronaut rotates, you will be treated to some music. For someone with a fair amount of soldering experience, this is probably a 2-hour build, start to finish. Add another hour if you're a novice.

Astronaut Soldering Kit for Beginners
This kit for beginners is like many other “beginner” kits I’ve seen. While yes, it is for beginners, you still need a level of knowledge before attempting it. That isn’t to say you can’t gain that knowledge along the way, and either way this piano will challenge you, your focus, and your patience. The payoff is there, though, and I believe you will be happy with the result if you stick with it. There are a lot of components to this one, and I always think that the more components there are, the happier I am with the final product.
