You can also use more or less pressure when you clamp the tool on your hair, for example, I use less pressure and less time when closer to my roots so they don’t get that weird straight line at the top of my head and then as I move down I use more pressure and hold it a few seconds longer. Use a light coat of texture spray before and after and comb through your hair with your fingers to separate the waves and it won’t be frizzy. Use a volumizing power in your roots after so that it doesn't look flat compared to the rest of your hair. I also pull the tool up and away from my scalp when I am at the roots so it gives it a bit of volume. **Q: Will it curl straight hair?** A: Yes. I have the blue version of this and when I crimp my fine pencil-straight hair, it stays. It all depends on the prep of your hair. A good heat protectant and having next-day hair, or applying a good dry shampoo to give it some texture, will make the curl/crimp stay. Also, keep the heat low. Most styles can stay with just 375-degree setting. A good flexible hairspray will also help. **Q: How does this work?** A: Section a length of your hair and work this tool down the length, crimping one section of the length at a time. Unlike a curling iron, it is "top down" and not "rolling up". I have shoulder length hair and I love this tool! **Q: My hair just looka crimped and frizzy.
