Review: Lots of healthy, easy recipes for regular meals or fancy ones - OK, this book grabbed me at budget friendly. In a world that seems determined to empty my wallet I am happy to have recipes on hand that not only play nice with my budget but feature healthy recipes that my family will actually eat. Who hasn't tried a new recipe and put it in front of their family only to have everyone snarl and turn up their noses because it's something different? Who hasn't spent hours browsing social media and websites looking for something different to put on the table at meal time? I really like the upfront index. It certainly saves me time once I identify recipes we really like. It also makes it easy to browse and see what might be good when I don't have time to just read the whole cookbook. I was pleasantly surprised to find a good number of recipes that actually are what my family would consider normal. If I can cook something that they are somewhat familiar with and that looks good they will try it even if it is new. The book features a good selection of vegetarian recipes. I tend to skip over these because we are a family of meat lovers. I do occasionally find good recipes in that section. There are no photos in the book. This is bad because you can't see what the dish is going to look like, but also good because you don't get bogged down looking at the pictures. I always check the meal plans in any cookbook that contains them. If I can get ideas and save time in the kitchen I am all in. Like most Mediterranean Diet cookbooks this one contains recipes with ingredients and titles that not only can I not pronounce but they're kind of scary. Fortunately, however, I usually find some real nuggets of gold scattered among the super exotic. I recommend this cookbook to anyone looking to add healthy food that tastes good to the family meal plan.
