Nice looking boots
If you live in the UK donโt size down. Order your true size. I usually wear a size UK 9 and know they fit as I already own a pair . I wanted another pair in a different colour so ordered a size 9 uk (us 9.5) and also uk 9.5 (us 10). Amazon sent me a US size 9 which equates to uk 8.5 by accident but I know it would be too tight from a previous purchase experience so there was no point of even trying them on. I kept the size 9.5 because these are slim fitting boots and I wanted just a little more room for thicker socks. If you have a slim/medium width foot buy your true size. If you have medium/wide width foot then go half size up; this will allow for a thicker sock in the winter. Either size will fit depending how much extra room you want. They do look brilliant; they have a very good profile/last and are very versatile and can go with either jeans or chinos/trousers. They are not too chunky but not as slim as some dress boots which I find too slim. The quality is okay. We are so spoilt in the uk as there are so many fine shoe brands from Northampton. I have boots from Loake, Barkers, Trickers etc and compared to these brands the quality is not as good when you compare the stitching and leather quality if you examine them side by side. I would rate the Thursday boots as 7 out of 10 and our UK Northampton brand boots between 8 to 10 depending on which model you buy. The creasing on Thursday boots are more noticeable when compared to our Uk boots. You can see more ripples on them. However for style and the way they look I rate the boots 9 or 10 as they are a really nice looking boots. I am just waiting for my refund and I will buy another pair in a different colour. I just hope this time Amazon sends me a UK size 9 which is what I ordered instead of a US size 9. I would condition the boots immediately to avoid the creasing ripple effect. Use a spray conditioner if you are buying the rough and rugged models. I also hope Amazon stock the other colours/model in the UK9 or UK9.5 as there is not much choice; Amazon please sort this out. I intend to buy more in other colours. The price is also reasonable compared our UK Northampton shoes and boots. I would wear the Thursday boots every day and Northampton boots on special occasions. Thursday boots are everyday boots that are comfortable, reasonable good quality, extremely versatile, very handsome. Every stylish man should have at least a Thursday Captain boots in their arsenal.

Comfortable, good looking, well made boots, at a reasonable price!
Didn't know what to expect when I ordered these from Amazon. I followed the advice and went down half a size over what I would normally buy. I ordered a UK 9.5 (US 10) and the fit for me was perfect out of the box, which was great. The other surprise was how little break in they required, almost none. I put them on and took the dog for a 2.5 mile walk with them on, and within about 10 minutes they felt like I'd had them for months. The footbed isn't removable but the poron/ cork insole they use certainly works as well as any of my other boots. Quality wise they seem very good for the money so far. The leather is soft and breaks in really well, the lining is of good quality. The only thing I could see was one of the nails on the heel wasn't punched down far enough, but so far that was it and an easy fix. Everything else, stitching, eyelets, sole etc. seem very well put together and the comfort so far has been extremely good. I walk about 10km a day and so far in the last 3 days, they have been near perfect, the heels showing little wear. I own a lot of boots some more than double the price, are these finished as well as my Trickers, Loake 1881 etc? Probably not, but for the price they are very good and significantly better than the Timberlands I own, which are a similar price range and slightly smarter. So far a good buy!

Take online reviews with a pinch of salt but overall good boot
Black matte 7uk/7.5us I was in the market for a pair of new boots and after some research on YouTube, Thursday seemed like the way to go as they received almost universal praise. Here are my thoughts : Quality/Construction - Reasonably thick leather upper, free of marks or scratches which is always positive. - Pretty standard round laces that apparently are Kevlar reinforcedโฆ.Annoyingly they tend to come loose for me a lot.. - Eyelets and two speed hooks - Leather heel stack and rubber top lift - Goodyear welt construction, which from my limited knowledge on the subject means the boot can be easily re-soled - Black studded rubber sole - Leather insole with nice soft leather lining Overall I felt that the quality of the boot was great, no issues there at all. Easily the highest quality boot Iโve ever owned. Canโt really comment on how waterproof they are with much authority but Iโve worn them in fairly heavy rain a few times now and my feet have remained dry. I would say that unless you are treading through puddles or streams or something you should be fine. Style - Medium profile - Black matte leather - Toe cap style stitching on theโฆtoeโฆ.shocking. I have had Dr Martens in the past and Iโve always felt that they were quite bulbous around the toe and had no real shape to them, all the review videos I watched on YouTube remarked that the captain boot had a slim silhouette - a big selling point for me. Once I opened the box and actually saw the boot in the flesh I was a little disappointed, I wouldnโt say that itโs slim or low profile at all. It has a slimmer profile than a Doc Marten boot but I certainly wouldnโt really describe the profile as slim. I ordered the matte black leather version of the boots, which at the time I felt would be the most versatile and I think they look great, very understated and donโt draw a lot of attention which I like. It remains to be seen how they will age and patina over timeโฆhopefully nicely. The type of leather is also very resistant to scratches and marks, I think this is due to the leather being quite oily, which is an added bonus. Comfort/Fit - 7uk/7us - Solid, stiff upper and sole I usually take a 7.5-8 in trainers and usually a 7 in boots. I ordered a uk 7 and received a us 7.5 (as expected) and they fit me very well and for he most part are very comfortable. I do think the YouTubers making videos on these boots do exaggerate the comfort level somewhat but they are certainly comfortable boots. For me the break in period was pretty rough, it took around about a week of daily wear to โbreakโ them in and get them to a point where they didnโt hurt me. Perhaps I just have delicate feet or ankles but I had several blisters for the first couple of days. One issue that I did notice, which could be totally unique to me, was that the left boot in particular for whatever reason was very uncomfortable for the first few days and rubbed against my ankle bone ALOT. Sole/ Grip - Adequate grip in good conditions - Poor grip in bad conditions - Sole is slim in profile The grip level has been the biggest let down for me with these boots, it is adequate in dry weather but as soon as it rains or Iโm on a less than rough surface the grip is very weak. I regularly find myself sliding all over the place while just walking around city centreโฆground. I have not slipped to the point of falling over yet but I fear it will come and it will likely be embarrassing. Iโve never had a grip issue with any other boot Iโve owned. Grip aside I actually really like the look of the sole, itโs got a slim and low profile which I really like in comparison to the chunkier soles found on doc martens or timberlands. Conclusion - Fair price for the quality - Once broken in are comfortable - Grip is lacking - Feel like the online hype is probably a little exaggerated Overall Iโm pretty happy with the purchase and would recommend them to anyone wanting better than normal quality boots. Just bear in mind that there will likely be a break in period before the boots are comfortable and the rubber studded sole can have appalling grip.

Thursday Captain Boots
These are impressive boots. I had no problems with loose stitching or scratched leather and they look great. Thursday quality control appears to be much better than in the early days of this relatively young company. I usually take a UK 11 and although the advice is to order down a half size I didn't and ordered 11s. I'm glad I did because the boots are not oversized and I can wear thick socks with them for winter. These boots required very little breaking in and I have had no heel rub or blisters at all. The insoles feel very comfortable and give a nice cushioned feel to my feet. The leather is good quality, uniform in colour, and should develop a nice patina with wear. Thursday was aiming for a hybrid between a work boot and a dress boot and I think they have succeeded. Of course this means that the last used is narrower than a typical work boot so if you have a wide foot (greater than 'D') these may not be for you, although I believe a wider width is available in the US. By manufacturing in Mexico they have managed to keep the costs down and Goodyear welted boots of this quality made in the USA would cost a lot more.

Great Boots, But Disappointing Service from Amazon
The boots themselves are excellent, so my low rating isnโt due to the product but to Amazonโs service. Hereโs what happened: I first ordered a pair of Thursday Boots in size 7.5 UK, but they were too small, so I returned them and received a refund. Next, I ordered two more pairsโone in size 8 UK and the other in size 8.5 UKโto ensure a perfect fit. However, when my order arrived, both pairs were actually size 8.5 UK. On one pair, the โ0.5โ on the shoe tongue had been scratched off, misleadingly marking them as size 8 UK. I returned both pairs, and Amazon received them on 15/08, but I still havenโt received my refund. As a result, Iโm currently out ยฃ400 with no clear idea of when Iโll get my money back. Unfortunately, Amazonโs service has been disappointing. In the end, I ordered a fourth pair in size 8 UK, which fit perfectly, and Iโm happy with the boots. My low rating is for Amazonโs service, not the product or seller. I hope the seller sees this review and can assist, as I truly love their product.

Extremely comfortable shoes but quality control could have been better
I bought the shoes and went half a size down from the sneaker size I normally wear. The boots are OK but I think I could have even gone down a full size! However, the shoes are extremely comfortable and break in time is very short (take about 10 minutes to loosen up, my first walk was 2hrs long and no foot pain) The materials are good, however the quality control could have been much better! some stitches are a bit loose, and one very annoying thing is that the sole of the left shoe is different compared to the sole on the right shoe, therefore the shoes are asymmetric and the left shoe is much higher than the right shoe. This is dissapointing and therefore I only give these shoes 3 stars. If this problem didn't exist I would definitely score the shoes a 5 star rating...

Does what it says they do.
Arrived ontime, OTP no problem. They smell gorgeous- something you'll never experience from a cheapo shoe or boot. Comfy AF once they're on, but as they're brand new today, TBH I struggled to get one on as the widest part of my foot is wider than the narrowest part of the boot- As they get worn in a bit, smoothed off etc, I'm sure they'll be fine. I was an odd feeling actually feeling 'proud' of footwear, but as it was Xmas day family altogether, I found myself showing them off- all of my extended family agreed they looked dead smart, felt like top end products ought to and yes, they all agreed that they smell gorgeous! (Hey, day one new leather smell, stop judging me!!) The most I've ever spent on footwear in my life, but no regrets so far! Fit as expected- I wear 47 to 48 Euro in more rigid boots (Like my over-armoured MX boots, always 48, or bog standard stuff like Scetchers in 47 Euro) so I ordered 13.5uk, 48 Euro in these Thursday Captains( R&T, burnt copper) and they are the right fit for me on day one. Will update if opinion changes

Captain Stormkings
Very impressed out of the box. Lovely leather smell and clearly high quality and well made, makes what most are selling on the UK high street look like junk. Took the punt buying online as I seem to be a standard size 8 and don't have any issues with sizing (I can buy branded trainers without trying them on). I didn't size down 0.5 as recommended by Thursday Boots and believe that was the right decision as they are a very good fit. I ordered from the site as UK size 8 and they are labelled as US 8.5 as they should be Worn them around the house for a few times before going out. I suspect these will taker significant time to break in, although I don't have any concerns. I suspect reviews saying they didn't take much breaking in may be from younger guys - Been a long time since I had to break in proper leather boots! I'll be interested to see how this process goes over the next week or two and I'm going to go very gradually with it. Other than that the only other test will be how they last over time, and on first impressions I think that will be very well. I will return to review again once I have had them for a while. Definitely recommended

Low Price for Quality/Fashionable Boots
Boots came in and I instantly put them on as you do with every new piece of footwear the instant it arrives, the fit was snug, but very form fitting and comfortable. Since I wear a size 11 in most sneakers I decided to heed the advice of Thursday and go down to a size 10 for the boots. After 1-2 wears they're snug as mentioned, but I expect them to conform to my feet and ankles quite well as I can tell that these boots are the real deal. By the way, went with brown captains and have gotten 2-3 compliments each day(from pretty ladies). Overall outstanding for a pair of boots, and Thursday is selling for $200 which is a ridiculously good deal.

Great purchase, would comeback for the Vanguards in the future.
I love the style of the brown Thursday's Captains, water-proof good-year-welt construction and the affordable pricing. I have walk 300000 steps in the last 1.5 months in these brown captains across Europe. They fit right on the day I've purchased them with a slight hint of tightness on the right boot (I have a slightly larger right feet than my left). It took about 3 weeks to fully break them in to be fully comfortable to be mine, as I got infrequent blisters on my right toe. That's probably I am wearing these boots in the hot summers of Europe. I remedied the issue once I sprayed antiperspirant on my feet. These boots save me for being grippy in the rugged European roads, also from the extreme rains occationally. I was once trapped in a torrential rain accompanied by minor hail in Southern Germany, the grounds were all flooded up. Not too high, but would habe definitely soaked sneakers. My friends had their sneakers soaked and one of them caught a cold from that. Me on the other hand had dry feet and felt insulated from the hail/rain downpours. I later used some RedWing shoe cream to condition my Brown Captains and they look great again. There are a few scuffs on the right toe cap and the sides from normal wear, but I like my boots looking a little worn as it adds character to it. Thus, I would highly recommend the Thursday's Captains if you are looking for an affordable pricing, decent quality, stylish and very water resistant pair of boots.

Be patient - takes time to break in
Looks awesome - took an uncomfortable 2 weeks to break in but now fits beautifully. High recommended.

Sharp Looking Boots
There was a burr on the top left hook/eyelet of the left boot that cut my thumb. It wasn't a major cut and did bleed, but it mostly perturbed the Ship High In Transit out of me. I emailed Thursday and they promptly replied in 24 hours offering a discount on my next purchase. The boots are so nice, that I will definitely take them up on that offer. I wore them 4 days straight last week, and I would consider them 80% broke in. Multiple compliments have come, including a vagabond in downtown Chicago that said "I like your boots, they are classy and rugged. They can go with anything" I was wearing them with nice tan dress slacks. Later that night I wore jeans to a concert and multiple compliments followed. I didn't expect fashion advise from a transient begging, but I'll take it. If you want to spend under $200, and get nice boots, buy Thursday Captains. I cannot comment on durability, but they look awesome. The leather is sweeter than Georgia tea as well.

Be patient with break-in if you have wide feet - they will break in!
Followed the Thursday website sizing advice based on my sneakers sizes (EU41, E width). Mild panic as the first time I tried them on they felt too tight. I measured the length of the boot (7.5) versus my other shoes and the length seemed fine, although they were definitely narrower in the mid foot. If I was EE width I would have had to order from Thursday direct a EE width pair. I'd heard reviewers talk about 'almost no break-in', although I suspect they may have ignored the half-a-size down advice from Thursday, or perhaps had narrower feet. Other reviewers spoke about wearing them every day for 2 weeks to break in, in some cases acknowledging they prefer a snug fit with their boots. I took some time to break them in - had some hot spots and blisters on my heels, but they've finally broken in to a point where they are comfortable now - I feel that my foot can fully relax in them, and the mid foot did eventually break in nicely. I would have loved some indication of what to expect with break in for wide feet (a note in the box?), as this would have made me feel I was taking less of a gamble with seeing how it all went with break in after the initial try on. They look fantastic, and have a great new leather smell out of the box, that definitely sticks around for a while! Will definitely give Thursday a look-in for my next pair of boots - recommended.
