Saves your life.
Found the alarm well made and really good fixing ideas.

Sliding unit onto baseplate nearly impossible
Sliding detector onto base plate took an enormous amount of pressure. Dreading having to change batteries.

BRILLIANT if they save your life
I was replacing smoke alarms after 10 years as recommendedThey are mains wired the an interlink cableSix alarms altogether ~ three optical, one Ion, one heat and one carbon monoxideI checked the Optical alarms and assumed the others were the same fittings ~ they were except for the carbon monoxideThe house wiring just pushes into the alarms ~ they don't tell you how much bare wire to expose the fit neatly into the alarm base ~ I figured on about 6mm after some trial and error. A simple diagram or instruction would be a clever addition to the instructions with these push in sockets. There are eight wires going into small (25mm) strip in pairsWe're fitting 1mm lighting cable hereWith eight wires in place, one or more kept popping out as I moved the base into a good place to fix to the ceilingI ended up making the earth connection outside the Kidde base to simplify as the alarms don't use the earth.I'm not a fan on the new improved system!!I got them all fitted except the carbon monoxide and tested them. All the alarms linked fine ~ I had double checked the wiring block before putting the cover on.All alarms tested but I was left with the chirping alarmsPossible bad battery or an isolation chamber problemIf only Kidde had a little reminder in the instructions about the batteriesThe batteries are fitted the wrong way round ~ all you need to do is take them out and fit them correctly + to + in the battery holderI eventually found my mistake, my assumption that Kidde had fitted the batteries ready for useI can see why they do it but a simple one liner in the instructions would have been so very useful.
