The car manual says to change transmission fluid every 50,000 milesTransmission is working again for now, changed the filter, added a bottle of Lucas transmission fix and the same amount of ATF that came out when I took out the old filter(minus a quart to replace with Lucas transmission fix), ...cleaned everything up before putting things back together.Watched a few videos about it, ... I did not do a flush, just a change of filters and only added what came out, it was about 6 quarts. There are a lot of videos with the grim message, "don't expect changing your fluid to fix your transmission" ... in my situation it's going good, for now.

2008 Saturn Vue Greenline Hydromatic 4 Speed 4T45 Transmission
Filter and Gasket looked identical to the OEM AC Delco parts I replaced. The metal insert had some rubber that looked like it was pealing off, that's why I gave the review 4 stars out of 5 as I had to rub my fingers around it to take off loose rubber. Wasn't too happy about that because any contaminants in the transmission may cause it to fail. However I was able to clean it off enough to make me think at least it should be good.Trans took 6.7 quarts of fully synthetic Dexron VI transmission fluid after the pan drop. 8mm bolts were removed and then torqued to 124 inch pounds using a quality torque wrench (note I've known people to crack bolts with cheap ones like the ones from harbor freight). The Fill bolt is 11mm on the passanger side and the engine needs to be running and level (can use magnetic level and attach to pan) when removed... after filling enough fluid should leak out of the fill bolt. When done don't turn off the engine as you may lose 2 quarts... tighten the bolt while engine is running to 124 inch pounds using Loctite 242. Note 124 inch pounds is manufacturer specs for what it was built with... service specs is lower about 89 inch pounds. However, 124 seemed to work fine for me. Just don't break the bolts or have the car drop on your head and you're good. Finally realize the earlier 4T45 transmissions received a service bulletin 08-07-30-04-0B on May 6, 2009, look it up in Google. It calls for the replacement of the old square magnet to be replaced with two GM Part # 29535617 magnets. The bulletin corrects an issue where the old square magnet was under powered allowing the metal to adhere to the solenoid instead of the magnet in the transmission pan. To fix this they ask you to discard the old square magnet with two round ones and show you where to position those round magnets. If you're going to drop the pan it's worth the $16 to fix this for the two magnets as it could trash the transmission using the original square magnet. If you don't have the 1 square magnet in your pan it's probably already been corrected or doesn't apply.

Great gasket and filter kit at a decent price
Recently installed into a 2008 Pontiac G6 GT 3.5L V6 4 Speed 4T45-E with 7 quarts of Valvoline Maxlife ATF.Procedure:1) Securely raise car and let car cool down.2) Strategically unbolt the 8mm bolts (start from front and slowly pry open) and slowly drain fluid from transmission pan into a large pan and remove along with gasket.3) Remove old filter by grabbing its ends and wiggling it loose by pulling it down back and forth.4) Remove filter gasket seal by wedging a flat head screwdriver in between the gasket flange and transmission and carefully hammering inwards to deform old gasket and break seal (be careful not to gouge and damage aluminum mouth).5) Replace new filter gasket seal by placing it by hand and slowly tapping its edges evenly with a mallet until its lip is flush against the flange.6) Replace new filter by inserting it until it can no longer be inserted further. The ends will still be able to move, but it should be tight and stationary.7) Bolt on cleaned transmission pan and magnet with new gasket properly aligned with all bolts torqued to at least 8 ft/lbs, or 89 - 96 in/lbs.Use extra long funnel and fill with roughly 6 quarts of ATF.8) Start the car and idle the car while running through all the gears periodically to warm up the ATF to operating temperature.9) Once the ATF is warm, remove the 11mm fill check plug on the passsenger side of transmission and slowly pour more ATF in until it starts to drip from the hole. This check plug is designed for warm ATF. ATF expands as it warms up, so cold ATF would not likely give you a correct level.10) Replace fill check plug, start engine and run through all the gears allowing fluid to flow through the whole transmission before test driving.Notes:Filter and gasket seem to be of very high quality.Unfortunately, the stock drain pan doesn't have a drain plug, and spending $30 for a pan with one wouldn't be a bad idea considering how much less time and cleanup this job needs. If yours doesn't have a drain plug, unbolting the front four bolts and moving backwards while prying and draining is the way to go. Also, when removing the filter gasket seal, make sure the screwdriver doesn't slip and avoid gouging by coming at around a 15- 30 degree angle from parallel with the screwdriver. If you need more help and reference and can't find any helpful information, try widening your search by looking for information on the 4T45-E transmission itself, not your car model, as many cars use this transmission, and you will get more results.

Good quality and fit
I purchased this filter, filter seal and gasket for my 2007 Saturn Ion 3, 2.2L w/ 4T45E transmission. All components in the product description were received, in solid packaging & excellent condition. The filter, seal and gasket are made with good quality and fit without any issue. When I installed the products, I torqued the transmission pan bolts to MFG specs and have not had any leaks.
