BlackBerry KEY2 Silver Unlocked Android Smartphone (AT&T/T-Mobile) 4G LTE, 64GB

My KeyOne had its screen pop off about a month after its 1 year warranty, and felt it was time for an upgrade. Die hard blackberry fan, and user, since the OS10 days. I received the silver version, and am enjoy it so far, and reminds me of my passport I loved - but was way too big for one handed use. The new key2 seems to be a vast improvement over the key1, and the phone blazes through speed. I don't use my Key2 other than business, so it's devoid of any social media, music, or hungry apps other than email, and enterprise apps. Only downside are the speakers. They are a solid C- grade, and even hearing text messages makes me cringe. Same note on my iPhone, which I use for my personal and all media function, would sound delicate yet clear - whereas these speakers sound tinny, hollow, and very limited in speaker range. Speaker phone however, is about 20% more loud than MAX, on the Key1, which was a big issue for me. Call quality is excellent however, and once I updated all settings to the T Mobile APN, all functions are retained. LTE, voip, WiFi messaging, all work so far If the phone were a little heavier, it would feel substantial, but the build quality is high, without any flex or creaking when applying pressure on frame of phone. If youre a business's owner, the blackberry hub is worth converting, and then the phtyscial keyboard makes typing while looking at the screen redundant. It's it's efficiency you seek, the Key2 is a home run. Edit 1 - migrated and setup the phone to how I wanted it and, after a day of networking. This phone cuts out seconds over every input and I findmyself immersed in accurate note taking, and for when I need to look at sheets and business applications. Absolutely stunned. They keyboard is breaking in and buttons getting softer - I did not like the keys off the KeyOne and felt the keys were too tight, and offered limited ergonomics for all finger types. The key2 has addressed this, and i actually preferr the slight wobble in the keys, as I feel a physical depression of the keys, as I blast through emails. Speakers are crap. That's for sure. In ear calls are very clear however - and I'm only referring to the speaker for media/notes/sounds/etc. Battery life amazing. Was at an networking event, with my major shortcuts set - and it's the first time I was going faster than the info being presented. Impressed. My own efficiency has now increased 20% as the phone is snappy, efficient, and long uses/charge.

Excellent phone....period. Everyone seems to have an unobjective 'opinion' these days about what they 'like' or 'dislike' while ignoring the simple facts. Like many consumers, I prefer facts and details. The Blackberry KEY2 is a blend of Blackberry security, efficiency, and quality, with all the advantages and apps offered by Android software - a powerful combination. It's very well built and professional in design, is powerful and quick, textured back that doesn't slip and feels great, and has excellent download/internet speeds. The email, texting, phone, best-in-industry security, internet, multi-day battery life, and physical keying functions are super....and the qualities that I need. The camera and video capabilities seem very good, and are absolutely fine for 95% of humanity. The price is certainly in line with the specs, advantages, and quality traditionally offered by a Blackberry phone (important for many of us who haven't forgotten that BLACKBERRY was once the BAR for many years by which the other manufacturers were measured). For those who dive under water, desire a photography career, enjoy a pretty color, or for some reason just desires to spend $900-1000 on a device that is factually inferior in numerous ways, well good luck. I was able to purchase a new silver KEY2 for $500 + tax with Amex and the Amazon discount - as many may agree - a superb price considering everything that comes with the phone.

While overall I can recommend this product there are a few nitpicking items of note. Things I hate: - the capacitive keys are redundant and reduce Screen potential - the piece that covers the keyboard has visible gaps and doesn't appear to fit flush. -tapping on the back or front lower portion makes a noticeable tinny vibration. - lastly, there are 2 speaker grills on the bottom but only 1 speaker. Things I love: -battery life, while on a road trip I managed to get 10:30 of screen on time while watching HD video. -the keyboard is love, the keyboard is life. -quick launch apps using keyboard -keyboard is a trackpad -Call quality is fantasic -built in security program -Programmable side key -spacebar is the fingerprint scanner Other things of note: -the camera is only ok for a 2018 phone -screen could be better Update (9/18/19): why I'm going back to Samsung. First off let me say that this was not an easy choice for me. I dearly love the keyboard however, for all the things the keyboard adds it also takes from everything else. If I were only using this device for business then I would have no problems with it. To use it for just about anything else the small LCD display just isn't near the experience of a full screen phone. videos, photos, games, and so on are ok if you have to but nearly any new full screen phone is a better viewing experience. A few other reasons I'm switching back are lack of waterproofing, no wireless charging, and only a mediocre screen quality. Message for the developers: I love Blackberry, but the format of the 3/4 screen has seen its day. I'd be willing to buy a slider should you make one. I very much liked the Blackberry Access concept that floated around.

Really love this phone; when I went to T-Mobile to activate it, the woman there took a picture of it because she thought it was so cool. It's lighter than I expected, but still feels sturdy, esp. with the metal frame. The keyboard is REALLY nice, and thank God it has the BlackBerry Hub! If you've never heard of the Hub, it aggregates all your mail and social media feeds into one convenient place, sorts them by account, or lets you make a custom view. So if you have work related accounts (email, Slack), you can bunch them together in a 'view'. The BB version of Android also allows you to use a dark background theme for most parts of your phone, which I love. The battery life so far has been AMAZING, with fairly regular use hardly draining it. The screen is nice and clear, and the photos are good, with different modes and filters. The one thing I miss is the old BlackBerry's ability to select a mode (don't recall the name), where it would take a little video and you could use a dial to select the moment/exposure that you wanted. Also really like the back of the phone, which while not as flashy as the glass back phones, is non skid. You can also program the LED on the front of your phone to flash a different colour for a text message, email etc. On the old BB OS you could select a specific person and assign them a colour, and then if you got anything from them, it would blink that colour - I understand there is an app in the Play store that you can use to mimic that functionality, but I haven't installed it yet. You can also use the spacebar as a fingerprint sensor to unlock your phone, and stroking your hand over the keyboard allows you to scroll (!!!) which is awesome if you like using your phone one handed. A terrific phone for a really great price! Wish more people would give BlackBerry a shot (and I wish BlackBerry made the Key2 in different colours! Not just the LTE!)

Been with BB's for 15 years and coming off a PRIV this Key2 is fantastic. Feels great, looks great and performs at a much higher level than the PRIV. Battery life is a big improvement--getting a full day and half from one charge. Reminds me of a cross between PRIV and Passport..Many very cool functions. I am very happy with the purchase. A couple of downsides: the sound is marginal at best. I don't need it that much as I mainly listen to videos of children and friends-- but BB definitely missed the mark on this.. It has a single speaker on the bottom and it is ugh... My PRIV sound was much better..This device is not fully compatible with Android Auto. It takes control of your media volume and won't give it back!!! I had to reboot every time to get my media sound back after unplugging from my auto.. It is possible this is peculiar only with Ford Sync3 system--although I did find others on Android Authority and Crackberry that had the same issue. Amazon product support was great as I called them and they connected me to Blackberry tech support to troubleshoot. After about 30 minutes the tech zeroed in on it being an app issue. It wasn't long to discover that Android auto was culprit. Removed app from phone and disabled Android Auto on the car and problem is gone..Not want I wanted with a 600.00 phone --but it was resolved and I was very pleased with both Amazon and Blackberry product support. With all that I do love the phone. It is a winner for me..

I've had three full days of battery life out this phone while using it for phone, email, texting and other apps (I don't do much social media), and to me that is pretty incredible. The camera isn't nearly as bad as it is made out to be, but in low light it does struggle a little bit. The keyboard is a breath of fresh air. Some of us really didn't want to let go of having a keyboard on our phones to begin with. Does it make you faster? Not really, but it makes you much more deliberate and some of the tricks with it are absolutely awesome. Scrolling through apps using the keyboard as a track pad? Awesome. Double-tapping it to use as a multi-directional cursor in emails? Awesome. Multiple, customizable keyboard layouts that can include special characters and emoji? Awesome. Oh and the call quality is great. I thought heavily about picking this up because I missed having a physical keyboard, and I'm glad I bought it because it suits how I use a smartphone perfectly. I think my only actual complaints involve the low light performance of the camera and that everyone once in a while I accidentally hit the capacitive buttons on the display when typing. Beyond that it is a fantastic device. We live in a day and age where most people treat their phone as a fashion statement and spend their days buried face down into whatever social media flavor of the day they choose or playing games instead of engaging in the world around them. If that is you, this phone is not for you although it can do those things. We also live in a day and age where people care more about things on paper than they do in practice. "Wait, it doesn't have the latest and greatest Snapdragon 9000 plutonium CPU, it's a piece of 80's junk!" "It's not 4K, it sucks!" If that is you, this also is not the phone for you although the CPU and RAM in this phone make it very snappy and the display isn't bad in the least.

The most important: the key shortcuts are amazing. Once you're dialed into your shortcuts, there's nothing faster. Multitasking is blazing fast. There's no lag. First: I'm not a fan of android's operating system. Yes, bb10 is dead. I still use my passport silver edition when I leave for the day and use the key 2 at home for messing around, browsing, news, weather, emails and the like. I'll eventually carry the key2 (probably a month or two away) because I truthfully love bb10. The lack of apps and support are just making it hard to hold onto. I desperately tried to configure the key 2 to resemble my passport. Sadly, not such thing, but I'll get used to it. Second: everything is awesome. It's fast, battery lasts days with heavy use, the new bb apps rock and are appreciated for us bb10 people, the phone looks great, the speaker is plenty loud enough for a phone and I Bluetooth it to my stereo or headphones it all the other times), the earbuds work great and don't cost extra. Final: I think people split hairs over screen quality, processor speed, memory and other specs. This does everything fast, clear, loud and for a long time. Plus, the keyboard takes shortcuts and navigations to a level no other phone can copy.

I'll start by saying I'm not an Android fan so that biases my opinion heavily. I really miss using my BlackBerry Passport SE and was hoping the Key2 would be a good replacement. It's OK. The Key2 keyboard is cramped and tactile feedback not the greatest. Spacebar much lighter which is a little tough to get used to. Capacitive keyboard function not as smooth as the PPSE. I've had it for a month now and still not able to use the Key2 like second nature; continue to find it a little clumsy to use. Overall performance pretty good though and battery life is nice. Camera is so-so. BB's implementation of Android better than the Samsung S7 I was using before. To sum up I've got mixed feelings about it but it's not a bad phone.

This is a replacement for my Q10 BlackBerry Passport which I had for five years. I have now had the Key2 for a few days now and find it a far better experience. Excellent key board (reminds me of the old Bold keyboard) Also like the whole Android experience. If you have been hesitant to move from your passport, I suggest buy a Key2.
