Great buy; needs larger chunks of food
I use this frequently with my two indian ringnecks. They were excited by it immediately and always get worked up when they see me take it out because they know what's coming :) I noticed right away that there is no chemical smell on the rubber that I have experienced with similar toys. The birds also like to chew on the rubber itself, but I haven't seen any damage to it. My one criticism is that you need to have things in rather large chunks, or else they will just fall out. I find that cut veggies and fruits work well if they're sized so that you can just barely stuff them through the holes. Smaller berries like blueberries, and most nuts (at least that my IRNs can handle) will fall out immediately and be wasted. However, on the flip side, for the things that DO stay in, it seems that this cuts down on the waste of produce since they eat in little bites through the egg instead of just picking up a chunk from a bowl and letting it drop. When they do wiggle a piece out, they seem to be more protective of it and don't just let it drop as easily.

Favorite toy for Yellow Nape and Double Yellow Head Amazons
One of these toys, freshly filled with peanuts, can occupy my husband's Amazons for hours, keeps them from fighting or screaming, and calms them down. His double yellow-head and a nape sharing a cage spend their time trying to forage treats out of this toy rather than trying to bite and chew on one another. I've been buying this toy for years, and it is still my favorite. They spend hours digging the peanuts out of the holes. It is true that these birds can chew through the rubber, but I've found that they don't, unless the toy is left abandoned their cage without treats inside, and there are no other interesting toys to play with. They would rather play with a toy they haven't seen for a while or forage for peanuts.I like this toy so much that I've tried all the other toys from JW Pet. NutCase is still my favorite, but I haven't had any of JW Pet's toys fall apart in a dangerous way, or sit neglected in the cage. Nothing lasts forever in a cage with Amazons, so I always replace the NutCase when the rubber starts to get limp, usually after a few months. If there could only be one bird toy in their cage, this would be it.

The rubber seems more durable than past versions
Our 2 African Greys just love pulling the peanuts out of the Nutcase. They are smart birds and over time they've gotten smarter and go after the Nutcase and tear it up over time as they work the peanuts out. These newer ones seem to be a little bit more durable. We've only had this one a week so only time will tell.

Parrot loves this toy
my parrot loves this toy and plays with it every day. He sleeps with the toy near him and I have 2 used ones that I have hung on the outside of his cage. He plays with all of them. They are very chewable, and he has chewed away some of the toy, but they last about 6 or 7 months before there is a hole in them. Easily filled with peanuts or other treats too.

Good toy or treat holder for a Conure
It is what it is. A good toy or treat holder. I have not put it in his cage yet but it is a perfect size for a Sun Conure or any Conure. I wouldn't buy it for anything larger since bigger beaks will destroy this in no time. It is soft rubber. I would say it is worth the money !

Great toy for parrots
This is a great toy for parrots. Perfect for filling with shreds of paper, pieces of wood and/or treats. As a precaution, I replaced the chain/hook with leather rope.On the side of caution, I always remove metal hooks, chains and bells. They could "potentially" contain contain traces of lead or zinc, which is deadly to parrots and needs to be replaced. Many parrots die from lead and zinc. Any avian vet will tell you about the tragic suffering and deaths of many beloved birds! Most people don't let their dogs chew metal hooks and chains, so why let your parrot?

This is far too big
Don't buy this unless you have a parrot that is ringneck-size or bigger. It's massive and really will only fit shelled peanuts into it. Definitely WAY too big for a lovebird. To salvage it instead of returning, I removed the hardware from it and gave it to my dog... I put dog kibble in it and she rolls it around until they fall out.

Um, No.
My African Grey took only 24 hours to pretty much shred this so not useful for treats - it was full of almonds etc. which ended up on the bottom of the cage. I would have thought this was for parrots, but apparently not. maybe it will work for little budgies??
