why is dvd not playing but vhs still plays?

Maybe you need to clean the DVD player. Possibly the disc itself is scratched too.

This one will not record from tv. It is play only what you need is one with a digital tuner. The one I have will not record.

AS far as I remember the answer is NO. Ours broke shortly after we got it.
