This lavish two-volume set presents the definitive story of how Marvel Studios created the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as told by the studio’s creatives, and the cast and crew of The Infinity Saga . Foreword by Kevin Feige (President of Marvel Studios and Chief Creative Officer of Marvel) * Afterword by Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man) The Story of Marvel Studios is the first-ever, fully authorized, all-access history of Marvel Studios’ creation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as told by the producers, writers, directors, concept artists, VFX artists, cast, and crew who brought it to life. Year-by-year, project-by-project, the studio’s founding and meteoric growth are described through detailed personal stories, anecdotes, and remembrances of noteworthy challenges, breakthrough milestones, and history-making successes. Together, these stories reveal how each of the films evolved into one ongoing cinematic narrative, as coauthors Tara Bennett and Paul Terry chart the complete production history of The Infinity Saga ’s 23 movies from 2008’s Iron Man all the way up to, and including, 2019’s Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home . Bennett and Terry were granted unprecedented access to Marvel Studios, which led to this years-in-the-making tome containing personal stories from more than 200 interviews, including every Marvel Studios producer; MCU writers and directors; the stars of The Infinity Saga ; concept artists, costume designers, composers, and the talents behind the MCU’s dazzling visual effects; and more. Featuring previously unpublished behind-the-scenes photography and archival production material, as well as personal photos and memorabilia from cast and crew, The Story of Marvel Studios is the essential, collectible chronicle of how the Marvel Cinematic Universe was brought to life. 512 pages chart the entire history-making story of Marvel Studios—from its inception, through Phases One, Two, and Three, and to the dawn of Phase Four Featuring more than 200 interviews with the studio’s staff, cast, and crew for all 23 movies in The Infinity Saga Includes more than 500 production photos, plus never-before-seen filmmakers’ archival materials and personal memorabilia from the cast and crew Deluxe two-volume, foil-stamped cloth hardcover set, featuring exclusive cover art by Ryan Meinerding (Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development) Metallized reinforced slipcase with exclusive wraparound MCU concept art montage, featuring art by Adi Granov, Ryan Meinerding, Andy Park, and Charlie Wen Review: Had high expectations----and they were surpassed!!!! Must have book for any MCU fan! - This is a chronological story of Marvel Studios, from way back when the first Marvel characters came to movie screens (even before Iron Man), and going in exquisite detail in the road from the first Tony Stark adventure up to their latest projects, including Disney+ releases. What is interesting of the book is that, apart from gorgeous photography (and many cool behind the scenes gems), it has a rich text that shows you how each film came to be from initial idea into their premieres and box office results, but in perfect MCU fashion, this is told as a single story where many directors, producers, VFX artists, etc are "interconnected" and create a much larger story: the one of a studio that started in small offices inside a kite factory (yes, you read right) into one of the largest movie studios of history. At the core (sorry for the DC reference), there's their own Superman-Batman-Wonder Woman trinity of heroes - Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito and Victoria Alonso. Being a lifelong Marvel fan (and also recently of the MCU) I came with very high expectations about this book and I was greatly surprised about the heart and the soul of the underlying story, the excellent pictures and behind the scenes secrets (which I won't spoil here!) and of course a very beautiful presentation. Chapters dealing in detail with Taika Waititi's process for Thor:Ragnarok or Ludwig Goransson's process for Black Panther as well as the mamooth storytelling and logistics effort for Infinity War and Endgame are real gems--- Buy this book before it's sold out and becomes a collector's item... Review: A must-have for any diehard MCU fan - This two-volume set is a comprehensive and insightful dive into the Marvel film franchise, covering each film's conception from vision to reception, ranging from 2008's Iron Man to Spider-Man: Far From Home in 2019. There are even touching mentions of earlier Marvel films like the animated productions, Blade, and Ang Lee's Hulk. Everything is covered with deep affection and disarming honesty, and the films' creators are forthcoming about why some details didn't work so well, but mostly why we consider these films to be a part of the greatest cinematic success stories in existence today. Most of all, creators and artists who are hungry for knowledge about how to deliver compelling storytelling that's informed by great design will appreciate the in-depth look at the creative process, and how to turn challenges into opportunities. It's a textbook for how to turn comic book fans into film buffs and film buffs into comic book fans. It's also a treatise on passion projects that draw us all in. It makes the case for allowing nerds to run artistic mediums that handle the material they're nerdy about. It's a magnificently assembled (excuse the term) compilation of the movies that have been keeping us coming back to the darkened auditoriums and bright screens for 10 years, even through a pandemic. In addition, it looks gorgeous on the shelf and is built to last. If you're a Marvel fan, a moviegoer, or an artist needing inspiration, this is for you. Don't miss it.

The Absolute Best MCU Resource Ever.
There isn't a single negative thing to say about this book set. It is without a doubt the most comprehensive "making of" book about the MCU that is out there. Every page and story is wonderfully written and compelling to read. They have found a way to make even the most mundane pieces of information feel like gold nuggets of valuable facts. It's a thoroughly entertaining read. I'm honestly not that much of a Marvel fan outside of watching the movies with my daughter but I've been seeing excerpts from this book being quoted in various news articles recently and it piqued my interest enough to give it a try. I'm so glad I did. I genuinely appreciate the movies so much more now. The next time I watch them, I'll remember all these little facts and stories and it'll make the experience all that much better. Be warned though, it's big; really big.

Amazing set, not at all like the "Art of" series
First, let me say this is a gorgeous product. The two volumes are fabric-bound hardcovers with a gold embossed image on the front of each (Iron Man on the first, the Infinity Gauntlet on the second). The pages are thick, high quality paper, and the color and images are beautiful. Each volume is about 250 pages, and they are quite heavy! I collect the "Art of..." Marvel hardcovers, and I worried that this book would basically be a conglomerate of all of those. That's not what this is at all. The art books focus on development and concept designs. These volumes are much more focused on production. There are many, many behind the scene photos to show you how they filmed different shots in the movies (Tony Start in the donut, Vision flying, the circle up in Avengers, to name a very few examples). There are a LOT of photos in this book, but there are also a lot of words! Snippets from different interviews with cast and crew are scattered among the pages. Ever wonder how Don Cheadle reacted when he found out Rhodey would be paralyzed? This book will tell you. Something worth noting is that this book is broken down by year rather than by film. The first volume covers the inspiration for and creation of Marvel Studios up through 2014; the second covers 2015 through 2019 with an additional chapter titled "The Future." This means that all the content from any given movie cannot be found in one place; while you read about filming Ragnarok, they will talk about casting Captain Marvel, then jump to some info on Black Panther, then bring you back to Ragnarok in the next chapter. It flows really well because this book is about movie production, not the individual movies themselves. All together, I highly recommend this book if you love the Marvel movies or are interested in how they are filmed. It's a high quality set that's perfect for collectors.

Excellent
This is the most comprehensive guide to everything pre-MCU, the filming of every single movie of the Infinity Saga, the impact of the MCU, and what's to come in the future for Marvel, not just in terms of movies. The set photos are top-notch, the concept art is so good, and the chapters are organized by year so you can jump around easily to find what you want. Worth the buy. Two minor issues I have is that the binding feels a little weak cause of how heavy the pages are, but personally, it's really not a big deal. These books are more or less meant for display most of the time anyway. Also, the front and back covers feel a bit thin, but that just might be because of the cloth-woven type feel they were going for.

A fun recollection of MCU history
This was a really fun read and a great coffee table book for your house if you are a fan of the MCU. This is official and straight from Disney/Marvel, which means you won't necessarily see much of the politics that really went down, but to get an official source to market how they grew, this is a fun retrospective on the what went behind the scenes for the last 22 movies.

Good things come to those that wait indeed!
Like most have state, I also preordered this in July 2018 & as added bonus, much cheaper. The books are beautiful and well put together. The photos and interviews truly reveal how much work and thought went into these projects as a whole. This is a welcomed addition to all 22 of my Art of the Movie books. Still holding hope for an Incredible Hulk Art of the Movie (highly doubt that). If you are on the fence about getting this get off it. It will be a collectors item.

The MCU Legacy all in two volumes and it's worth it!!
Ever since this book was announced, I had always wanted to learn the history of my all-time favorite movie franchise. Bought this a week ago and the wait was totally worth it!! This book has so much information regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it tells the story of how the series came to be, who was involved, and how it inspired them to create one of film's biggest franchises of the 21st century. From Iron Man to Captain America Winter Soldier, Avengers Age of Ultron to Spider-Man Far from Home, it's all in there. Interviews with cast and crew of the Infinity Saga as to how each individual movie was created and how it brought all the characters into one big story. Such an awesome page turner. For any fan of Marvel, or the MCU in general, this book is for you. 5/5 stars
