Love this pillow
It's a perfect size and shape for back support. I did remove some kapok, but who knows, I may end up putting it back in at some later point. It's nice to have that flexibility. Excellent pillow! Thank you for such a great product.

Wow!!!
For a very long time I couldn’t find a comfortable pillow. I sleep on a stuffed animal toy since it’s the only thing that not hurt my neck the next morning. I have tried curved pillows, down and shredded memory foam and lavender filled pillows, buckwheat…until I bought this one.I couldn’t believe I didn’t try it sooner! It’s the most comfortable pillow I have ever had. Thankfully it has small size so I can travel with it-I can’t live without it already.

Beware if you have hay fever/ tree pollen allergies!!!
The quality of the pillow is fantastic. I thought to use it on the plane as a travel pillow and to also do double duty as a lightweight pillow to sleep on. It came very stuffed with the most delightfully soft and silky kapok “cotton” and easy to remove excess kapok for one’s neck needs. It was a bit lumpy and high for my very sensitive neck even after removing half of the stuffing (gave me a neck ache / vertebrae grinding headache) so I tossed the idea of using it as a head pillow and instead a firm-ish lumbar support on the sofa. After having used the pillow my face and eyes started burning and my nose started to run. It was too much for my environmental allergies even though I had sealed it in a dust mite proof cover.I really didn’t want to expose myself to another allergic reaction so I put on a dust mask and gloves and disposed of the pillow and excess kapok.I really had high hopes and am trying another Beanpillow (millet) and am also considering buckwheat to replace my current ancient buckwheat pillow.

Can get misshapen, but still nice overall
I love that these pillows are all natural fibers and plastic-free. The material is very nice and supportive, but I have noticed that over the course of a night the front part will flatten out and the material will move to the back. I usually flip it over and fluff it up every couple of nights. It is not too soft and not too firm, but just doesn't hold a shape super well. I haven't tried removing some of the material, but I think that might help.

excellent quality
Kapok is unusually resilient. It does not pack down or lump up like most other materials. You only need to fluff it up and it will be like new again. I first experienced kapok as a material used inside zafu (Zen) meditation cushions. It really is the best material for this use, in my opinion. For use as a pillow, some may not like it. It feels different than cotton or feathers or foam pillows. After a few days of use I became accustomed to it, and now would no use anything else. This pillow came stuffed with lots of kapok, and would be almost firm enough to use for meditation. It would have been great for a pillow to prop myself up for reading in bed; but it was too firm to place under my head. I removed about 1/4 of the kapok, and the loft and softness is now perfect. The quality of the workmanship is outstanding.Kapok is a plant-based fiber, obtained from trees in Asia. When new it has a slight vegetal or grassy smell. I like the smell, but it goes away after a week or two of exposure.

Filling removal failed
The purpose and reason I've purchased this pillow is that I could customize it by removing the filling as advertised. As I was looking for a low pillow I thought this would be the perfect solution. I removed the filling and started using it, but I noticed that it was actually moving all over and didnt stay firm. What happens is, when you remove them, there will be a lot of space for the filling to move and you end up having to reshape it all the time even when you are sleeping. That's how the pillow is after reshaping and after 30 minutes of sleep. Now after trying so many times to make it working by putting filling back, removing again, reshaping differently, I cant return anymore, and when I asked vendor if I can return, and explained the issue, they wrote me back saying: "We don't recommend removing the filling" WHAT? Isn't it the whole purpose of this customizable pillow?

Beware: These are very small and firm
Very small and firm pillows. My wife bought and we were very surprised. If you're into that, these are for you.

this pillow is amazing! I grappled back and forth about a chemical
Oh heavens: this pillow is amazing! I grappled back and forth about a chemical, cruelty, and allergy free pillow for months. I became the victim of too much info in the media, finding out that so many bedding products, including pillows, sheets, and mattress pads - not just mattresses - are chemical laden. You can't change the world, but you sleep 8 hours a night, and you BREATHE in all that junk....no thank you. So the options of buckwheat, water, and kapok pillows became a new world of considerations for me, none of which were available for me to try out "in person" at a store.I read that buckwheat could be "loud" and have a "bean bag" feel to it, and could be hard/uncomfortable. I knew that wasn't for me. I'd slept on down for years (which not only was ethically not acceptable to me anymore, but had me waking up with a runny nose and sneezing each night), so the texture of a water pillow wasn't appealing for me either. Then, I happened upon this pillow. Organic in and out, and versatile since you can add too or take out as much kapok as you want to your liking. I figured it was a reasonable gamble for 50 bucks.I was dubious since the pillow felt awfully firm out of the box. But then I slept on it...it's amazing how much kapok "gives" and yet bounces right back! I found it to be odorless right out of the gate. And no more allergies!I was a lucky gal to have bought the last one Bean Products had in stock for the time. Bean: please stock more!! My husband wants one just like this too....and he is PICKY!! :)

It's so comfy
It's an amazing pillow. I've heard of the benefits of kapok being dense and anti-fungal etc, and I was tired of those cheap polyester pillows that squish into pockets of nothing and throw my entire neck alignment out of whack... Not with this thing. It's a tank of a pillow. it'll just keep getting denser as time goes by and you can wash the heck out of it without worrying about it squishing together. If you're a fan of dense pillows that stay the same for like, a long long time, this is the one for you. The great bonus is that it's all natural and there are no polyester/plastic micro-bits that sheer off when washing and end up polluting the oceans (a huge problem). I think with this one pillow at this pricepoint it outlasts all the crap pillows I'd have to buy if I did not have this beast. I love it.I did put it in the wash before using it and didn't notice a huge smell as other reviews suggest, but there was the oh so slight wet dog smell for the first month or so that I found quite comforting but, alas, has now went away and is now just pillow.

The best pillow!
Love love love this pillow! I got one for my toddler and now want to get one for everyone in the family. Its the only truly organic option out there (inside and out, not just the cover like other brands) and its so soft and comfy. Zero smells out of the bag and the ability to adjust the filling to your comfort level is incredible. I can’t believe I’ve never had a pillow like that before. They are not joking when they say they ship it overfilled, I removed enough kapok to fill a second pillow, and that’s incredible! I have the extra filling stored in a ziplock bag and will use if/when needed.Highly recommend it.

Love this pillow
After doing research online to find a natural pillow, I came across this one. This pillow makes me excited to go to bed every night. It is so comfortable. There is zero smell as previous reviewers mentioned. The ability to adjust the stuffing would come in handy but as a side/back sleeper it is pretty much perfect. It is pricey for a pillow, but totally worth it so far.
