I purchased mine for a slide in truck camper. I wanted it to protect the lead acid batteries in the pick up truck as the camper battery has Lipo4. Also was expecting it to charge the camper batteries during nighttime drives when the solar panels on the camper don’t work. It starts to work then after a while it will quit and it just says MPPT only meaning the solar panels are providing power to the charge to the camper, however it’s nighttime there’s no solar power. I contacted customer support for Renogy I’ve had two different technicians one of them told me it has to have manual switches installed for the solar panels and the DC DC charger you have to turn one off while the other one is on and vice a versa I explain to them that it should be fully automatic I also have a Renogy charge controller, normally when you buy from the same brand, they communicate very well like Apple communicates with Mac. However this is not the case with the Renogy after talking to the technicians one of the technicians admitted they know there is a problem with the device however they do not want to return my money as I was four days past the return date apparently there is no warranty at all not even for two months when it’s past the return date it’s done. So it is what it comes down to is essentially they’re selling a product they know is not working correctly in certain circumstances with certain set ups they don’t know how to fix it and they don’t want to return the money you’re stuck with the item that does not work I tried turning off the solar panels and just run in the alternator on the pick up truck and it still says the same thing. I talked to a second service technician at Renogy. She was from the Philippines hard to understand. She says I have to enter user parameters, according to the directions of the battery which I did to Noeville it just simply does not work as others have posted on here it’s junk. I will never buy another Renogy product. I explained to customer service while on the phone. I’m going to write this review. They didn’t seem to care. I told them that it was wrong that you need to install manual switches that it should be fully automatic. They’re selling a product for an RV and they expect you to stop and manually turn it on or manually turn it off while you’re going down the road it’s just unbelievable that they don’t communicate with their own product. Perhaps my situation is different than others with a slide in camper and solar panels. The idea is to use the solar panels during the day to charge the camper batteries so that when the refrigerator is running on DC, it doesn’t kill the batteries. At night when the solar panel panels are not working the alternator on the pickup truck would keep the batteries charged while the refrigerator is running on DC apparently this is too much to expect. I highly suggest you don’t buy these products.
