This is the best brace I’ve bought over the last 15 years. The “spoon”, though more effectively shaped, is easily bent to match my hands. The spoon reaches from below the pad, on the back of the thumb, to the wrist, below the joint. It can be shaped around the thumb and the wrist. It can be fitted tightly around both. The Velcro wraps, and the entire back of the brace allows the loops to adhere to the material, though the material is much more smooth and comfortable than standard Velcro hooks. That makes it very adjustable for tightness. It’s large enough (M-L) to wrap my wrists below the brace. The only negative comment I have is that it rubs against the skin where I get “bandage burns”. This, however, is true for any brace or hand wraps I’ve ever bought. I tape gauze pads around my thumb and hand before I put either a wrap, then the brace, or put the brace over the gauze, then wrap over that. I would rate this brace’s effectiveness a 5+, ease of purchase and speed of delivery a 5, comfort a 5+, and flexibility and fit, 5++, and finally, I rate the effectiveness of using it on both hands a 5+.

Im a licensed OT. This is probably one of the best braces you could get for DeQuervains. The most important thing for recovery is wear-time. This brace is light-weight so you could wear it casually for almost everything except writing and washing. The trick is remembering to put it on afterwards.With respect to the people complaining that the brace rips, they may be correct. However, you have to be careful about adjusting to fit your thumb so that approximately half of it is sticking out (see picture). This reduces the strain on the brace. If the aluminum bends a little bit, that's actually a good thing because it's adjusting to your natural use angle. Highly recommend--all the other ones seems flimsy or bulky, although i'll be honest--i haven't tried them.

I dislocated my thumb, and this provided the perfect support. The design is flexible and easy to take on and off either by slipping it on or opening it up to put over the injury. However, my wrist now has some severe irritation from the textured liner. It's woven with a texture that genuinely upset my skin by constantly rubbing. I work in in the medical industry and got an undersleeve for it from work, but my wrist was still irritated a day later.Still, the overall design is solid, it just needs to either be sold with an undersleeve or get some sort of soft lining.

I purchased 4 of these in 2022 and recently purchased 2 more due to reinjurying myself. I really like them becuase they support my thumb really well. Yet, the light grey material that covers the thumb is not durable so the metal continues to tear through it around the thumb area. All six of these braces have had the same issue. I am going to experiment with a few other brands to see if they last longer. Other note: Recommend ORTONYX change the material of the main brace becuase it doesn't breath so over time it gets pretty smelly.

I have been using this brace for less than one week. It does a great job immobilizing my thumb however the fabric that the Velcro adheres to has already pulled away exposing the metal splint. The quality of this product is extremely inferior.

I'm a very petite woman and was unable to use this product. it just wiggles around and gives zero support because of how small my hands are. If you're above 5ft you're probably fine, by my 4ft 10 hand slipped right through

Five days after surgery on thumb this replaced bandages and protects the thumb much more lightweight. I got the medium size perfect fit.

This is great if you want to immobilize your thumb bone or your LOWER thumb joint, but it's not so good if you want to immobilize the smaller, upper joint. Or maybe it's just me because my thumb is longer than most people. For me, the uppermost Velcro strap wraps around my upper thumb joint. Ideally I would have liked it to wrap around my thumb nail to help immobilize my upper joint (that's where my dog-beast yanked it and hyper-extended the tendons).It's lightweight, very well-made, easy to put on and off, and very comfortable. I was wearing it over 10 hours per day.

Well made hard on thumb needs work to git Well and comfortable

This is a very good splint and I am pleased with it. But....it's a bit rough on inside of thumb so wear a plaster. Because of that it lost a star.

Support inadequate and size not as advertised
