I can't really speak to anything about this except that the flap isn't big enough to fit large cats. My cat is 20 lbs, solid muscle, and he's too tall and maybe too wide to fit through, so we had to return it. The opening is about 8" tall by 5" wide. This one doesn't seem to have an option for a larger flap opening, and others on Amazon with a larger opening are expensive, so I went online to a different site and found a different brand for under $200 with an opening big enough for medium dogs (and giant cats), and I got to choose which side the opening would be on too.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  The installation was super easy, mine didn't include insulation (no big, you can grab that from the store if you need), but for the price of this you can't beat it. Literally, right out of the box and pop it into the window and your ready to go. Although make sure you measure because it adjusts, but only a few inches which cut it pretty close to not fitting in mine.

Just received this. Seems solid and sturdy, but no directions or information included. Can’t get the plastic cover off the door. If it’s this hard for me to remove, I know my wife will not be able to take it on and off, so we have no way of blocking the door when we want cats to stay in. Also, outside of box says to fit the unit into place then apply weather stripping. Of course there is no weather stripping in the box. If I wanted to get in the car to go get weather stripping, I wouldn’t have ordered online to start with. Disappointed.

Would give five stars if plastic pet door cover was not near impossible to take off without a wedging tool to help. Placed a rag over the metal side and used a claw hammer. Very easy with that but why on earth have it designed to where it requires this!?! A slide down insert would make this the best pet door for a window. Would suggest one inserts a strip of foam around edges and some sort of locking device. Even a piece of wood wedged in between the top of the window and the raised panel. Otherwise a great product.

I've been looking for a pet door for my cat for a while now. I knew I wanted it to fit into my pre-existing window, so a sash style was my only option. I was struggling with trying to get something cost effective, but also superb quality. This sash fit that bill perfectly. The flap seems like it could be a bit sturdier, but the build quality of the physical window portion is awesome.You have to love prime. The odd shaped big box came in two days. Although I was skeptical, the description was right. Quick install and no tools required! Fits like a glove. Thanks for making a great product at a reasonable price.

when finally got correct size/product it was fine. Took intervention with vendor to fix issue, all Amazon does is arrange to return unhappy problems. Customer service was very helpful and accomodating when I got ahold of them.Product should be reversible, left or right position in window mount; this is a simple fix, but if it's going on one side only, make it flexible....and think about it....it's going in a window....why isn't there a "landing" on each side available as an option/add on? Cat's don't like to perch on ledges, paricularly when their favorite open window is now a confusing "door-up-in-the-air".Design could be better, but it's extremely well made. Plan on DIY for fixing it in the window and sealing...there really isn't anything to satisfy either need in the kit. Foam rubber surround would be nice.....it's ridiculous that the vastly different sizes ALL cost the same price. Poor value for money in this regard, despite good quality. Why should the smallest cost as much as the biggest available???? This is exploitive.

I was looking for something that could be easily inserted and removed for when we go away for weekends. This is a good quality item, but it’s quite heavy, and really meant for a more permanent installation. I’m returning it only for that reason that I don’t want to keep this permanently in the window.

I took 5 minutes to stick this into the window, and didn't bother trying to use the weather stripping I bought to seal it. We live in a very safe neighborhood, so not concerned about security, and very little air seeps in around the edges. It gets mildly cold here in winter (20's at night-40's day) and I didn't feel cold air coming near this cat door. The cats love it. Inside, I put a little table against the low window with a rubberized mat on it, and also cut a strip of the rubberized mat to protect the finished wood windowsill. I used Command stickers to hold them in place. Outside the window on the porch, I put a small outdoor end table with a little bathroom rug on it, so the kitties would have a platform with grip and comfort on the glass table. A great solution as an alternative to cutting holes in your doors!
