Great improvements!
Love!! we had the Hatch Rest for a few years. This new Hatch model it has wonderful improvements! It is much cuter as well. I love the simplicity of the knob on the top – you can hold it down to turn it off or turn it for volume control. The locking feature so my daughter can’t mess with it is very handy. Still has the beautiful color options like our previous Hatch. The overall aesthetic looks great in my four year-old daughter’s room. I would highly recommend this to anyone with young or older kids because being able to set the color for different times of night or day allow my daughter to know when she is allowed to get out of bed in the morning. I’ve also considered using it in my room because it is handy as an alarm clock, and like I’ve said numerous times is aesthetically pleasing.

Excellent for sleep at any age, easy to use, Looks great!
I was given the Hatch Rest 2nd Gen for my first baby, and thought it might be a little bit overkill. However, we have only used it more and more as our child has grown. Now for number two, I decided to upgrade to the Hatch Baby. They've made some great upgrades over the years: -night light function: you just press a button on the side and a gentle light comes on so you can nurse/change a diaper/whatever you need to do without turning on the overhead light or needing a separate lamp. You also don't need to have your phone to control this. When you're up in the middle of the night and exhausted, its super simple and super handy to have this function. (see video for functionality) -the button on top is now the control instead of a touch ring to start/stop your programmed lights. I actually like the button a bit more because you can control the on/off and the volume with it very easily (see video). As your child grows they will be able to easily operate it (more on that below). There is another button on the bottom that controls brightness. -There is now an AI sleep guide and pointers about sleep. I'm a bit of a stickler about the kid getting plenty of sleep (because that means I get plenty of sleep), and I think this product really helps you from birth to set some good groundwork for healthy sleep habits. The Hatch Baby app is easy to use, easy to make different programs for your baby (for example white light/noise for a certain number of minutes after you put them to sleep). We used temporary white noise when our first was younger, but now we use the Hatch as a night light (growing minds/imaginations seem to have more fear of the dark), and we are also using the ability to program in a 'wake-up' light to teach our child when it is time to get up (otherwise they know they can keep sleeping). Also, the versatility with colors of light (there are over 20 options) and different types of sound (from white/pink noise to rain, fan, etc) has made it so there is something to fit all of our needs (for example we started with a gentle white light, but as our child decided purple was the best color ever and was having some fear of the dark, we changed the light to purple and she instantly (no joke) went back to sleeping through the night). You can control multiple hatch products via the app very easily. To me, the look doesn't matter as much as the functionality, but I do like how sleek the product is-looks nice in any space without needing to be the focal point. Overall, I'd say I was a bit of a skeptic, but now couldn't imagine bedtime/middle-of-the-night time, etc without this product--to the point that I bought it again!

Amazing investment!!!
This is an amazing product! Im still getting everything set up but im so impressed. The lights and sounds are completely customizable and can be controlled on the app! The app is also super helpful. Theres an AI chatbot to answer questions on sleep and development as well as stories and different comforting sounds. The night light button is very easy to press, perfect for my baby to use as they grow up. Shipping was super fast too! I received it in 2 days. I found another app called hatch grow that goes over development but i havent used that one yet. Overall i think this is a great investment for the price. Ill be recommending this to all my mom friends. Oh and it comes with 6 months of premium access completely free!!!!

Excellent Product — No need for any other night light, clock, or sound machine!
We love the Hatch Baby Sound Machine. Previously, we were trying to use a combination of two different night lights, a sound machine, and a clock all together. With the Hatch Baby, we can condense those 4 different products down into one. This gives us back a ton of space on our changing table and greatly simplifies those middle of the night wake-ups and changes. The ability to favorite multiple settings and then toggle through them with a tap is super useful. We have configured 3 favorites (low light only, low light + white noise, white noise only) and that combination suits our needs perfectly. Setting up the device was incredibly easy and you get the basic setup pretty much out of the box. One thing I'm really excited about is the ability to change and evolve the settings as our baby grows using the built in Library of recommendations for "Baby", "Toddler", and "Kid". So its an awesome physical product, and then on top of that there are helpful sleep guides in the app with the added ability to connect with a Sleep Consultant. I haven't tried that out yet but given how good the rest of the product is, I'm confident that's great too.

Third time buying and still amazing
This is my third Hatch, which already says a lot. We have one at home, one at my parents’ place for sleepovers, and I just bought this one for our newest baby’s room. We started using it when our first was a newborn, and it quickly became part of our daily rhythm. The sound quality is excellent (not tinny or harsh like some others), and the range of white noise and ambient sounds actually makes a difference in helping our baby settle and stay asleep. It creates a really consistent sleep environment, which I’ve found is key. The light feature is just as useful. It’s soft, customizable, and perfect for middle of the night feeds or diaper changes without fully waking the baby (or yourself). I especially love being able to adjust both brightness and color. I'm absolutely convinced that the consistent use of the light/sound combos helped sleep train our first baby and will no doubt help in the process of sleep training our next. Would highly recommend.

Our Must-Have for Sleep: From First Night Home to Toddlerhood
We’ve been Hatch advocates since the very beginning. When our baby girl was first born, the Hatch quickly became one of our most-used baby items. She started sleeping through the night at just 4 months, and I honestly believe it was because of the routine we created around it. Every night we had the Hatch set to a dim light and white noise. When she woke up, that soft glow was the perfect night light. It was bright enough for diaper changes but never harsh. We didn’t have to flip on the bedroom light, which kept the room calm and cozy and helped her stay in her sleep cycle. Fast forward to now, our little one is 14 months, and during a recent move we misplaced our original Hatch. I was so excited to see the new Hatch Baby and get it set up in her room. It’s been a total game changer. The features go beyond just white noise and a night light. The nursery stories and lullabies are such a sweet part of her bedtime wind down now, and I love being able to control everything from the app without going back into her room. The routine builder has made bedtime smoother, and I’m already looking forward to introducing the time-to-rise feature as she gets a little older. Not to mention, I absolutely love the physical buttons included on the Hatch Baby. In terms of user experience it makes it even easier for you to use. The button at the top make it easier to turn on and off and the the way it rotates to adjust sound is also much easier. This was a HUGE plus for my mom who is taking care of our little one during the day and is not as technically advanced. This manual option makes it easy for her. And now, with baby number 2 arriving in just a few months, I’m even more grateful we have this. What I’m most excited about is that Hatch Baby includes access to a sleep consultant for six months. With our first, we figured things out through trial and error, but every baby is different. Knowing I don’t have to relearn sleep schedules on my own this time takes such a weight off. After the initial 6 months, you can choose to renew if you want, but it doesn’t auto-renew, which I really appreciate. Overall, the Hatch Baby has been out nightly routine savior and now is giving us even more tools as our little girl grows into toddlerhood. With another baby on the way, it feels like an essential part of our family’s routine. It’s more than just a sound machine, it’s a complete sleep support system, and I can’t recommend it enough.

*** UPDATED 12/18/2018*** A few quibbles but overall a fantastic night light.
*** SEE END OF REVIEW FOR UPDATE *** We needed a night light for our 3-month-old's nursery and this has fit the bill beautifully. To be clear, this machine works via Bluetooth, NOT via WiFi. This has advantages and disadvantages which I'll mention below. Overall, though, there's a lot to love about this machine and only a few small quibbles I have with it. What's great about this machine: 1) It looks stylish -- modern yet neutral. And because the light can be just about any color, it can fit in with whatever color scheme your room is. 2) It's easy to use. The downloadable phone app works for both Android and IOS and is very self-explanatory. Programs can be set to start and finish at any time each day (or set days of the week) and include settings for light color and brightness as well as your choice of sound (or silence) and the volume of the sound. 3) The sound machine function produces a wide range of soothing background sounds: "woodsy" noise (crickets), rain shower, white noise (like television static), singing birds, ocean waves, rippling water, a laundry machine, and three different sets of melodies. These sounds are surprisingly not nearly as annoying as I assumed they would be -- most of them are actually quite nice. 4) The "Okay to get up" feature will be great when our little one becomes a toddler. Basically, just set a program for a particular color to turn on at a certain time in the morning so your toddler knows it's "okay" to get out of bed for the day. I have no doubt this will come in handy! A few things I'm not as wild about: 1) The volume of some of the sounds could stand to have a wider range, particularly on the lower end. For example, the white noise sound is quite loud, even on the lowest volume setting. We have it dialed all the way down and it's passable but still almost too loud. 2) The ability to program sounds and lights is a great feature, but it would be nice to be able to start a program on demand instead of only at a pre-set time. For example, we have our "overnight" program set to begin at 9 p.m. and end at 6:30 a.m., but sometimes our little one goes to bed a few minutes before or after 9:00. It would be nice to be able to start the overnight program with the push of a button at, say, 9:08 and have it still end at 6:30 a.m. 3) As I mentioned above, this machine is controllable via a phone app via Bluetooth, not WiFi. On the plus side, this means you don't have to plug anything into your router, and the connection is very easy to make. On the minus side, only one phone can control it at a given time. My wife and I both have the app on our phones, and if we are both close to the machine one of us might have to close the app for the other to use it. Also, because Bluetooth has a relatively short range, you may not be able to control this machine from more than a room or two away. Then again, this is a night light, not a baby monitor, so the "need" to connect to it from the other end of the house is not as great. I'm very happy with this purchase and would certainly purchase it again! *** UPDATE 12/18/2018 *** We have been using this light for almost a year and a half, and we like it so much we purchased a second one to use for our son who was born a month ago. Although he isn't sleeping in his own room yet, we have the Hatch set up in our bedroom so he has a night light. So, this is the first time we have used the phone app to control more than one device. You can pair more than one device with your phone, but unfortunately switching between the devices in the app is a little cumbersome because you essentially have to "log out" of one device and "log on" to the other. It's not difficult, but it seems like a lot of steps. As I mentioned in my main review, I suspect this is because the pairing is via Bluetooth, not WiFi, which limits the complexity of the communication. And as a reminder, only one person can be "logged in" to a device at a time, so if my wife wants to change the volume or the sound and I was the last person to make a change, she can't do anything until I log out on my phone. Fortunately this light will probably be used on a set schedule most of the time, so accessing it via the phone app is probably not something you will do very often once your have a set routine.

Reliable sound machine for baby
We got the Hatch Baby Sound Machine about 3 weeks ago, and it has already become part of our daily routine, which says a lot because I usually feel strongly about baby gadgets. The white noise sounds smooth and calming (not harsh or mechanical), and it really helps signal sleep time for our baby. We use it for naps and bedtime, and I love that I can adjust the volume or switch sounds without going into the room and risking waking him up. What I appreciate most is how practical it is in real life. The app control is simple, and setting routines has been easy even though we’ve only had it for a short time. In just a few weeks, it’s already made sleep feel more consistent for us, and that alone makes it worth it. Definitely one of the better baby purchases we’ve made recently.

Very happy with my purchase
Super happy I went ahead and bought this. I love all the customization options on the Hatch app. There’s so many options for white noise, pink noise, etc lullabies, music, stories and lighting. It’s pricey but I think it’s well worth it!

Excellent
Great sound machine. It’s very powerful and can actually go pretty loud. The lights in it are bright, but can be dimmed or even turned off completely. I like the two on top feature to switch sounds and colours, as well as to turn off. What’s also nice is when you tap it off and then on again later, it comes back on the last setting used. Easy for every night usage. I only wish the buttons weren’t in the bottom and were easier to get to change settings each time.: like maybe on the sides so you don’t have to lift it up and struggle to see in the dark.

Would buy this again!!!
Absolutley LOVE this product!!! It has so many great features packed into one aesthetically pleasing little light! I like clean/modern looking baby products and that is what initially caught my eye. Although, the price is what made me hold off on buying at first. Once I took into consideration that not only is it a sound machine with all sorts of different options to choose from, as well as a nightlight with many colors to choose from, but it can also work as a wake up/night time light for your child eliminating the need to later on purchase a Gro Clock or something similar. It has controls on the bottom keeping the light neat looking. The app is super simple to use and I love that you can control every feature from your phone. It also has a touch feature on the top that turns the power on which is great if you have a baby in your arms!

Helps baby sleep!
Drowns out some usual noise like doors opening/shutting or low level alarms for parents to get up to go to work. It’s actually helped my little associate sleep times and helps with the afternoon nap time. We actually bought a second one because she naps in her own room during the day, in a crib but sleeps in our room in a bedside basinet during the night.. and we figured once she’s fully in her room we’ll keep the one in our room going for us. We noticed we slept better ourselves with this going. Love the timer- have it set up so it’s on at her bedtime and off in the morning on its own. The one in her room I can just tap the top ring when I put her down for a nap and it remembers my last choice and will cycle through previous settings if I tap again. Love this product, we bring it with us if baby sleeps at grandparents house.
