BEWARE: ADDICTIVE !
I have a soon to be 19yr old cat, who was going down hill rapidly 2 1/2 months ago. He has been on the famous brands prescription renal diets (canned and dry) for the past 5 years although he was in very very early stages of renal failure...maybe stage 1. He was on the food because I had 4 of his siblings and all had varying degrees if renal failure. The other 3 have passed in the last 2 years....from cancers, not renal failure, so I'm left with one. Although renal food may cause a loss of muscle mass which is sad to see, it did control or stall the renal failure. My boy has several medical problems so when he started failing, getting him to eat became impossible causing him to lose even more weight ...to skin and bones. He was only in Stage II of renal failure due to the strict diet. It really upset me seeing him lose weight almost daily. I would pet him and only feel bones. On my last vet visit, in addition to adding another medicine, the vet said give him anything he wanted to eat in order to keep the liver working and get him to gain weight. He was really on the edge of giving up and he was so weak. I decided to try Weruva Phosphate controlled food. OMG....the cat hasn't stopped eating this after the 1st taste!! He devours this food. It seems to be a very clean protein quality food. It's not cheap, but neither are the ingredients, but neither was the prescription food which had less quality ingredients in my opinion. In the past 2 months, he has filled-out and now I do not feel a boney old cat, but an elderly cat with nice coat and appropriate weight. He was 10.2 lbs earlier in the year, then a few months ago went down to 7.9lbs. He is now 9.2lbs. That's a lot. This food says it is only a supplemental feeding, not for all the time, because it is very low phosphate and doesn't meet the FDA cat food requirements. So I have ordered the regular Weruva also, the lowest protein I can find, and add a phosphate binding powder to the food (important for renal failure treatment). Hopefully his next blood test and renal values in 3 months, will look okay after giving him this food for several months. By then he will be 19 yrs old. All I know is that this food saved him at the time, and gave him something delicious to eat again. He demands this food now....and for now, I'm happy to give him the calories he loves, although I may have an impossible time if I have to go back to a straight prescription renal diet.

Kidney food
Great food for cats who have compromised kidneys.

Great idea for CKD cats
Great idea for cats with CKD but my cat didn’t like it at all. He’s very spoiled I guess, used to his old food, but has to switch since his diagnosis of kidney disease. Texture is grate must not taste very good though, I really didn’t like the smell so maybe he didn’t either. I liked the small cans, easy to open and just the right portion. Price is right one reason I bought it. Maybe other cats will like it, has so many different types of flavors to choose from.

Made my cat sick
Made my cat sick more than once with more than one flavor. Not returnable so wasted my money. I just have to throw it away. It isn’t just because it is new to him. Other new things have never caused this.

Good for digestive issues, and low phosphorus. Please see additional note.
Seems to be a good, mild food for my older cat with digestive issues, not to mention that it is low in phosphorus. Now ... I need to ask if anybody else is having any recent issues with Amazon Prime deliveries? They run late and/or do not deliver on the days promised when ordering, the tracking information (if available) is often inaccurate, and I'm currently dealing with some orders that I've been charged for, but that show as "delayed, not yet shipped". Their system will not allow me to cancel these open orders, which would be nice, since I had to purchase these goods locally instead, and the Customer Service agents on "Chat" do not seem to comprehend much. What gives? Amazon, you set the bar in this Marketplace. PLEASE do not turn in to a giant letdown. You need to be consistent and reliable.

Great for my cat with kidney disease!
I’ve been feeding this to my cat for the past few months since she was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, and she really likes it - it’s a good way to ensure she’s getting a food with lower phos since she doesn’t like the canned k/d cat foods at all, and wet food is best. She thankfully will eat dry k/d food, but this wet food is a good way to sneak in more hydration, and I like to mix supplements in. Her labs have been good lately too despite this food not being a special kidney diet for cats.

My cat tolerated it but did she like it?
My cat has kidney issues and need low phosphorus food. She did like this but wasn't enthusiastic about it. She did keep it down and it didn't cause any digestive issues. One of the chicken flavors seemed very gelatin like texture that seemed unpleasant to me but she ate it and had no adverse reactions. Higher priced than like other low phosphorus foods.

Worth a Try
Weruva Weruva Wx Phos Focused Pate Formulas is the only wet kidney food my cat will consistently eat. He is still somewhat picky about it, but compared to every other renal or CKD focused wet food I have tried, this one is by far the most successful. Getting a cat with kidney disease to eat can be a constant struggle, so finding something he will actually touch has been a huge relief. The texture seems more appealing than many prescription kidney foods, which often end up dry, strange smelling, or completely ignored. This formula has made it much easier to keep him eating wet food while staying mindful of phosphorus levels. If a cat has Chronic Kidney Disease and refuses most kidney diets, this food is definitely worth trying. It may not turn every picky cat into an enthusiastic eater, but for cats that reject nearly everything else, it can make a real difference.
