Took a long time.
I planted this in March of 2020 and by mid-summer figured none of the seeds sprouted, or if they did, the seedlings never made it. By late fall I noticed some green growth. Soon afterward the first few flowers. It continued to bloom throughout Winter. (I live in mild Southern California coastal region). By March, every planter I had planted seeds had a beautiful display.

No germination at all
I got no germination from these seeds. I have a garden with a few dozen tomatoes and peppers, lettuce, and so on, all of which I grew from seed, so I'm not without a green thumb. Amazon refused a refund as the window had passed by the time I realized I was never getting lobelia blue carpet to pop up. I also had issues with this company's 'magic carpet creeping thyme' seeds in which only weeds grew, and others have reported the same in highly rated 1-star reviews. Please check that review out, and do not buy from these people.

They came in a tiny wax paper envelop that made them very easy to "pepper" onto the soil
So many tiny seeds!Lobelia NEED light to germinate, but you also have to keep them moist. I have mine covered with a plastic tray, and the seeds themselves I just lightly sowed on top of the soil. They came in a tiny wax paper envelop that made them very easy to "pepper" onto the soil. Will come back in a few weeks to let you know if they've germinated!EDIT: Back about a month or so later, and these seeds have an insane germination rate, let me tell you. I'd say the germination is 100%, which is rare for such tiny seeds. If you plant these, do so sparingly- I had to thin out a LOT. The "pots" (they're jiffy pea pots) that are completely full are where I did no thinning at all. I'll take a picture of the flowers when they've bloomed!Overall so far, completely recommend. Great germination, and enough seeds to last you several seasons depending on your needs.EDIT: May 31, 2018: These have bloomed beautifully! They've just started to trail downwards and the variation of colors is very nice. My only complaint is that I got a lot of blue in this batch, when I really wanted more purple. Next time I'll definitely grow these individually and wait to see what color the flowers are before planting into baskets and containers. That said, you can easily grow hundreds of dollars worth of Lobelia with ease, and lobelia baskets themselves are very expensive. So if you don't mind a little work and patience, this is a great buy! I mean, c'mon! 50 dollars for a basket or a couple bucks and some time?Tips for growing:- Use either seed starter soil or pea pots. Seed sparingly, as the germination rate is quite good.-After they start sprouting, remove/thin out the weakest looking ones. I should've thinned way more than I had! You'll get much better growth this way.-Keep the seeds covered with either a plastic tray lid or clingwrap. This helps keep them hydrated. If they're too dry they won't spout or grow.-Do not feed until they are at least five inches tall. I use compost tea on mine, and I'd recommend the same.- Give them full sun. They need a lot of sun to bloom in bounds. They are somewhat drought tolerant but their flowers look much better if you never let them dry too much.

High Germination Rate
These seeds are VERY tiny.I sowed the seeds at the recommended depth observing standard seed sowing practices ie., light, moistened seed starting mix, warming mat, bottom watered. They began to germinate in 3 days and had a very high rate of germination. They're growing on nicely. It is too early for transplanting, but I will try to provide an update as time grows by. See what I did there?Update: These have begun to blossom and the blooms are purple and white, not Rose. I've downgraded my rating as a result.

Beautiful!
I got starts & beautiful flowers! I started them indoors, on my window sill. I used 20+ seeds just in case. I did not need to cover the pot to make a greenhouse environment. Once I transferred the starts to a larger pot outside, they really took off. I tried starting some in a pot outside, but they got overly wet due to rain. I haven’t seen starts for my second try yet. I’d rather have them in my window sill anyway to watch them grow :). Thank you!

too expensive, didn't receive correct amount
We have grown Lobelia for many years. This year we decided to try buying the riviera mix and blue carpet through amazon. Each order was supposed to be 5000 seeds. We plant lobelia by weight, and the riviera mix was 1.9 mg while the blue carpet was 3.7 mg. There is no way that we received 5000 seeds of the riviera mix with that weight discrepency. Not only that, this really is a terrible price for the small amount you get. We usually buy lobelia by weight and so we were hoping that 5000 seeds was a generous amount of seeds especially based on the price we were paying. Now we know that 5000 seeds really is a very tiny amount. You can go to your local nursery and buy lobelia seed by weight for a much cheaper price. Not only that, for this price you may as well buy the plant and not waste your time growing the seed. I would really recommend looking for another source to buy your seed.We just planted the seeds today, I'm confidant they will germinate. We have bought a lot of other seeds from outside pride and have been really happy. This is the first complaint we have.

They are tiny, tiny seeds.
But they are already sprouting. I'd buy them again.
