They are also really light so if your crabbing during high or low tide it just goes so make sure you have a good amount of line
Bought four of these and yes they are on the small side. One or both doors don't open 100% of the time so constantly bringing them up to adjust. They are also really light so if your crabbing during high or low tide it just goes so make sure you have a good amount of line. Made a few modifications to correct this like attaching to 8 inch bolts to the bottom with zip ties. Now they sink right to the bottom. Still messing with the doors but if you crab in shallower water you can see when they open and adjust but that is a pain. Going to give weighting the doors a try and the line needs to be slick or it gets hung up. All in all not bad but you have to be patient with these. Just came back from a trip and caught 15 crabs with these. Half went back due to illegal size but still had fun.

Great Concept, Poor Execution
After purchasing 2 of these and trying them out over the span of a month, these are not effective crab traps. The first problem is it only has 2 doors. Second and most importantly, at least 75% of the time one or both doors failed to open.I put these traps to the test against a traditional 4 door trap (Eagle Claw Crab Trap), and this got beat out by a 10-1 margin easily.Do they fold up as described? Absolutely. Just don't plan on catching crabs with the thing.

Decent value if you are willing to tweak it
As many other reviewers have said this is a cheap trap. It only has two drop sides and the two pieces that drop down from the top to keep the trap from taking when open makes the available inside height pretty small. I ordered 5 of them so thought I'd experiment with one and see if I could improve the design (see pictures)1. I started by removing the cheap kite cord from the panels. It will be replaced with nylon twine before use.2. Next I removed the top and the two drop down pieces (removing the metal "hinges" was the hardest part)3. I cut the drop down pieces using side cutting pliers to make 4 "C" shaped pieces to use as uprights.4. I attached the C uprights to the top and bottom with zip ties.5. For the pictures I reattached the strings to the 4 sides directly (not through the top). The result is a trap with more inside height and 4 opening sides. It took a little while to do, but hopefully the other 4 will go faster now that I know what I'm doing.

Buyer be aware. Great product. Easy store away...
Better then the old 1975 types. Those I had to modify and still Store away is impossible. Won't calapse easily. As these. Excellent thought of engineering. Collapse easily. For next year's use.in N.Y.C. limits.I don't write reviews. But when I find something that works. Share it. Fortunately they use the good reviews to justify their price increase. That's why I don't do reviews. Sincerely [email protected]

Very small
Not easy to use. Needed a wire or something to hold bate in place had to rig something to do it.

Works just fine
This thing works just fine. Other reviewers are expecting way too much for the price of this. I was able to use it without adding zip ties but if you want it to be even sturdier and act like a $100 crab trap just tighten it up with a few in the corners.
