Know your finish on your wood before using.

I was skeptical. I put a huge water ring from a cup on a hard wood bench I have. It essentially took all the finish off and made it a light ring vs. everything else still fully finished. The reviews were good, so I took a chance. My piece is actual wood as i hear this WILL NOT work on cheaper coated or enameled pieces.I cleaned with vinegar and water first. I did not sand with steel wool as some mentioned. After putting on a small amount, the rink completely disappeared. I seemed to have picked the exact right color as the blend was seamless. After a few minutes, I could see a bit of the ring still. So, I applied a 2nd coat. This almost completely removed the ring. If I really look, I can maybe see one corner where the finish looks lighter in a crescent moon shape, but you'd really have to know what you're looking for. This is one of those 5/5 cheap fixes to a problem I thought would be way more labor intensive. Can't recommend enough.

PHENOMENAL PRODUCT!

OMG! This product is PHENOMENAL! I thought I was going to have to finish my cherry stained 100% oak dining room table (with two leaves in it), because it's stain was worn in places and also had "heat haze" to it in various places where I had stupidly used a steam iron to remove wrinkles from a wrinkled table cloth I put on it. I really was loathing the idea of having to sand the table down and restain/varnish it, but it proved unnecessary with this! Didn't work so well a similar coffee table I have (I just sanded that down this morning and ready to restain it). I'M IN LOVE WITH THIS PRODUCT! I wish I had taken before photos, but here's an after photo!

Great product for refinishing furniture

I have an antique mahagony secretary that was really showing its age. I wiped on Restor-A-Finish and was amazed at the difference. All the scratches, scuffs and stains just disappeared! So easy!!

I use this for restoration, but beware of the smell!

My dad introduced me to this product about 25 years ago. However, I do not use it alone, it just does not last. If not stripping down to bare wood it is a time saver though. I only use it on old shellac finishes. Here is what I do:1) Wipe down the furniture or woodwork with denatured alcohol on a lint free cloth. This will remove some imbedded dirt.2) Go over surface lightly with a GRAY abrasive pad. Wipe down.3) Use the Furniture Refinisher on the scuffed shellac surface. This will even out the color and hide minor imperfections. Let it sit about two hours, then wipe down. Let it set another two hours and wipe down. Let it sit overnight and wipe down again. Let it sit another couple hours. While using this product I STRONGLY encourage you to ventilate the area or do it outside, the fumes are nasty.4) Start the orange shellac finish. Give it two coats, let dry overnight. LIGHTLY sand with 400 or 600 wet or dry sandpaper. Wipe down with a tack cloth. Give it one or two more coats of shellac. If you still have dull spots give it more coats until no longer dull when dry. Remember this is restoration not refinishing, you are still going to see some alligatoring and defects present in the original finish.5) Let cure 14 to 30 days. After that you can rub out with 0000 steel wool and paste wax if you want. The photos are of the linen press I am currently restoring.Remember, putting polyurethane on an antique is the fastest way to destroy its value!

Awesome Stuff!

Amazing, easy stuff. I used it to clean up and old mirror, our base kitchen cabinets and the trim in our house. Def use it with a fine steel wool, it works wonders with very little effort!

Takes Muscle Work but gets Good results

Good Product. It takes a different approach depending on damage and wood type.Do not expect a bit of rubbing to work. It takes a terry cloth, muscle power and eventual result. I'm satisfied with this table top saver.
