About the Author Lynda La Plante bestowed John Moores University with a creative writing scholarship in her hometown of Liverpool and is an honorary member of the British Film Institute. I suspect it toiok shorter time to write than it does to read (which you can easily do in a day). By the authors own admission, the story is not hers originally, but that of inmates. This shows in an incredible lack of style generally accustomed to the author, with a story line that would better suit young teenagers than adults. Even the story line is far from creditable, and if in fact based on any true account can only serve to suggest that the penal system of the time was grossly dysfunctional.
