ecobee Smart Thermostat Essential - WiFi Thermostat, Energy Star Certified

Very easy to install, works perfectly with Wi-Fi, and I haven’t had any connection issues. It looks great and has an excellent native standalone app. I previously had a Nest, which I paid a small fortune for and which still works but is no longer supported by Google — BUMMER!! — and an Amazon thermostat, whose app was laggy and constantly gave me errors. This one is much more affordable than the Nest and, so far, it’s by far the best thermostat I’ve owned.

This ecobee Smart Thermostat is just what the doctor ordered! Ok...not an actual doctor (and I don't even play one on TV). I ordered 2 of these for where I work. The reason is that they connect to wireless sensors that can be placed in different rooms. My office faces South, so in the evenings the setting sun really heats up my side of the building, and my office regularly would reach 78-80 degrees! The old thermostat that controls the temperature was out in the main working area, so it's much cooler out there. I would have to get up to turn on the AC and get up to turn it off after it would be running for 45+ minutes! Since installing the ecobee thermostats and using a wireless sensor in my office, the thermostat will kick on before it reaches 77 in my office, and shuts off usually after 10-15 min when the temperature drops just below 76 (which is actually very comfortable). No more getting up to turn on the AC because I'm burning up, and no more getting up to turn it off again because I'm starting to freeze when my office would drop to 72, but the old thermostat would still be reading 75 or 76! This will certainly save on utilities with less overall run time, and will save on frustrations of getting up and down to also help avoid our owner coming out to shut it off because his office is even colder than mine! The app has worked perfectly as well, so even if the thermostat wasn't working perfectly, I can now shut it off without having to get up (which was probably better for more leg stretching throughout the day...lol). I definitely recommend this thermostat and wireless sensors if you have issues with not being able to keep things at a comfortable temperature.

Super easy to install and set up. The app works seamlessly for controlling temps remotely, and the schedule setting keeps the home comfortable while lowering energy bills, smooth integration with Alexa and Google Assistant. A great buy for saving on energy. Highly recommend.

DON'T BUY... Expensive JUNK and the sensor is WACKED Customer Service is HORRIBLE!!! If you call customer service they are just going to keep you on the phone for 2 hours messing with the thermostat after waiting Loooong hold times to talk to someone. They will give you nothing but excuses instead of sending you a new unit and my unit isn't even a year old. All they do is talk a lot of crap and spin you in circles. And then they want you to have the HVAC guy come in your house to mess around with their sensor when clearly they can see what you're doing because they're keeping track of it even when it's disabled. I had three different HVAC guy's look at my system three different times and NOT one thing was wrong with my system it's all the thermostat. More money out of my pocket. Even technical support said that there wasn't anything wrong with my HVAC unit because they can see on their end what's going on with the thermostat so if you just told me there's nothing wrong with my unit why are you telling me to have somebody come back in and look at it again. 😡😡😡 I had to disconnect the sensor for the other room and the air quality monitor as well so I don't know what I am actually paying for because I can't use half of the crap that comes on the unit But that didn't matter because I was talking to technical support and I was informed that it doesn't matter if I disable it that they still monitor it on their end so what is the point of me disabling it! Ooooh now the good part...Then they try to blame the sensor not working correctly because every time your heat or air conditioning turns on it affects the sensor and I'm like that's not true because then it would be in the red meaning poor air quality constantly. Then they had to find another excuse and wanted to know if I had air purifiers in my house what kind they were, what model and they wanted me to send them pictures of it so they can try to blame your air purifiers for their sensor not working correctly. UNBELIEVABLE I mean seriously you can't make this crap up! I don't know what I paid $260 for other than some POS that doesn't work and horrible customer service. The air quality sensor is always telling at me to open a window when I have multiple air purifiers in my house and there's nothing wrong with any of them and they haven't changed colors to indicate poor air quality. I Set the thermostat at 72 and it either goes up or down anywhere between 1 to 3 degrees difference. I had to call tech support twice to fix this issue it was never a resolved and I got tired of going around with technical support from some foreign country. Do yourself a favor run from this company the only thing they're going to do is stress you out and you're going to take a hit in your pocketbook.

The thermostat itself works really well and has a nice, modern design. I especially love the PIN lock feature, which was one of the main reasons I purchased it. I also like being able to set a schedule so the temperature adjusts automatically throughout the day. However, the app has been a real headache! I was able to connect everything yesterday, but it disconnects way too easily, which is very frustrating. Overall, I'm happy with the thermostat and its features, but I can't give it 5 stars because the app definitely needs improvement.

I can’t even remember what caused the argument between me and my fiance to buy this - but it truly was the best purchase we ever made and wow do I love it. It was really easy to set up (took a picture of the existing wires and sent it to customer service - they told me which wires to connect to which, and then stayed with me until everything was fully connected. Super impressed), and once it was set, it was very easy to understand. The display is beautiful and looks sleek. It makes our condo look like it’s in 2026 and not 1999. I love that I can control it with my phone - because the moment he is in bed, I can turn the AC down to 67, and he has no clue because I didn’t even leave the bed. And it’s programmed to be 70 by the time he wakes up. So thanks ecobee for helping our relationship!

Really like this thermostat. Easy to use and change temperature. Nice program features. Like the repots on indoor and outdoor temps as well as heat run time and summaries.

Installation was straightforward and seems to work okay. Setting up a daily program was tedious and confusing. Each individual temperature has to have its own profile which you have to set up and save. Then you have to specify the beginning *and end* of the time of each profile for each day. If the end time of one profile doesn't match the beginning of the next profile, it either chooses something else for you, or deletes the whole thing. Copying a daily program to another day adds another element of complexity, with the possibility of the app just deleting your entire program. I've sent it back, and will be sticking with my Sensi.
