A relationship saver!
I canโt even remember what caused the argument between me and my fiance to buy this - but it truly was the best purchase we ever made and wow do I love it. It was really easy to set up (took a picture of the existing wires and sent it to customer service - they told me which wires to connect to which, and then stayed with me until everything was fully connected. Super impressed), and once it was set, it was very easy to understand. The display is beautiful and looks sleek. It makes our condo look like itโs in 2026 and not 1999. I love that I can control it with my phone - because the moment he is in bed, I can turn the AC down to 67, and he has no clue because I didnโt even leave the bed. And itโs programmed to be 70 by the time he wakes up. So thanks ecobee for helping our relationship!

Actually a Smart thermostat!
This ecobee Smart Thermostat is just what the doctor ordered! Ok...not an actual doctor (and I don't even play one on TV). I ordered 2 of these for where I work. The reason is that they connect to wireless sensors that can be placed in different rooms. My office faces South, so in the evenings the setting sun really heats up my side of the building, and my office regularly would reach 78-80 degrees! The old thermostat that controls the temperature was out in the main working area, so it's much cooler out there. I would have to get up to turn on the AC and get up to turn it off after it would be running for 45+ minutes! Since installing the ecobee thermostats and using a wireless sensor in my office, the thermostat will kick on before it reaches 77 in my office, and shuts off usually after 10-15 min when the temperature drops just below 76 (which is actually very comfortable). No more getting up to turn on the AC because I'm burning up, and no more getting up to turn it off again because I'm starting to freeze when my office would drop to 72, but the old thermostat would still be reading 75 or 76! This will certainly save on utilities with less overall run time, and will save on frustrations of getting up and down to also help avoid our owner coming out to shut it off because his office is even colder than mine! The app has worked perfectly as well, so even if the thermostat wasn't working perfectly, I can now shut it off without having to get up (which was probably better for more leg stretching throughout the day...lol). I definitely recommend this thermostat and wireless sensors if you have issues with not being able to keep things at a comfortable temperature.

Simple to use, Sleek and modern. Phone app accessibility gives huge flexibility - great for rentals
We bought several of these Ecobees for a commercial building and they are so great! The app makes it really simple to control and you can preset temperatures for multiple units on the same app. You can also set heat and cooling limits so they don't cause utility bills to skyrocket. They are very easy to adjust the temperatures directly on the unit as well, unlike complicated programming of older thermostats where you need to read a manual to set everything after a power outage. Not these! Simple, sleek and modern! Most thermostats have color coded wiring in the wall, so observe when you are removing them from your old one. We had a much older rook unit and no color coding so we had to open up the panel of the hvac and see how the wires were connected to that board. Problem solved. Most are easier than that, but if you have any questions, call tech support or google it. Well worth it!

Nice features but questionable quality, reliability and warranty
Ordered two ecobee essentials as my house has 2 separate heat pumps. Initially all was working fine, but after only 3 months one of the units failed catastrophically which could have resulted in damage to the heat pump itself. Short story is that the output relays (which send signals to the heat pump when to operate) in the ecobee itself went haywire whereby they continuously pulsed off and on (the heat pump contactor was dangerously chattering). Thankfully this resulted in the heat pump control board fuse blowing and cutting power to the ecobee, saving potential damage to the heat pump. I only figured out that it was the ecobee creating the issue after I swapped out the ecobee with my other one, which solved the issue. I then called Ecobee support and was told nothing they could do nothing in terms of offering a solution or replacing the unit (solution offered: buy another one from Amazon with overnight delivery) as the unit was past the 30 day (!) warranty. They had no interest in connecting me to technical support or a support manager - which I requested multiple times. The fact that my 92 year old mother in law lives in the house and we are in South Carolina where it was 90 degrees also did not seem to sway them towards any interest in helping. Bottom line - carefully monitor your ecobees, or switch them out for another brand (which I am doing).

"Don't be Evil" and create more e-waste
Switched to Ecobee after Google decided to not continue supporting older Nests making my thermostat some more e-waste ("Don't be evil," they used to say). Anyway, hoping Ecobee doesn't choose to do the same sort of nonsense in a decade with this one. Install was easy--had to get the power converter, but directions for both were easy and I got it up and running in about 1 hour. Setup was pretty painless. Overall pretty happy with the product so far. I like the reporting function and the app is pretty solid. The only concerns I have so far are that this model doesn't have the sensors to detect when you leave the house to go into "Eco" mode. 99$ for an addon to give it that functionality. Not sure I'm going to invest becase it seems that it takes 2 hours for the adjustment to initiate (not sure if that is configurable). Also they seem to be IR detectors--not sure about whether my dog will frustrate that functionality sleeping while we're out. Geofencing works easily with android, but iphones need you to set up homekit on something or other. Not sure why this is--maybe apple phone security is tighter than android, but if you want use the geofencing with more than one person this might be awkward.

Great product, Better Support than most, check the app for a pro to install at a lesser cost.
First of all, Ecobee has itโs own app where you can find a pro to install it for a lot less than you will get from AC companies, handymen, Angi/Handy and the likes. The lowes any one quoted me was $175, and I found a pro in the app for $100. Second the unit itself is a bit temperamental, with simple touch it turned off 3 times during installation, but eventually successful. Third and most important, you canโt go lower than 65 on the app a priori, you have to go manually and reset your range. I had to connect with support to learn this. Support, by the way, is very good via chat or phone during extended working hours period. Price wise, check around for better pricing specially holiday sales.

Lady Friendly DIY
This thermostat was surprisingly easy to install. I did have to patch a couple of small holes left behind by my old thermostat because I chose not to buy the optional wall cover. If I had used the cover plate, the installation would have been even quicker. If you're a woman who enjoys tackling simple home improvement projects yourself, I'd rate this as a very easy Saturday morning DIY. The app walked me through the setup step by step, the built in level is brilliant, and I had everything up and running much faster than I expected. It looks clean on the wall, works great, and I'm really happy with the upgrade. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Difficult to set up programs
Installation was straightforward and seems to work okay. Setting up a daily program was tedious and confusing. Each individual temperature has to have its own profile which you have to set up and save. Then you have to specify the beginning *and end* of the time of each profile for each day. If the end time of one profile doesn't match the beginning of the next profile, it either chooses something else for you, or deletes the whole thing. Copying a daily program to another day adds another element of complexity, with the possibility of the app just deleting your entire program. I've sent it back, and will be sticking with my Sensi.
