Superficial
I really enjoyed Anne Kelly's "Textile Nature" and looked forward eagerly to this new book. However, the text is thin (a few - or even just one - paragraphs per page, mostly about places she has been and artists she has met) and often seems to state the obvious. It is interspersed with pictures which are much of a muchness. A few simple projects are included. I might be tempted to find out a little more about some artists, but generally did not feel inspired. I would like deeper analysis of the themes covered (samplers, Nordic work, The Silk Road (nomadic art), small worlds and home and childhood) and more historical examples. This seemed like an awkward cross between a personal memoir and a nod towards general sources of inspiration and was not really satisfying on either count.

A beautiful book, interesting to read and full of pictorial inspiration.
This book arrived yesterday hot off the press and I have already read it twice, just to savour all the different elements. It has a wonderfully varied mix of artists inside, with beautifully photographed samples of their work. The author, Anne Kelly, uses the book to showcase the eclectic mix of her own textile creations, and she explains clearly the historical and geographical background to everything. There are even some instructions for your own projects : you are sure to feel inspired to create your own piece of folk art.

Anne Kelly has done it again.
What a fantastic new book from Anne Kelly. Absolutely packed full of inspirational textile art from all over the world. Anne's love of folk art, both old and new, really shines through on every page. An added bonus are the 'how to make' sections. Can't wait to get started on my own projects inspired by this book.
