I don’t recommend it. I tried it for SMP. 1. There are no instructions for the kit so you need to already know what you are doing. 2. The biggest problem I found is that the needle doesn’t recess back into the needle housing so it doesn’t pickup ink very well. I found myself jabbing my head without ink on the tip. I tried to do it cheaply and got very poor results. After multiple sessions, I can’t tell that I made any difference. I’m looking into Dragonhawk machines in the price range of $100 to $200.

I’ve worked with a few SMP machines and this one honestly holds its own pretty well. The pen is lightweight, so even during longer practice runs my hand didn’t cramp up. The adjustable needles are smooth to set and give decent control over depth, good for precision work like hairline detailing. The kit also comes with practice skins and accessories, so you can start testing it out right away without buying extras. It’s not the absolute top-tier machine, but for the price it feels reliable and consistent.
