eufy Security Video Doorbell C31, 2K FHD, Battery or Wired, No Subscription

The eufy Video Doorbell was surprisingly easy to install. I had it up and running in under 15 minutes, and the 2K image quality is sharp both day and night. Two-way audio works well, and I like that there’s no monthly fee for local storage. The app is user-friendly and gives quick access to live view and past recordings. On the downside, motion detection can be a bit too sensitive – I got alerts for every passing car and stray cat until I adjusted the zones and sensitivity. Also, the chime volume could be louder for larger homes. Overall, it’s a solid, budget-friendly alternative to subscription-based doorbells, especially if you value privacy and no hidden fees.

Though many of my deliveries are received without any ringing of the doorbell, I especially like the clear images and motions (and noting of whether human or others) recorded of all deliverers or other visitors. I also like not only the ability to converse with those at the closed or open entrance but also the use of a digital way to record and erase the recordings without requiring an online subscription.

I'm writing this review from the perspective of someone who, as an engineer, has far more tech knowledge than the average person. This product is half baked. Things went ok to start. I unpacked everything (there's some stuff like wires, mounting screws, etc a bit hidden), downloaded the app and inserted a microSD card. I started going through the Add Device on the app. The scan of the QR code on the device did not work well and it took far longer than it should to get it to scan (with my Pixel 9). I had to switch to my 2.4 network and then had more difficulty scanning the QR code the phone generates and the Eufy scans (It needs to be much closer than the stated 8 inches). Once past that, things were going well. Where I wanted to mount it had great WiFi and I mounted it (meawhile, I kept get 'human detected' notifications on my phone). During this setup I could see the live view and it looked great. That completed the install. And then it disconnected. No idea why. I had to Google how to unhook the device from its housing (very frustrating). I brought it back inside. Nothing. I tried to reinstall the device but the QR scan would not access the camera. I uninstalled/reinstalled the app and tried again. It got stuck on the connecting to WiFi section. I Googled how to factory reset it. Started everything from scratch again and same problem. Back in the box and back to Amazon. Congratulations Eufy, I will never buy one of your products again.

After 2yrs my ring completely stopped working. I tried updating it, buying replacement batteries & nothing worked. & I had just paid for a subscription. Smh. This is a great alternative! Wish i would have purchased this first, honestly. I love there’s no subscription required. I can control everything thing from one app. & the app is user friendly. The only thing i miss from my ring is the camera range. It maybe better with the other doorbell models though. Other than tht, I would highly recommend.

I like Eufy products, but this doorbell sucks. I replaced a wired ring door bell that worked perfectly fine. 1st, the battery on this has to be recharged once a week. I fully charge it until the light is green, then 5 days later, get an alert the battery is low. Wen through this cycle 4 times now in the past month. 2nd, if you wire this the chime on the wall inside the house makes a loud buzzing noise, so I had to make it wireless and disconnect the 2 wires. My house was built in 2015, I am not replacing a transformer when a ring doorbell worked just fine. 3rd, now the chime is delayed by 10 mins, press the button on the doorbell and nothing......then 10 mins later it decides to ring. So basically was a piece of junk because the wired way just buzzed my wall chime, and the wireless battery way lasted 3 months. ***** Update - Eufy was very quick in responding and sent out a replacement free of charge within days. Now I have a correctly working doorbell with all that was mentioned above now fixed. Thank you!

Although 3 stars, what customers should know is that the all new c31 video door bell has a few inherent software bugs. It does not work with Amazon Alexa although it advertises it does! I also noticed that motion detection when activated for “human detection” app sends alerts for all detectors! I have informed their customer service who has promised to get the issue/s resolved asap. Mounting is pretty straightforward and easy. It looks and feels very durable. Night vision in color and picture quality is pretty good compared with most others in the market. On main power the 24x7 recording works lag free which is a very positive thing. Overall its value for money !

Have had it for over a year and really like it. Long battery life, good video quality, didn’t need to wire it. Perfect for rentals.

It works fine with the eufy app but for some reason it doesn’t stream in my echo 5 and I bought this camera in order to connect with Alexa echo 5, it’s something with the skills eufy change the update or I’m not sure hope they can fix it So disappointed!!
