Ps2 oem. None oem all components. Controller by far the worst
Nothing is oem I basically payed for the system i guess. I think it was over priced and forget the remote it is the worst controller i ever lay hands on. The bottons on the controller are the reason i dont even want to play the playstation. those finger socks dont work at all because those sharp bottons rips it right out and wear it out with a few game plays. The console is in good shape no weird sounds runs smooth so its okay but overall i’ll give it 2 stars review. I will be looking elsewhere for gaming supply.

NOT "renewed". Outside just cleaned.
I was extremely excited when I saw that a PS Slim was available in "renewed" condition. I have always wondered if there would be an advantage to a renewed product verses what you can get on some auction site. You see, I am a hobbyist gamer that enjoys repairing consoles. Most of my consoles that I own were in fact in some state of disrepair when I purchased them. I enjoy bringing old dead consoles back to life. However, I realize that not everyone has the knowledge or ability to repair consoles themselves. They just want to get a console that is ready to play and is in the best condition that a used console can be in. So, the idea of renewed or reconditioned consoles to some folks is something that they would be very interested in. In fact, those people would be willing to pay potentially a significant amount more for a console in this condition verses purchasing a used questionable product from an auction site. So, I wanted to see if this PS2 Slim from Digital Dynasty would be a great purchase for that type of person. My expectation of a renewed or reconditioned console is as follows:* The exterior has been cleaned and there is no visible dirt or lint in the vents* While exterior scratches are fine, the exterior shouldn't have gouges, cracks or missing pieces* The console has been torn down and cleaned inside removing all dust and debris* Optical drive rails lubricated* Laser lens cleaned* Heatsinks cleaned out* Old thermal paste removed and replaced* Electrolytic capacitors inspected and replaced as needed (16bit consoles or older complete replacement required)* Connector (usb, controller, a/v, power) ports cleaned and treated with a contact cleanerWith the above in mind, I started the unboxing.I thought that the packaging was done well. Everything was wrapped in plastic and the console was protected with bubble wrap. There was brown paper packing to keep things from moving around too much in shipping. The controller, power supply and a/v cable were all aftermarket products. While the collector in me would have preferred the originals, but I understand the use of aftermarket products. The only real complaint here is the controller. The connector required more force than should be necessary to get it inserted into the console. The ports on the console were fine because my Brook Wingman adapter fit into both controller ports without issue. The Digital Dynasty really should have used a better controller. The one notable missing item here with then included accessories is a memory card. At the price point of this "renewed" console, one should have been included. The exterior of the console was in pretty good shape. It only had minor scratches and scuffs that are to be expected of a used retro console. Digital Dynasty had done a very nice job cleaning the exterior as there was not really any sign of dust or debris present. They had wiped the down console with a cleaner/protectant product to reduce the appearance of scratches and give the case a nice shine. I did notice that there was one rubber foot missing from the bottom of the console. After plugging everything in and connecting the console to my monitor, it was time to power up. The console booted up right away. While it booted up, there was something amiss that I couldn't quite place at the time...more on this later. I put in a PS2 copy of Resident Evil 4 and it loaded up right away. The controller worked fine without any issues. I then put in a PSX copy of Fear Effect and again, this legacy game loaded without issue. The console worked without any problems. But now it was time to dig a little deeper to see how "renewed" this console was.I removed the top cover and discovered that the rf shielding had quite a bit of surface rust. Not huge concern, just a little disappointing. This won't affect proper operation of the console. It is just an aesthetic thing that I now know is there. Other than the surface rust, everything looked fine. It looked like the cover had been removed and dust blown out of the console. The next thing was to remove the fan and see if it was clean and free of dust bunnies. This is where things started to go downhill very fast. The fins of the fan were caked in dust. This fan was not going to be moving much air in its current state. Even worse was that half of the air intake holes on the rf shielding were totally clogged with dust. This was the only evidence needed that this console was not properly torn down and "renewed". This console was simply blown out with canned air and then wiped down. The laser assembly looked okay, but the rails were devoid of any lubrication. The laser assembly was removed and then the rf shielding removed. The motherboard definitely had not been cleaned or dusted. There were dust bunnies visible on the motherboard. It was also evident that the motherboard had never been removed out of the case because bottom shell had dust while the upper shell had been cleaned. Thermal paste was not an issue because the PS2 Slim uses a thermal pad for heat transfer to the heatsink. I then tested the CMOS battery and discovered that it was totally dead. This is why something seemed off at the boot screen. This dead CMOS battery is more proof that this console was not truly "renewed". If it had been "renewed", this battery would have been replaced.Okay, so time for the verdict. Yes, this console works. It loaded and played games fine. So, there is that. However, with the condition that the fan was in, this console would most likely experience thermal shutdown protection after playing some demanding games for any length of time. Not to mention that the CMOS battery was totally dead. This console cannot be called "renewed". Given that the price of this console is twice what the same thing is selling for on auction sites, I would recommend staying away from any console claimed to be "renewed" by Digital Dynasty.

Great buy!
I didn’t know what to expect when I ordered my PS2. I am thoroughly impressed with the product and how neatly it was packaged. I had forgotten how slim and compact it was. I love it. Great buy!

Works well, but get yourself a good controller.
The media could not be loaded. The PS2 Slim is a little scuffed up, but seems to play all my old PS2 games without any issues. Obviously, the exterior is not going to be mint condition for a refurbished unit, but it’s what’s inside that counts. This console comes with a power adapter, RCA cable connector, and one 3rd party controller. All of these items are not OEM parts, but work fine.I will say to get yourself an actual PS2 controller or a good-quality wireless controller, because this controller feels cheaper and less responsive than an original PS2 controller. The analog sticks feel more like plastic than rubber, and I noticed that there are only 8 pins on the connector instead of 9. I’m not sure of this is intentional, or if I got a defective controller.I use a wireless adapter that lets me use my PS5 controller with this console, and that works great.Overall, I’d say if you want a refurbished console, this is a good option for you, but be mindful that the exterior might not be the prettiest, and the controller included is mediocre.

Super nostalgic
This slim Playstation set offers great nostalgia for the good old days of gaming from my childhood. This set has everything you need for a blast from the past of nostalgic gaming, with the only thing missing being a second controller for a friend to enjoy with you!
