I was sick from heat exhaustion until I got this
I'm a stubborn person and refused to get an A/C for my studio apartment because my lease says I can't install one. Even if I wanted one, it was too complicated (in my opinion) to look around for good window units with the right BTU and so on. After two extreme heatwaves where I nearly made myself sick and my two cats refused to leave the cooler bathroom tile, my manager convinced me to buy a portable A/C, any portable A/C. We stopped work and looked on Amazon together (over the phone) and he pointed out the various models that looked good. I settled on this beauty because of the good reviews and the easy maintenance and "installation". I was not disappointed.I missed the first delivery because I was at a concert, but it was delivered the USPS and I scheduled a re-delivery the next day. It came roughly 10 in the morning and I immediately started setting it up. It is quite easy to remove from the box because of the instructions on the outside telling how to open it, and it is heavy but light enough to move with one person (sliding on the floor). It came with all the pieces needed, the window pieces, filter, and tube in the back (and batteries for the remote). Putting it together is a matter of slotting the pieces together. It took a bit, but I'm sure I could do it easily in 5 minutes now.It ran like a charm when I plugged it in and hit the power button. My room was a warm 84 with two medium fans blasting it. I set the A/C to 76 and let it run hoping to chill the room. The room, a 400 sqft studio cooled down wonderfully. The temperature is actually quite comfortable at 78, any lower and it even starts to feel cold. My cats stopped hiding, I stopped sweating while being 3 ft away from the fans, and I could sleep again.I'm a simple person who essentially runs this if I am in the room, but when I go to work I let it run a few hours before letting it time out. My cats don't get hot (because I also turn a fan on) but the room is always 80-82 degrees when I return. I wish there was some way to set up a thermostat that turns it on and off depending on the temperature, but I'm not annoyed that it doesn't.It ran pretty much for 13 days before needing the filter cleaned, which the instruction manual says two weeks is generally the time that happens anyway. Cleaning the filters was easy, just pull them out, dust the inside (especially if you have furry pets, this thing will suck some fur up), rinse the filters and let them dry. Take a few hours to dry completely and then just pop them in.It is fairly quiet, at least compared to other units or fans I've used. When the A/C is in cooling mode it is a bit noisier, sort of like wet air whirling in a box, but then it cools down and it switches to the quieter fan mode and you hardly notice it. I haven't used the dehumidifier much because my room is no longer humid with the window closed (I had it open because I was suffocating with the window closed during the heat waves).I don't know how it will hold up in the long run, but hopefully it lasts just as well as it has in the first two weeks.

Great Compact AC Unit
I searched and read so many different reviews on various portable air conditioning units, which was quite daunting, and finally decided to purchase this unit. There is a video uploaded by another reviewer that truly helped me make my decision. The Honeywell AC was very easy to install in the window- my brother put installed it for me- and the casters on the unit are very convenient and helpful for moving the unit around the room. Now on to the cooling part- when the unit was installed my bedroom was 78 degrees, within 20 minutes my room was 61 degrees! Amazing! Indeed I was hopeful of this type of quality, but expectations were low because of the negative reviews; I am beyond impressed! I’m considering purchasing two more Honeywell units for my living room/kitchen.I have not used the dehumidifier option, therefore I cannot effectively review to that degree, however, the fan option is also wonderful. I live in an apartment building that has a centralized heating and cooling system. The efficiency of that system is negated on days where the temperature reaches beyond the 90 degree mark. This portable air conditioner truly helps the existing cooling system and keeps my bedroom cool, just with the fan option on high.I do not find this unit to be noisy at all. You do hear the air blowing out, on the highest level, however, on the lowest, it is barely detectable. I always sleep with a fan, simply for the white noise effect, so this unit does not bother me in the slightest. The price is also great in my opinion especially for 8,000 btu and for how effective this machine is. I recommend this cooling system to anyone looking to significantly cool down a room 350 sqf and under!

Love it! Has some flaws but overall really happy! No more worrisome Hot days for a PC gamer ;)
Now that I've had this AC unit for roughly 2 and a half months I can do a review for it. I bought this AC unit because I play video games in my room. I have a gaming PC that exhausts a lot of heat that it can easily be 2° warmer in my room then outside. Around summer times it would get so damn hot that I couldn't even be in my room... I would have to turn off my PC and head downstairs to cool off. The times I had to stay in my room on Hot days I would crank up the Fan I had and blast it right onto my face and even then you're just recirculating hot air. Not to mention the Tempts for my GPU and CPU were HOT! You get the idea.I had to buy a separate piece so I can put it into my window to attach the exhaust hose into it. My windows slide left to right and not up and down like traditional windows do. This is the piece I bought to fit my window "EdgeStar APPK2010 Upgraded Portable AC Vent Kit for Sliding Glass Doors and Large Windows". The bracket that comes with the AC unit won't fit the Edgestar kit. So you can either Duck tape the hose onto the bracket that the Edgstar kit has or do what I did and fit the hose right onto the plastic piece that you have to screw down to the panel. Only down side to this is that taking the hose off from the window panel is a pain so I just leave it attached and disconnect the hose from the AC unit instead. Other then the Plastic window panel everything else that I used was out of the box.Setting this thing up is super simple. Read through all the instructions. Turned it on for the first time and it worked wonderfully. I turn this bad boy on when I need to cool off my room because of my PC + outside temperature warming up my room. I have it aiming towards my PC and the back of my chair, since my window is a bit far away from me. So far I'm really loving it! Hottest it has gotten was 86° and it was nice and cool in my room, around 74°. I can tell its going to have some trouble with really hot days though. Like around 90°+. Don't get me wrong, it'll be noticeably cooler in your room but it won't be 74-78° in your room on those days. Some gripes I have with it is that their is an odd sound that comes out of the machine sometimes that sounds other worldly... It's hard to explain but it sounds like a low Echo that starts small and gets progressively louder. It doesn't happen often and it only lasts for a minute. But its very noticeable that I have to turn around to make sure the thing isn't going to possess me or something... I've noticed it happening when it gets into the lower 69°s. Then of course the other complaint is that it doesn't get cool around my room on very hot days. It's nice and cool in the direction that my AC unit is facing on those days but not so much in the surrounding area like near my bed. But it'll still be cooler then outside.Overall I'm satisfied with my purchase. Had to knock a star off because of the Noise that happens sometimes, other then that it will keep your room nice and cool on warm days and keep you cool on really hot days if you got it blowing air in your direction.
