Much better than the slightly cheaper brand X
Works fine in a 1949 Ford F1 with a stock 4 speed. I tried a slightly cheaper brand X and it was so stiff I returned it without even trying it. This one by Mr. Gasket is soft enough that it lets the shifter move. It’s big enough to cover the top of the transmission but small enough to not take up too much floor space. I used a hole punch to make nice round holes so it wouldn’t tear like they can if you just jam the screws through. I didn’t use the cheap tiny screws that came with it because I have thick carpet and insulation. Stainless screws look good with the trim ring. It’s a decent little shift boot if that’s what you’re looking for.

Plastic boot instead of Rubber- Really? Why?
Okay, here's the deal: I have restored and hot-rodded plenty of vehicles and have had the opportunity to purchase and use a wide variety of shift boots over the years from American muscle cars to 4-wheelers to British sports cars... so I have had plenty of shift boots to compare this one to.In a word, it's "cheap". The rubber is 1/2 - 1/4 the thickness you would expect to see in a rubber shift boot. In fact, the rubber is not really rubber- it's a semi-pliable black plastic that has almost no stretch at all- meaning that if you put any kind of stress on it, it is going to tear. The center hole for the shift lever will not stretch to accommodate a larger diameter that what you see in the picture- if you try to stretch it, it's going to tear. The diameter stated in the description is the outside diameter of the mounting ring, not the inside diameter. It has about a 3.5" ID. I you look closely at the picture, you can actually see just how thin this thing is...The mounting ring is very thin and cheap looking. The tiny screws that came with it are barely long enough to extend beyond the mounting ring into the rubber- so you will be buying new screws for this. If you torque the screws down any more than "firmly snug", the ring is going to distort.I would have paid 3x the price for a well-made round shift boot, however, there simply isn't anything available out there right now. Plenty of quality square or rectangular boots but no round ones. It is a facsimile of a shift boot- not a real shift boot. An appropriate installation would be something like a shifter in a plastic Barbie kid toy car.

Perfect for classic bronco transfer case shifter.
Installed on my 77 bronco transfer case shifter. Perfect fit on shaft, covers hole in floor, with some bending on metal flange. As other reviews mention supplied screws are so small they are of no use. Also the material is closer to a flexible plastic then a soft rubber. Not sure how well this would hold up if used on a manual transmission shifter, but is fine for my transfer case shifter that gets minimal use.
