Electro-Harmonix Pitch Fork Polyphonic Pitch Shift Pedal

I REALLY should have bought this sooner! Completely changes the game for me. Rather than need a guitar for every last tuning I want to play in, I only need one or two, and with the Pitch Fork, I can play in my most comfortable string tension with my best guitar in any tuning I want without the need to have it set up each time to maintain action and intonation. It can do a LOT more than that, but this is why I got it. The only caveat, which is something I should have looked up before, is that the right knob lets you select from what is basically a scale pattern. This is why I said I need another guitar or two, because depending on what your natural tuning is, you'll only be able to shift to whatever the scale would let you go to. For example, if my guitar is in Drop C, I can go to B and Bb/A#, but I can't go directly to Drop A because it wouldn't be present in that scale. If you own multiple guitars, this is your best friend, and it's cheaper than the Polyshifter. If you only own ONE guitar, or just one that's actually usable, consider the Polyshifter or the Drop instead, as they let you shift through each semitone, up or down to the next octave. Other than that, this thing is getting 5 stars from me, full stop. AND, if you're not already sold on it, keep in mind that this one that I purchased came with an AC adapter, too! Safe to say EHX just won me over with a single pedal XD

One of the more under-utilized features (on YouTube demos) is the dual mode with harmonies. That mode is very inspiring. The M6 setting is amazing (basically comes out to be a major triad a fifth down from the note you play). Use the 1 octave setting in dual mode with the Superego for an organ-like sound. (Or get the EHX B9 if you're really into organs.) You're definitely going to want an expression pedal so you can change the gliss speed or gliss manually. The Moog EP3 (about 40 bucks) works nicely–one Korg pedal I tried at a store shifted the pitch to 100% when pressed down only about 20% of the way. I believe it depends on whether the pedal is linear or non-linear ("audio"). Getting precise with gliss duration using an expression pedal takes a minute, so if you want to get more exact gliss duration times for live purposes, you can either program it to stay at one setting (read the manual for info on this) or, if you want multiple settings you're going to want to buy a knob-based expression box (such as the Saturnworks Double Expression Guitar Pedal) instead of an actual shift pedal, that way you can put down a sticker and mark it with different speeds for different songs. The tracking is perfect. The one downside is that when you change the pitch, it does take off some of the highs while the note is being shifted. Sounds fine when the note is not shifted. So if you're doing a super hifi/bright/fuzzy/dry tone and recording it DI, it's pretty noticeable unless you roll off the highs. Not sure if it'd be noticeable through an amp. I don't have the Whammy DT so I can't compare, but I'd imagine all pitch shifting pedals have this problem. I did an A/B test shifting octave down vs a MicroPOG and an actual bass. When you're using distortion, there's almost no difference aside from the low end (which could be accounted for by the fact that I'm using two different brands of instrument). When you're running it clean, it's almost identical to the MicroPOG (although the MicroPOG has some sublte, high pitched artifacting). Compared to an actual bass, it definitely has a different sound and doesn't have the attack a bass has, but might work fine live, for writing purposes, and for special effects. Going down 2 or 3 octaves on the low E string is pretty much useless, muddy. Read the user manual if you're really not sure on this purchase.

I record music for a living yet this is my first stomp box pitch shifter. I wanted to get a simple octave pedal so as to record fake bass parts using my guitar and my new looper pedal "just for fun" when not in the studio. This device does way more than simple octave work. You can pick all major scale intervals (including unison) and then either blend that in with the original signal or have it be the dominating sound. You can also pick either an octave above, octave below, or have both at the same time (including the original signal of course). Finally, you can either pitch up/down by 1-3 octaves. The unison function when blended in with the original provides a lush chorus effect. I also like the latch function, where you can have the effect come in and out by just pressing on the switch. When you release your pressure the effect turns off. What is cool about this pedal that i didn't realize when I ordered it is that I can pitch shift my entire instrument to other keys and for example fake a baritone guitar. Just set the mix to 100% wet, have it set for one octave down and set the interval to a 4th and there ya go. Using latch you can be playing some insane low chunky part and then lift your foot up and seamlessly go into your guitar's original tuning. It sounds fairly realistic and seems to track great. You can also fake a 12 string guitar by blending in an octave up setting lightly. I imagine I'll use this thing for real sessions now that I have it. I can get that cool low tele baritone sound very easily now so that will be great "on tape". There is a little latency for sure but I imagine with anything like this that requires some serious DSP to work will have that. It's not unplayable by any means. It could be that just a simple octave pedal takes less processing and thus has less latency.

This is the Knocked Loose sound I've been searching for. Set it to minor 2, blend in the middle, dual switch in the middle and hit those pinch harmonics...it gets ugly (in a fun way)! I Couldn't be happier with this pedal. It makes your guitar sound gnarly!

I purchased this pedal to shift pitch of songs played in rehearsals without having to retune. It works well. Only a very slight chorusing when shifting up or down. Not an issue - not enough to be perceptible in a live band session. Very cool sounds in other lead guitar applications like octave and harmonies. I use the device in the front of the signal chain so the buffer is a bonus as I think it improves the tone. I also use a pedal that acts as a buffer at the end of the chain. So my personal opinion is the combination is a win. I would buy it again.

I only use one pitch setting, I believe it modifies the sound into fifths, and it's absolutely brilliant to my ears. I plugged in a MOOG EP-3 pedal to manipulate the pitch, and I believe I'll always have a reason to keep this in my main pedal loop. It's very much a 'spice' to my sound, as I think I'd go bananas if I had to hear it all the time, but to accentuate or augment certain notes & sections really delivers a unique flavour. -1 star because I found all the other starting pitch settings too goofy for serious use.

This is a really unique pedal and definitely can add a lot to your sound if you are willing to mess with it long enough. Controls are pretty basic, the blend dial adjusts the volume of the effect (noon is a 50/50 blend effect, fully dialed in the effect takes over) and the right knob controls the pitch effect. The dual switch picks whether you want to shift up or down, while the dual mode applies both equally. Tracking is very accurate even on fast playing, and the harmony selections are usually spot on. It's fun to mess around with the octave settings to get 12 string and even 18 string guitar sounds, but switching the octave settings to 2 or 3 octaves above and below rarely creates a very usable sound. However, there is a lot of fun to be had shifting the pitch down an octave and putting the blend to max. This effect makes your guitar sound like a very convincing bass guitar which is cool for certain scenarios. Running a Big Muff Pi in front of the Pitch Fork in dual octave mode creates a huge wall of sound synth effect. Overall, this may not be the most usable pedal for day to day playing, but it can add a great amount of creative options to studio playing and provide a good bit of fun in a jam scenario.

I used this shifter at a gig last night for the first time (for electric guitar, classic rock-type band, guitar, keys, bass, drums, four-hour bar gig). It worked well and I was happy with it. It was very nice not to have to re tune my guitar for different songs but just shift the pitch. I only used it to get a 100% shifted signal, not a blend of both original and shifted signal, but that function works well, too, I have other pitch shifters built into multiple device pedals but this Electroharmonix works better. ,more accurately, than any of those. One aspect of using this device took me a little get used to at home: when playing guitar quietly, with the pitch shifted, I can clearly hear both the original guitar tuning (just playing unamplified through the air) and the shifted, amplified, tuning simultaneously, which I found a bit distracting. So for example with the pitch shifted up one full step, I would hear the original tuning play an C chord or note (unamplified), and also the shifted D chord or note (amplified). That was a bit distracting but with the amplified volume turned up a bit, only the shifted (D) was audible. I also brought this to a practice before the gig and played it quietly for the other band members and none of them noticed this 'two keys' occurrence so just at practice-level volume the phenomenon appears to be imperceptible to others. I would recommend this shifter to others.

うちにあるピッチシフターは BOSS の PS-2 でもはやビンテージ。 今は PS-6 だもんね、最新のに買い替えようと探していたらこれになりました。 ラッチボタンで、踏んでる間だけピッチシフターがかかるようにもできるので、単体でもオクターブアップダウンを疑似ワーミーっぽく使えます。 上と下と原音の3声が出るのですが、ピッチをオクターブゼロにすると３声のデチューンになるので、厚いコーラスになります。 色々使えて飽きないエフェクターだと思いますよ、BOSS に飽きたらこれがオススメですかね！

Do yourself a favour and buy an expression pedal with this, hours of fun. This pedal works great with guitar and synth but mostly I use it on my Bass and it sounds huge. This is not a pedal you see second hand very often and there’s a reason. This thing slaps.

Ya tengo años que lo compré. Está increíble, se puede hacer muchísimo con este. De repente parecía tener un problema con el switch, no se activaba, pero sólo pasa cuando el lugar está mal con la electricidad. El producto es muy bueno, EHX no decepciona.
